  • Bangkok Fans better watch this: BANYAN TREE BANGKOK is one of the most iconic buildings in Thailand! Part of my series "6 Nights - 6 Luxury Hotels in Bangkok"
Come with me for a night with breakfast in the OASIS ROOM of the BANYAN TREE HOTEL, and have a drink at one of the most famous rooftop bars in the world, the MOON BAR!
Although visible from far away, the hotel is quietly set back on Thanon Sathorn Tai.
Our way leads us through the elegant lobby with grand piano and light jazz music to the reception. In addition to a welcome drink, there is also disinfectant balm that smells really great for a change.
The Banyan Tree Bangkok is very well known as a particularly beautiful and slim skyscraper. The hotel is famous for its Vertigo restaurant and Moon Bar, high above the roofs of the city - and that's where we're gonna enjoy the sunset and evening today.
NB: The hotel pools in Bangkok are open again!

"Vertigo" is a great name for the roof-top bar, indeed!! As much as I love a good martini, I'm not sure alcohol and altitude would be a good mix. What a beautiful hotel....what a treat to stay there.

Interesting review Chris. Wow, I would love to visit the rooftop bar. I have had some wonderful times at several different rooftop bars in Makati, Manila. Always a great experience to be so high up yet still in or on a building !

Hi John! Thank you so much for your feedback! I totally agree! (Manila, another town I should visit sometime - along with a good visit to the country)

I would go for Octave (cheaper, nice) and Vertigo (very special place).
If only one, then maybe Vertigo because the whole experience is more memorable. Not cheap but you really get something nice for your money.
Another amazing bar is the Bamboo Bar at the Oriental Hotel. An old-style bar, with dark wood, ceiling fans and mirrors. Not cheap at all, but beautiful with very good live jazz and excellent, world-class drinks. And the Oriental Hotel was called the best hotel in the world for many, many years (before 2000) - it still is one of the best addresses worldwide
Just be reminded that for Vertigo and Bamboo the dress code is smart casual. It's fun dressing up for it a little, though. (Tichuga too, but less)
      Cru Champagne is overpriced imo
Tichuga is okay - a bit too expensive for what you get.
