    This is a really helpful video. I'm trying to get better at drawing in general and there are a lot of great tips in this one. Thank you.

      So glad you enjoyed it!! The “fastest” way that I can give you Drawing tips is through my “floral drawing challenge” (linked above). It’s free and shares 5 of my very favorite drawing tips-some that I picked up in college and some that I learned along the way! Good luck!!

    I really appreciate the the verbal definition of the process thin to thick lines, why they a are skipped or dotted or faint. Your work is very pretty

    Oh Katrina, I’m so happy to tell you that I have drawn my first realistic BEE 🐝 and it’s all thanks to you. I’m grateful that I found this video again. I’d watched it some time ago when I was still into the whole doodling craze and wasn’t ready to draw realistically. Lately, I’ve felt the pull that there has to be something more I want to do beyond doodles and starting with bees is a perfect entry point. Next up for me is line and wash bees since I love that look. Thank you for sharing your awesome talent. Blessings to you!

    I know I’m responding to a two year old video, but I wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching this video (and bringing it into practice). I’m still bad at drawing but my wife did recognise what I was trying to draw! And that is improvement in my book.

      The real time helps a lot. I can see I need to slow down a lot by this video.

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We tend to think that “faster” is “better”. Sometimes I still fall into that trap! But when I’m in the zone, I’m slow but things go so much smoother!

    I love your tutorials, but as an art teacher, can you show your reference image. I like to show my students some video tutorials when I don't have time to make them and nearly 100% of them on youtube never show what they are looking at as they work. So I can't explain to the students how the artist is interpreting what they see. Keep being amazing!

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In more recent videos I share the reference! This was one of my first (if not my first) drawing tutorial and I was totally a newbie! Never had taught drawing over the computer before and my brain totally left me, lol

    Hi! What kind of material I have to use to first draw?

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re asking what supplies I used, it was an HB pencil and probably mixed media paper

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To create the sketch, I simply did the steps I talk you through in the ink but in pencil.

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a fun challenge! I will add it to my list :) But you definitely could just by following the tips in this video: find a good reference image, add strategic texture, draw what you see, not what you wish was there ;) Happy Drawing

    I’m sad because there was so much drawing done in the beginning and no slowing down. Also all the talking in the beginning distracted from drawing process. I was unable to follow. To me, this did not feel like a how to. You’re talented tho, wish I was able to learn from this video.

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not a step by step tutorial, no. I’m talking through the process for drawing something from a photo and how I solve problems. I don’t think that step by step tutorials actually help you learn to draw. It’s better to work off of the picture

      Try to increase the brightness and the size 🤍 the instruction still applies even when the initial sketch is a little harder to see
