It's funny that she doesn't acknowledge her Filipino heritage when the A-lister Hollywood artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Nicole Scherzinger, David aka Batista Bautista, Tia Carere, Lou diamond Phillips, Rob Schneider, Hailee Steinfeld, Vanessa Hudgens, Cassie, Bruno Mars, Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R and a whole lot more are proud to be Filipinos. So what's embarrassing about being a Filipino? Guess, it's for publicity 😂.

She should acknowledge truth whatever that is without the influence of "A-lister here and there is doing this, and therefore I should also do the same". What other people are doing is irrelevant, what's important is her truth.

Billy Crawford was groomed to be the next king of pop with his first single giving everyone the impression that he is Latino. Then the Filipinos claimed him and he went from possible global domination to doing shows in Philippine television for the lower middle classes. So her management or family may have adviced to leave Pinoy Baiting to backpacking tourist who vlog in the Philippines 🎉🎉🎉🎉.

Not just Filipino sometimes denies their thru heritage. In real world, a lot of Mexican's also denies that they are Mexicans, some of them said that they are Spanish becuase they greatgrandparents or whoever in their heritage is Spaniards, but they look 100% Mexican. So it is not just Filipino somewhat denies their heritage because they have 5% of blood from different heritage running through their vein. It's funny when they talk like it is so obvious that they are too embarassesd to admit they are Mexican. If denying heritage is what make them feel valued as a citizen of America, to me it's not an issue. Whatever makes you feel happy and accepted, not a big deal.

Not true…Most North Americans (Mexican), Central America, Latin America and the Caribbean people don’t even want to talk about Spanish colonization…it was their country’s dark history….All these people from their nations are proud of who they are….Yes, they speak Spanish, they’re Hispanic, but they have their own identity…Unlike Filipinos 😮

The Philippines is under the SEA with Thailand, Malaysia, and others. The famous Asian countries are China, South Korea and Japan. You ask Western people and 70-80 % would tell you those three. As a Filo myself, I'm used to it. Damn, Shay got bullied when she was in school as a kid. She used to eat her lunch in the bathroom. I know this because have followed her since Pretty Little Liar days and bought Candy Magazines as a teenager.
Not to make an excuse for her, but perhaps the prejudice against the Filipinos still lingers in her circle and it's hard for business or maybe she got fried by other Filos already and she doesn't want to be bothered by the rest.
I do know many look at us as the "dirty or uncultured" Asians. Like the jungle Asians. It's sad. Like we're loyal and hospitable, but there's just this prejudice.

I'm going to sound like an old head here but the first person to actually put filipinos on the map was Dante Basco especially if you grew up in the Los Angeles area like I did. Dude's resume is insane and worked extra hard to represent. Pacquiao definitely cemented it though for sure.

The Filipinos abroad who think that since the Spanish conquered the Philippines, they think that ALL Filipinos have Spanish blood. First off, if Spain conquered the whole of the Philippine Archipelago, then Islam will not exist to this day. Islam is very much alive in the Mindanao region, which is a tell tale that the Spanish had a hard time conquering the Muslim tribes and just let them be. Same for Americans. And not all Filipinos who are in the Luzon and Visayas region are automatically part Spanish either. To this day, there are still tribes like the Aetas, Igorots, Butbut (Whang Od's tribe), etc. who were able to preserve their heritage. So, Point being, unless you have full proof of your family's heritage as linking to someone Spanish, then don't assume that you are part Spanish just because...

Filipinos are Hispanic. SPAIN displays the flags of all Hispanic countries including the PHILIPPINE flag in the celebration of Dia de la Hispanidad (Hispanic Day) in Puerta del Sol, Madrid. Philippines is also included in the Ibero-American System and as such qualify for an expedited Spanish Citizenship and access to the benefits of the European Union.

She's a shame. She claims to be spanish through her mom when she's not. Well let her innocence bury her deep. Just a little history lesson, Philippines was a penal colony of spain. The criminals in spain are sent to the country as a punishment for their crimes. If you claim spanish roots but was from the ph, your ancestors are most likely criminals, convicts if not priests (some w records commiting rap e to filipino women) or soldiers during war or a corrupt spain official who was sent to ph to maintain the spanish ruling.
Now you choose who you want to be and be sure. As a celebrity, why lie without people expecting to know the truth? Just really showed her insecurity. Acting like a loser as if she's a highschooler.
