    Thank you for featuring places with real history. Glad for all the new foodie joints but they need to stick around a few decades to become iconic.

    I have lived here my entire life, and Karichimaka Restaurant on Mission Road is, in my opinion, the best Mexican food in town. Eegees is a national treasure, but ever since new management took over in the last few years, their sandwiches are not the same but the drinks are still awesome. Pinnacle Peak is my favorite place to go for steak dinners. And I am so glad that you included Bobo’s because that there’s a little hole in the wall place that a lot of people do not know about but their breakfasts are off the chain! You can never go wrong if you go to Lucky Wishbone.
    🐻⬇️🌵
    P.S. I used to work at the Furr’s Cafeteria at Park Mall 1984-1985 and am deeply disappointed that we no longer have one of my favorite cafeterias around here.

    PATS - is a hot dog and burger place on the west side of the 10 Freeway. In the late 60s my friends and I will go there for lunch when we were in high school (Tucson High School) before it turned into a magnet School. We haven’t been there since the 90s. Whenever we would go visit my parents our first stop would be Pats, then we would visit my parents.

    I went to college there from 1971 to 75. I remember when Eges was just an old green truck and was owned by one guy from the east coast, as I remember. . Fun times.

    What a fun video! I'm not a native, but I've lived here for 53 years, and been to several of the places you mention. My favorite Mexican restaurant is Leo's at the corner of Speedway and Rosemont. Leo the proprietor and Maria the waitress always make us feel like family, and the food is fantastic. Best chorizo in town.

    Now you just brought back some memories!!! Now, believe it or not, my uncle bought that first eegees step van!!! It had a huge lemon on the side!!! He used to drive me to school( Alice Vail junior high) and I think I was the most embarrassed kid in Tucson!!! A big white step van with a lemon on the side!!! REALLY!!! Couldn't believe it!! Oh yeah Pinical Peaks!!! A friend and I used to hang out in trail dust town while my uncle and his dad were vending at the tanqaverde swapmeet! Thanks for sharing!! Can you send a mesquite steak and an order of ranch beans from Pinical Peaks? You've made me hungry!!! Hahaha!!! Thanks for sharing!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks , have a great one!!!

    Wow i have lived here my hole life I'm 20 and i definitely have some places to go check out, but that's what I love about tucson no matter where you are in town you will find a good place to eat. There are just to many spots to be listed, but if i could add one it would have to be the silver saddle stakehouse my parents and I would go there pretty often when I was growing up the food was always good and they had a little salad bar that had to close due to covid restrictions I haven't been in a while I dont know if they brought it back. Yup, that was a go to place during my high school years, Eegees, my favorite is strawberry lemonade with an italian grinder. Never heard of bobos. Carusos was my italian go to place, never heard of fortunados.

      @Welcome To Tucson Arizona yes I grew up on all local restaurants in Tucson and I loved them. I'm currently in LA (Hollywood) I been out here for 5 years and I miss my Tucson restaurants and it's not all just Mexican restaurants, tho they are very delicious but Tucson offers all types of American food which I got to give another shot out to PATS CHILLI DOGS in west Tucson on grande ave in between st Mary's and speedway since 1961

    • @AZlilzo520

      Also I can make a top 10 Mexican restaurants in Tucson easily... I got a cheat sheet ( look up 25 top Mexican restaurants in region not jut Tucson, but Tucson owns all 25 lol so it's the people's choice of course) but to satisfy all Americans on visiting that's a whole different experience so satisfy to your clients needs... that's the American way

    • @georgetheroman4795
      @georgetheroman4795 ปีที่แล้ว

      The American way? If you have a business and don’t cater to your customers, you have no business. Doesn’t matter where you are. Or else you could have state controlled authoritarian rule where everyone is equally starved and oppressed.

    • @anthonyparkinson5820
      @anthonyparkinson5820 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgetheroman4795 That's exactly what @AZlilzo520 is writing. "Satisfy to your clients needs... that's the American way" I'm not sure the confusion but all of my experiences in Tucson have been just that: Restaurants having a great cuisine and presenting it to make their customers happy.

    The pandemic killed a lot of Tucson’s few good places to eat and have fun, in whole, aside from the performing arts and music community, most of Tucson is exceptionally mediocre, except to those who don’t know how much better it could be. Local since '71: I miss Greasey Tony's on Speedway near the U of A. Their hot meatball sub was my undergraduate hangover cure. Lil' Abner's owner Dave Hoffman passed away recently. I knew him since Rugby in '71/'72. Great guy. He knew all the obscure Rugby Songs. Taught me how to chug beer. Later I'd rig lighting for events at his ranch in Catalina.
    Love Pinacle Peak, but I heard their sister operation, El Corral quit serving the Cowboy Beans [pintos]. IDKY. I prefer the Carne Seca at El Minuto to El Charrito's. [I once asked for ,,carne seca'' at a Mexican place in El Centro, CA... [They even had an autographed Blue Angels photo on the wall...] They thought I was a loco gringo: ,,There is no such thing as Carne Seca,'' they said. As a stagehand at TCC often, I ate at El Minuto regularly. They knew me, and would get me served quick, since they knew my lunch hour was limited.
    Love Eegee's. After a fenderbender 30 years ago, I had to ditch my glovebox Bacardi hip flask that I used to ''warm up'' the slushee on the way home.
    Fortunado's and Bobo's I 've never tried. I'm in Oro Valley.
