thats because from the moms POV, getting old is ok and preferable. being gay is a strange oddity that is unpreferrable. she would still love her daughter but from a a distance. although she seems already sort of distant
Yup. She ain't that bad, a lot of parents take it totally for granted for their kids to support them and fix their problems once they hit a certain age, like "I did all this for you, now it's your turn"
Kevie Xiong I’m from a strong Russian family and anything outside of traditional culture is refuted. Anything less then perfection is not good enough which leaves us all kind of seeming angry to be honest lol. Traditional marriages and societal roles are promoted heavily and enforced sometimes.
The Russian (Edit: this was an assumption! I don't know their background. I've had many comments correcting me but this was just my guess!) mother and daughter make me sad. The daughter cares for her mother and said she will always take care of her (never put her in a retirement home) but her mother will only love her from a distance because she’s not straight. So sad
Unfortunately in Russia most of the people are not tolerant and this is a very big problem :( I hope that someday we, people in Russia, can be more acceptable
I laughed so hard. I’ve been saying something similar since I was like twelve. “C’mon, I was young and stupid back then.” “-You were young and stupid two days ago???”
Very few people talk about this and is probably THE reason why so many people opt for multiple c-sections AMA and sexual dysfunction in relationships after birth. Yet another reason why proper sex education is so important.
I love the realationship the black dude has with his mom, it's really cool that they can talk about anything like that, their bond seems to be so strong, I specially love the part where they ask how straight she is, and he's all like "I can answer that, it's -5" hahahaha

That breaks my heart having a mum say she would love her but from a distance. The only thing a parent should ever care about is if their child is happy.
I agree. It's also a generation and culture thing. No excuses per se, however how you grow definitely can influence that. If I remember right, Russia is still having raids and hunts to find gay people or anyone apart of the LGBTQ community (they say they aren't, but what country would honestly admit to doing such acts?). It's still such a big deal for them. The fact that she is definitely from an older generation, but still says she'd love her, is still good if you look at it from a different perspective. This may not have been a comment you were looking for or even expecting, but I just wanted to say it. Mostly because I feel like there could be a lot of judgement without trying to fully understand everything about a person. Still, you can have your opinion on if she's a good mom or bad, I'm not going to stop you there. Since my opinion is a very neutral mother who probably had it rough, and it made her rough, but still tries her best.
I would feel the same way about my kid. I mean, my kid can do whatever, but I dont believe in gay marriage. But that's me. I wouldnt go as far to say that I would love them distantly, whatever that means, but it wouldnt be the same kind of relationship.

@Adelina Mustafic maybe in your culture the mother’s harsh but with her context I have to at least agree. If you spend all your life doing hard work while taking care of a child and your significant other doesn’t give any shit, you have the right to establish the rules and her education rule is gonna pay of in the future (except if the daughter has mental illness and needs help more than education).

thats because from the moms POV, getting old is ok and preferable. being gay is a strange oddity that is unpreferrable. she would still love her daughter but from a a distance. although she seems already sort of distant
Yup. She ain't that bad, a lot of parents take it totally for granted for their kids to support them and fix their problems once they hit a certain age, like "I did all this for you, now it's your turn"
