    Dear Ali:
I continue to encourage my, friend Charles, to provide more, submerged surfaces, for beneficial bacteria, to colonize, with regards, to his 120-gallon tank. That tank has been set up, for months, but continues to have high ammonia. I do believe he put too much coconut fiber and compost, in the substrate, to fertilize plants. So, I recommended adding enough sponges, to the hang-on-the-back filter, to completely fill the chambers (loosely, to allow good, water flow). I also recommended adding a second, hang-on-the-back filter. He doesn’t believe it will make any difference.
Thank you, for sharing instructions, on using this, terrific, filter media.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    E. J. Brinegar

      Dear E.J. ,
Yes you are right more submerged surfaces and media will encourage more bigger bacteria colony , however i think that Hang on back filters are not a good choice with such a high volume tank as they have smaller spaces for filter media , that media and the bacteria inside the media and sponges won't be enough for 400-450 litre tank ..
      Whats your take?
      Regards
      Ali

      Dear Ali:
I gave that, 120-gallon tank, to Charles. I used two, Emperor 450, hang-on-the-back filters, optimized with sponges, for filtration, when kept that tank going, without issue. The problem is that Charles put too much compost and coconut fiber, in the substrate. I removed as much as he would allow, this weekend. I hope it was enough.
This is a very good video. Are you able to produce videos in wide-screen format? They are much more enjoyable, for those of us, who watch TH-cam on TV monitors. Please advise.
Thank you, for your correspondence and assistance.
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

      Dear E.J,
Glad to know that it was your tank and you were successful in keeping the going with 2 H.O.B filters ,
Yes excess compost can ruin the water quality
Have you tried sand capping it?
So the nutrtion gets locked in the substrate and release slowly .
And Yes next videos will be in wide screen mode except one two that i still recorded in portrait view
      Regards ,
      Ali

      Dear Ali:
Yes, both Charles and I cap fertilizers, in the substrate, with Black Diamond Blasting Abrasives, which is black, coal slag. It doesn't scratch the glass nearly as much as sand and I like the color.
I'm pleased to know, that you will upload videos in wide-screen format. Will you be adding dialogue and making appearances, in any? It's nice to see fellow, FishFam TH-camrs.
I look forward, to seeing more of your work.
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

      @@ejbrinegarDear E.J.
Good to know that you follow Capping up the fertilizers , hoping the coal slag doesnt change the water parameters drastically.
And yes i mistakenly recorded 2-3 videos in portrait mode which you will see coming up next
After that all the videos will be in landscape mode and yes soon dialogues and appereances will also be done as per the Requirements 😅
Its amazing to know you and learn from you and see more of you i wish we will connect soon through video conferencing so we can share our experiences
Its always a blessing to meet a fishfam hobbyist
      Sincerely,
      Ali

      No Such Formula I Know
