Only Depeche Mode can make a dark song sound so uplifting. Fletch must be proud of Dave and Martin for this beautiful work. I'm a 34 year old man crying of happiness right now.

I'm 53 years young. Loved Depeche Mode since the age of 11 when their first song "Dreaming Of Me" was released. Quickly purchased "Speak And Spell" and was hooked. DM have pretty much been my "soundtrack" throughout my life. No matter what I'm going through or what mood I'm in, there's always a array of songs to listen to that goes with the situation at that moment. No other artist or band has ever done that for me. Very happy to hear this beautiful song... for all it's sadness and honesty. Looking forward to their performance here in Amsterdam in May. I saw them when I was 18 back in 1988 in Sacramento, CA at Cal Expo on their "Music For the Masses Tour". What an amazing night that was! Now, I will come full circle and see them again at 53 years of age. It's bittersweet because it just shows how quickly time flies. Yes. We will all be "ghosts again", but until that day arrives, Depeche Mode will continue to be my soundtrack for life. Much love and peace to any and all who may read this and can relate. 🖤

      @esimsnl ปีที่แล้ว +20

Same age, but I didn't get hooked until after Shake The Disease came out. At that time I only knew their previous singles Just Can't Get Enough and People Are People. In 1986 I bought my stereo equipment and my first CD was Speak & Spell.

I feel what you're saying. I discovered them around 11 with "people are people." And it also has been a soundtrack to who I am. I have more DM songs on my playlist than anything else. And, I wouldn't have it any other way. The group and Trent Reznor are the only people i would have to interview myself.

    Wasted feelings
    Broken meanings
    Time is fleeting
    See what it brings
    Hellos, goodbyes, a thousand midnights
    Lost in sleepless lullabies
    Heaven's dreaming
    Thoughtless thoughts, my friends
We know we'll be ghosts again
    Sundays shining
    Silver linings
    Weightless hours
    All my flowers
A place to hide the tears that you cried
    Everybody says goodbye
    Faith is sleeping
    Lovers in the end
    Whisper we'll be ghosts again
    Heaven's dreaming
    Thoughtless thoughts, my friends
We know we'll be ghosts again

This song gave me the feeling of a farewell to Andrew Fletcher (A place to hide the tears that you cried, Everybody says goodbye). RIP
As an "old fan" from their beginnings in the 80's, I literally got chills while listening to Ghosts Again. I've lost interest once they went all rock after Ultra, but now I'm so happy to hear this. In my opinion there's no need to make "music for the masses" (pun intended), but stay true to their root, after all that's what made them different.... otherwise it's just another rock band.

I was a little young to be a fan in the 80s, but my husband who was older was a HUGE fan. Towards the end of his battle with a terminal illness I would play Depeche Mode to soothe him. I knew it was OK to say goodbye when he no longer recognized his favorite song, " Blasphemous rumours." Whenever I miss his presence I blast Depeche Mode, he passed away 3/23/2016 and I am an eternal fan.

For I passed on to you, as of first importance, the account I had received, that Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures foretold, that he was buried, that on the third day he was raised from the dead, as the Scriptures foretold, and that he was seen by Cephas, and then by the Twelve. After that he was seen by more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, although some of them have fallen asleep. Then he was seen by James, then by all the apostles, and finally he was seen by me also, as though I were born at the wrong time.

    Details to spot:
    - 00:06 The skulls, obviously.
    - 00:18 "Dressed In Black", 1986
    - 00:14 "Walking in my shoes", 1993
    - 00:32 Chess is a game for two only. It's competitive, the (former, now ritualized) fight of two kings. And it involves pieces vanishing from the board, one by one.
    -01:07 "Heaven", 2013
    - 01:10 "Dream on", 2001
    - 01:40 In the whole graveyard scene, there is a peculiar lighting. The light rotates around the scene, like a circling sun, making light and shadow take turns. It looks like a timelapse of days or years going by.
    - 01:53 The album cover, but also "Playing the angel", 2005
    - 02:09 "Goodbye", 2013
    - 02:15 In the upper left of the frame, there is an open grave that Dave apparently crawled from. In 1996, Dave was clinically dead for two minutes after a drug overdose. He was brought back to live, went to rehab, took singing lessons, literally came back from the grave.
    - 02:30 The houses look like faces, evoking Edvard Munch's "The Scream". But any time there's three of them in the frame (02:30, 02:41, 02:45), one of them has its mouth missing. In dreams, this is a common symbol for death.
    - 03:04 A skull ring.
    - 03:48 Though Martin and Dave share the scenes, they hardly acknowledge each other, from walking side by side in the beginning to completely diverging lines of sight in the graveyard. The handshake, after the game is lost and done, is one of the rare interactions. But they are connected through the music all the time, singing together.
    - 03:52 Arriving together, but parting on separate ways.
    I'm sure there's more.

The main reason they wanted to babysit me was so they could listen to their music cassette tapes. Because we had a player. They didn't. . When the Berlin wall came down I was 12 years old . Every East German became 100 Deutsch Markk as Welcome present from Westgermany. My parents we're worried I would just waste on MacDonald s CocaCola and other silky stuff . The first thing buyed was the 101 DM double album. And a Batman t-shirt because Tim Burton's Batman movie was the hype. . And then in 2014 I finally managed 2 see them live . I'm a big fan of Heavy Metal but always loved Depeche Mode, because they were the first band I discovered as a kid.
They did something with "Ghosts again" what other older bands are normally not capable of. To write a 10/10 song which could also be one of their greatest hits from their best album in their best times.

Zgadzam się z Tobą, On Cue! Pozdrawiam!

Haven't seen her collabs to be honest but miley sirus with metallica and specially billy idol are ok. For example when she sang rebel yell.
If you notice they're inviting her a lot to many places. She's the darling of half of America now. Whether you like it or not it is what it is. Any singer interested in atracting her target demographic will be interested in her. Period. Swift or not, Money is money. And all these guys want morr it, doesn't matter how much they have.

I first heard Depeche Mode back in 1983 when I was 16. I am now 57. They have been a part of my life for 41 years. I was lucky enough to see them in concert during their “Music for the Masses” tour. I used to buy all the cassette singles and maxi-singles and CD remix discs and import discs to get all the different versions of their great songs. They now look so old. Their necks. Their faces. They looked so young and happy in their early videos. It’s such a contrast. It makes me sad because it means I am old too and reminds me of what little time is left. Time goes by so fast. It feels like I was a teenager just a few years ago. Rest in Peace Andy and long live Depeche Mode. Your music will never die.
