Speaking for the UK, driving licenses are super expensive to encourage people to use public transport instead of having a personal vehicle UNLESS it's electric which is cheaper.

Talking about licenses, in Alberta (a province in Canada) you can get your learners license when you’re 14, so you can drive with a person who has a drivers license, at 14

About the expensive license thing, I'm pretty sure it's to scare away people from loosing their license since it cost them so much money in the first place. It become a more valuable item which you don't wanna risk loosing.

Here in Tennessee, there is no age limit to drive farm equipment, so technically, you could have a 3 year old driving a combine down the road...

the reason that deiving licenses are so expensive here is because it's not the government that is doing licenses. it's private licensers. so you have to pay car maintenance, the tester's paycheck, gas, and all that jazz, it also takes about 2-3 months to fully complete it. it's basically like paying for school

I'm 17 years and 3 months old rn and I tried to apply for my drivers license on my 17th birthday (May 9) but couldn't apply due to lockdown. You have to be 17 to drive where I live

On the driving topic... if you live in the country in Nebraska (where I live lol) you can get your permit at 14. That’s the earliest you can get in a car in NE.
