I Participated in An AMAZING FESTIVAL IN GHANA | EXPLORE GHANA CULTURE | LIFE IN GHANA
Although I spent a portion of my childhood in Ghana, I never got to learn about the Ghana Culture. In this video I attended the Asafo Tu Festival, A festival in Ghana celebrated by the people of Ada. It is a celebration of the soldiers and chiefs who participated in establishing the Ada township.
The festival was was held at Nkyimkyim Museum (nkyimkyim-inst...)

Jasmine, this warms my heart. I am involved in a project back home in Kenya to rebuild the Mijikenda Kingdoms which we basically call them Kaya so that we can preserve the rich culture of all the 9 tribes under this community. Is there anyway I could get contacts to the people who host the festival? We are keen on doing a cultural exchange program for our elders where they visit other African Kingdoms an learn how they have rebuilt their culture and I am happy to share more details.

spirits have no authority on earth apart from that which is given to them by men through ritual symbolism and physical representations through artifacts, belief also plays a significant role, it seals the deal so to speak and opens up the believer to spiritual influence by whatever spirit has been conjured. Do not engage in things you don’t really understand, you’re opening spiritual doors that are not easy to close.

My favorite Jasmine content as a #GhanaianKulturePreservationist. The clay used on your skin is a type of sacred chalk found in some of our rivers. My Late Grandma used to tell us that, when an Ada person ages, he/she turns into an Ewe; and when an Ewe ages he/she transforms into a crocodile and slips into the waters of the Volta...This simply means that the Adas and Ewes share a common genetic Afrikan bond, as ageless and timeless as that of the crocodile.

Jasmine, your dance moves were fantastic. You are a quick learner. Thank you for highlighting our African cultural elements. It's a pity that in some of our cultures, the traditions have completely disappeared hence the need to foster the idea of preservation.

@jasmine ama, this was nostalgic to me, having spent some of my high-school vacations in Ada. Asafotu Fiam is an awesome festival by every measure. Thanks for this great coverage. Be sure to visit the great durbar in Big Ada, and the many fantastic events in Ada Foah as well.

Jasmine thank you so much for this wonderful and educational traditional festival. I enjoyed it so much. But you can really dance ... well done 👏 . I am in Jamaica and we have a character called Pitchy Patchy who dances in our Jonkonuu traditional dance at christmas time. That character resembles in traditional costume the costume of at least three of the costumes I saw in the video. Thank you for this.

Did the design across your chest hurt? I hope she cut her nails. I winced when she did that design🤭
That clay is actually good for facial, the natural way.
