No rear LSD on this one I see. Also you still need chains or serious snow tires for this RAV to make it. Other than that it does better than any CRV I have seen.
I'm not sure if we can tell from this video alone if it has rear LSD or not. The rear LSD in the Rav4, like in most cars (before all these new brake-sensing ones), is a helical/torsen differential. For a helical/torsen type of differential, if one of the rear wheels is on a slippery surface like ice and I think even some snowy situations, there is not enough load on the rear tires for it to lock the rear LSD to lock both rear wheels to receive power, only one will receive power. This is why we see the rear wheel stop spinning on the right-side, and spinning the left-side during that time in this video. For minor slippery surfaces like dirt, gravel, rain, and powdery-snow, if you have a rear LSD it will usually lock and send power to both rear wheels, which is awesome having 3 wheels receive power! One trick to lock both rear wheels if you are lucky enough to have a rear LSD, but are in a position where even one of your rear wheels is on a slippery surface, is to partially engage the e-brake to put load on it. I can't wait to get mine, so I can see how well the rear LSD functions in situations like this. Most videos showing the Rav4 in snow with LSD only shows the video from one side, so you can't tell if it is just switching power from left-right, or both are receiving power in these conditions.
Your tyres must be very poor for winter conditions. Limited 4x4 still needs proper winter tyres in winter conditions.
