U were saying there are way better climbers than you and you don't deserve as much attention. I don't watch you because you are the best climber, I watch you because you are very charismatic, fun to watch and pleasent person 😉. Definitely worthy of the attention you are getting!
Yeah. When it comes to TH-cam, it's not about who is best. If it was then Magnus wouldn't have 4x as many subs as Ondra. It's about who is watchable/likeable/interesting/relateable etc
After Louis reflections on his V15 dreams, I wondered if it would help him to train with another trainer and be the student for once. Don't get me wrong, from all I know he is an amazing trainer, climber, and very knowledgeable. But maybe it helps to a) add a different focus for a while and b) to put some of the burden of planning onto someone else's shoulders, so he can be more in the moment.
You taught me several if not many, techniques/methods/concepts that helped me tremendously to become a better climber. So I will say this, you definitely deserve the fame, if not more, and all your achievements :)
Louis, please never doubt your success. You have an incredible skill that sets you apart from all the others. There are very few, if any, climbers at your level that are able to impart their knowledge upon anyone willing to learn while retaining an unmistakable positivity and infectious psyche quite like you can. So don't worry about not being the "best" climber. Just be yourself ❤
Love your positive mindset paired with your try hard mentality🙌 I find those to be a rare attributes in parts of the climbing community! Plus your beta style is insanely inspiring😄 keep crushing dude🤙
Louis, please don't think you're an imposter! Yes, of course there's even stronger climbers out there, but I don't watch this channel because I think you're the strongest climber in the world. (Although I am still in awe at your level.) You're my favourite youtuber because of the great training advice, the positivity, the editing style (this video was brilliant, btw!), and the weird fashion choices. You deserve every bit of positive attention you're receiving. Have a bit of faith in us viewers. There's thousands of us, and we're here because we have good taste. 😉
Having rambling chats about mindset is one of your the biggest strengths, and one of the main things that makes this channel special. (Seeing you having a great time together laughing about Voldemort jokes is another one.) Please always include them! 😊
The top level of climbers does not put in the content creation effort you do. Which is why you have the following you have. They sacrificed their own following for their performance. Very few at the top level can manage to put out content and train performance.
This video is awesome, Louis and Catalyst crew! Louis, your perspective and mindset here - and how you're feeling physically - remind me of Magnus. It feels like he's recently had the 'fire in his belly' re-ignited by interactions with people like Tomoa, Dave Mac and Stefano G - he seems to have got a lot of his climbing mojo back and I see a new sense of joy in his current climbing-specific videos (both on his main and secondary channel) and motivation to train and try hard. I also noticed Bob Swagger say in Emil's latest (awesome) video that he might have only five more years of real 'try hard' left in parkour, but sees himself climbing way into the future. I'm rambling, but I guess I'm saying - as a comparative old lady who only started climbing last year aged 43 - climbing is one of those sports you can always find ways to continue evolving even if your circumstances, situations, focus and motivations may shift. Really enjoyed this. Straightforward, entertaining, but still insightful.
Louis, you've inspired this 35 year old overweight dude to climb harder, and keep a way better mindset when struggling😁 Thank you for all the tips and psyche!❤ I use a lot of your and coach Be's tips for warm-ups and climbing 😊
You got the charisma my guy XD You climb super well, your climbing style is entertaining to watch and your coaching tips are super useful! You are definitely not an imposter!
I don't watch because you're a good climber, I watch you because you're an exceptional coach, who makes really entertaining videos (and has an awesome cat). The emotional chat was my favourite bit of the video btw and would love to see more of it in future :)
hey louis, i want to add that there is also amazing value in the way that you communicate climbing. the whole popularity aspect isn't just about the best climber, but also who gets peopled psyched about climbing. no one does that better than you
I loved the cuts showing which moves Louis was reading! Good job editor! Also good job on achieving your Finals goal! And like many others mentioned: You are not one of my favourite bouldering TH-camrs, because you are the best, but because you are very very good and can teach your skills well while being fun and entertaining!
From an outside perspective are a triple threat/champion. Great at climbing, teaching and film. People strive for one of those everynday. It's wild that you see the value in everyone else but not the insane value you bring to this world. Xo
Why don't you do a video with Magnus? He mostly relies on his intuition, while you cleary think stuff through and have methods behind things. I would be very curious to see you guys climbing together, as you have such a different background...
Louis I love your videos, I’m a 52 year old climber and I get so much inspiration from your enthusiasm and mindset. I think your coaching vids are world class, when you climbed with Erin it was clear you had something to offer a climber of her ability. You might not (quite) be a world class climber, but I think your coaching is. Thank you for what you give me - you’ve made me a better climber.
Louis - were all here for YOU, not for the climbing. The climbing is the medium through which were learning about overcoming ourselves. Keep staying out of your own way and you'll keep achieving.
That's interesting what you said about your internal reflections, because once i've seen you participating in BIFF (I believe it was January of 2020), and it felt like it was not going well for you. And you were going circles seemingly being sad or even mad about your performance. And for me as a viewer it was very strange, because I've got used to you being very positive on videos and it was very unlikely seeing you in such mood. Now I understand what was happening there. So keep your track and don't put too much pressure on yourself! In the end it is always about having fun, remember that)
I think a lot of people star watching you for your climbing and staying for your personality. You deserve this because you are such a positive inspiration!
I loved the internal reflections! I've been thinking a lot lately about my mindset and emotional state and its interplay with my athletic performance (both climbing and running). It's taught me a lot about myself on a broader level. So I appreciated hearing your own thoughts!
Is it just me, who gets annoyed and confused by edits, when actual moves are pasted into Louis' analysis before his approach? I'm cool with looking and listening as he walks through his idea, but those interruptions are making it hard. If you want to add it, how about a split screen? I'm watching your videos, since you share a lot of tips that are practical at any level and combine nicely physical aspects of bouldering with mental one. And all packed up in a light, funny format. One thing I would really enjoy watching would be a long term project- how do you approach it during multiple sessions over the course of few weeks.
Can you please not show the clips of the moves as he Louie talks about the moves of a boulder? Iam here wanting to get psyched and it´s kinda dissapointing seeing the clips of the moves before the actual try :(
can't stop chuckling at Louis's "oh dear" at 19:53 with the wubby music immediately after having shared deep thoughts thanks as always for opening up & sharing! you truly inspire and motivate your following not only to grow & show kindness to oneself as a climber but also as a person :)
For you, your legacy might be achieving V15. For the rest of us, in the 100s of 1000s, your legacy is inspiring us to love climbing, to cultivate what might be a life long passion, to climb better and to bring positive energy into every aspects of our lives. (At least for me). So thank you from this corner of the globe. 🇹🇭❤️
One of the greatest things about climbing is that age is MUCH LESS of a factor than in so many other (physical) sports. Look at the absolute crushers in their 40s and 50s (Dave MaccLeod, Chris Sharma) climbing 8C/9b like absolute lads. I started in my early thirties, and my goal is to hit 8a sport and boulder, and it feels achievable. With your strength, if you can find a boulder that suits you and is somewhat nearby, I definitely think with projecting it, that it's in your reach!
🗽 7c is a bit too hard for me... 🤨 Louis, you don't have to be the best climber, to make good videos! You have to perform good on the videos, present a good show and help other climbers with ideas. That's all. There are many excellent climbers, but they never could explain to normal people how to climb better. 👊 .
Love it Louie. Very relatable. Having gone through cancer twice in the last 4 years, I have also come to the conclusion that I can still enjoy climbing even if I’m not at my best ever level. But of course I m motivated to try to get back to and beyond. And if I don’t that’s ok too I’ll still be grateful for having such a fulfilling lifestyle. Your dialogue about self talk I think is great for a lot of people to hear. And we watch you for you man, not for the grade level. You’re a great coach we all learn a lot from you.
When you open up and are vulnerable with those off the cuff conversations it's quality. Seeing similar things mentioned in coaching videos just isn't quite the same (though still useful). Keep up the good work and congrats on the finals!
It's super useful for me to hear you talk about your mindset and how to get out of your own way, and that's the thing i most watch you for. I'm really hoping the lesson sticks, at some point ;) But, seriously watching and listening to you has led me to try a greater variety of climbs (dynos, even) coming back from two hand injuries.
Love the channel, been watching for at least a year or two now. Just some feedback on this video, I wasn't a fan of cutting to Louis doing the moves while he explained it, felt like spoilers for what was coming. Didn't stop me from enjoying watching Louis crush some hard stuff though 😁
I normally love these videos but I found this one very difficult to watch with the decision to show Louis do the moves as he's describing them - by the time he's climbing I've already seen the moves!
I'm 65 in 2 weeks and I am still training and climbing. I do compare myself to my former self but it's never helpful. Sometimes I can use the comparison as fuel to train harder but it does sap the joy at times too. You're still very young mate and super strong. Keep at it. V15 is just around the corner. 💪
The editing is really enjoyable! You planning in observation intercut with how it's executed is awesome otherwise it's mostly climber talk 😂. We do all watch you cause you are fun and motivating. It's the atitude, man.
Always love to see Louie crushing hard boulders! And also love to see Louie talking about mindset and his experiences maturing as a climber! Good video for the soul right here
Great video. Loved the editing with short shots of the moves when Louis talks about his plan, and the little conversation about motivation and imposter syndrome was really interesting to hear.
I absolutely love hearing you talk about mindset and I love watching these ‘Louis Tries Hard’ type videos! Watching you break down climbs, from talking about the beta beforehand to breaking down what you were thinking and how the climb felt, is really useful on top of just being fun. And Sam is such a chill and supportive friend 😊 Awesome show guys.
I watch your channel all the time. Most of us struggle with the same imposter syndrome issue. I'm 47 and semi-retired and still struggling with it.😂 Just know that you're looked up to by those who desire to learn and achieve your level. If I ever achieve your level, I'll still look up to you as someone who helped my journey. Thanks for being an educator and motivator. Cheers!
People don't like you because you are the best climber. People like you because you are a very good climber, have a good attitude, and your content is entertaining and often educational. I have learned more from your videos than probably any other source.
@louis don't worry about imposter syndrome. There's excelling at the sport and then there is selling at teaching and communicating the sport. This is something I learned from my jujitsu teacher who is probably in the top 5% BJJ practitioners but top .5% when it comes to teaching. I feel that mirrors what you excel at. You are a phenomenal communicator and teacher of the sport of climbing.
I’m here for the Louie feels! I appreciate your willingness to analyze and share some of your struggles, they’re definitely relatable for a lot of people.
Its not about deserving, youre just an awesome human being and so nice and fun, I remember a time, where you just plopped up in some random videos and I always thought, how genius it would be if you had your own youtube channel and I can be inspired by your positiv additude and strong climbing. So this worked out pretty good!
Something that makes me love Louis so much is that he has this harsh inner critic and is so open about how negative his own mindset can be, and yet he is the gentlest, most supportive and positive person to every other climber he meets. His positivity isn’t fake-it comes from a deep understandjng of toxic negativity and a personal struggle with it. He doesn’t act like he’s above the psychological issues that he preaches about often. That makes me trust your advice and also-wish you would treat yourself with all the kindness you give to others! That reflection was one of the loveliest bits of climbing philosophy I’ve heard in a long time. Thank you for sharing. You may not be the greatest climber but you’re definitely one of my favourites.
U were saying there are way better climbers than you and you don't deserve as much attention. I don't watch you because you are the best climber, I watch you because you are very charismatic, fun to watch and pleasent person 😉. Definitely worthy of the attention you are getting!
Damn, same comment just a minute apart 😊
I was going to say the same thing, I echo this strongly!!
There are many way better climbers. There are not many way better climbing teachers.
Yeah. When it comes to TH-cam, it's not about who is best. If it was then Magnus wouldn't have 4x as many subs as Ondra. It's about who is watchable/likeable/interesting/relateable etc
Totally agree. Love watching you - echo this sentiment completely.
After Louis reflections on his V15 dreams, I wondered if it would help him to train with another trainer and be the student for once. Don't get me wrong, from all I know he is an amazing trainer, climber, and very knowledgeable. But maybe it helps to a) add a different focus for a while and b) to put some of the burden of planning onto someone else's shoulders, so he can be more in the moment.
yeah he needs to share the burden of his dreams with someone else
@@colemantrebor6574 nice
Would be interesting to see as well
I came for the climbs, I stayed for the internal reflections 🙂
This content is what I really love man. Just you climbing... Love it!
loved the philosophical part in the middle. Thanks for the deep insights and keep it up !
You taught me several if not many, techniques/methods/concepts that helped me tremendously to become a better climber. So I will say this, you definitely deserve the fame, if not more, and all your achievements :)
It so fun to try stuff Louis recommends and to "find" it for yourself, especially the game/fun drills
A friend of mine once said that he doesn't like to watch your videos because you flash every single boulder lmao
I'm just gonna leave it here lol
Louis, please never doubt your success. You have an incredible skill that sets you apart from all the others. There are very few, if any, climbers at your level that are able to impart their knowledge upon anyone willing to learn while retaining an unmistakable positivity and infectious psyche quite like you can. Love your positive mindset paired with your try hard mentality🙌 I find those to be a rare attributes in parts of the climbing community! Plus your beta style is insanely inspiring😄 keep crushing dude🤙
It’s not about being the best Louis, we love you for your climbing expertise and winning personality!
The editing on this video is gold star, loved the cuts to louis doing the moves as he's explaining it!!!
Yess me too!
Louis, please don't think you're an imposter! Yes, of course there's even stronger climbers out there, but I don't watch this channel because I think you're the strongest climber in the world. You put it so perfectly, I second that ☝️
Having rambling chats about mindset is one of your the biggest strengths, and one of the main things that makes this channel special. (Seeing you having a great time together laughing about Voldemort jokes is another one.) Please always include them! 😊
You're definitely NOT an imposter...

The flipping master Louis. 8a second go!!
Louis is not climbing in the world cups to give others a chance. What a great guy
Doesn't matter how many better climbers are out there, what matters is your beautiful personality ❤
Would love to see the board training!
This video is awesome, Louis and Catalyst crew!
Louis, your perspective and mindset here - and how you're feeling physically - remind me of Magnus. Thank you for all the tips and psyche!❤
I use a lot of your and coach Be's tips for warm-ups and climbing 😊
Louis looking insanely strong this sesh
Climbing and video were brilliant as usual. The chatting about goals and comparing yourself to others and your younger self was the best!
The emotional chat was my favourite bit of the video btw and would love to see more of it in future :)

im one of the first people to watch this beautifull video!
love that you guys shown a preview of the climb while Louis is explaining what he's gonna do ! nice touch
A joy to watch as always Louis 💪🏻👌
Absolutely lovely video. Great climbing footage, great human footage. 10/10
I think there could be marketing potential for catalyst shorts.
I like you way to explain the climbing tips and tricks
Louis, your humility and personality is what makes us love watching you!
Great video, congrats on making finals mate!
What does "cutting loose" mean? Have heard it in a few videos recently.
Loved the really honest words, talking about the struggles we all know slightly differently (:
"This was disappointing" referring to a hold is a very relatable feeling
19:02 - Hahaha I was not expecting that film outro style "Dreams realised" cut, absolutely amazing!!
That chat about self comparison was so relatable! loved it!
So happy for your success, what a feel good video!
Captain Cutloose turns Captain Humble. Class act, as always.
enjoy the chapters in the 30s seriously 😳
Love the format of this. Louis visualizes his beta - and we see clips of him actually executing the way he visualized it. Awesome
12:45 too funny. Sam has stepped up his banter game!
From an outside perspective are a triple threat/champion. Great at climbing, teaching and film. People strive for one of those everynday. It's wild that you see the value in everyone else but not the insane value you bring to this world. Xo
IFSC rules say bolt holes on holds are in, bolt holes on walls are not :D
"I don't deserve the attention" Is exactly why you DO deserve it!
Why don't you do a video with Magnus? He mostly relies on his intuition, while you cleary think stuff through and have methods behind things. I would be very curious to see you guys climbing together, as you have such a different background...
You’re easily one of the main influencers that keep me going on my climbing journey.
Thank you for making this video ❤
Why would the volumes not be in? stupid way to set
Louis - were all here for YOU, not for the climbing. The climbing is the medium through which were learning about overcoming ourselves. Keep staying out of your own way and you'll keep achieving.
The upright rows are for practicing pulling up your harness loaded with trad gear
Honestly loved the dialogue about self perception within climbing, would love more content similar to this.
That's interesting what you said about your internal reflections, because once i've seen you participating in BIFF (I believe it was January of 2020), and it felt like it was not going well for you. And you were going circles seemingly being sad or even mad about your performance. love the rambling chat about mindset and emotions
I think a lot of people star watching you for your climbing and staying for your personality. You deserve this because you are such a positive inspiration!
15:30 "if doubting your skill is not gonna go away, might as well ignore it"
am I tripping or is that deep? 😂
Love the video! Thank you for sharing these thoughts with us! ❤
More chatts!! Mindset is important and seeing a personal side of a youtube star like yourself makes this journey that much more interesting!

Great effort! I think the editing is quite bad though, it spoils the runs.
The rambling bit was amazing. Like the insight into your long term thoughts on progress!
can't stop chuckling at Louis's "oh dear" at 19:53 with the wubby music immediately after having shared deep thoughts
thanks as always for opening up & sharing! you truly inspire and motivate your following not only to grow & show kindness to oneself as a climber but also as a person :)

Love the talking so much!
I loved the ramble about mindset and goals, it is just as inspiring as the hard climbing is.
🗽 7c is a bit too hard for me... 🤨
Louis, you don't have to be the best climber, to make good videos! You have to perform good on the videos, present a good show and help other climbers with ideas. That's all. There are many excellent climbers, but they never could explain to normal people how to climb better. 👊

Upright rows are for your mid and rear delts Louis!
Thanks for the vid !
I couldn't go climbing today because of a persistent cold, happy to see you try hard in my place 🎉
all of it was good, love the honest authentic dialogue!!!
I went to the UK earlier this year and climbed at this gym. It's cool to see the same room I was in in the video :)
Great video as always! Louis you’re a beast and a lovely person as well. Keep up the good work
Love the channel, been watching for at least a year or two now. Just some feedback on this video, I wasn't a fan of cutting to Louis doing the moves while he explained it, felt like spoilers for what was coming. Didn't stop me from enjoying watching Louis crush some hard stuff though 😁

Sometimes I can use the comparison as fuel to train harder but it does sap the joy at times too. You're still very young mate and super strong. Keep at it. V15 is just around the corner. 💪
I don’t like you for how hard you climb, just think you’re an interesting dude… with lots of good stuff to share.. - from the states
I watch your videos because I watching people who are passionate about their sport and you have that by the bucketload.

Louis is my favourite style icon.

Been watching your content for the awesome tips and honesty. Helped me a lot while trying to push plateaus
