    There seems to be a missing element of sexism in Izzy's character. Like, the movie portrays him as this great guy but there's stuff like Tammy saying they made fun of her for being a female boxer, or Izzy not wanting anyone to know he's hanging out with the girls. The film implies that Izzy learns to stop looking down at girls, but we never see him being unlikeable at the start.

    • @AP-pk6mk

    Random memory unlocked: My local YMCA had a Jump In! "premiere party" for all the kids in the neighborhood (me, my little brother, and probably 8 other kids actually showed up) but I remember this bc they gave us all tiny yellow dodgeballs and magnets as freebies..🤷🏽‍♀ apparently the party was sponsored by VERB, a physical fitness campaign created to entice children to get outside and be active, kinda like Nickelodeon's Day of Play
    ….we are all just happy to go home with something fun to play with!

  • @cgsoldier4196
    @cgsoldier4196 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

    26:13 Answer: Because they needed to market to black kids. Don’t get me wrong a lot of black kids at the time, me included, liked High School Musical. But it was clearly Disney’s more mainstream project. I mean HSM merch was EVERYWHERE. Hell, Cheetah Girls merch was everywhere. Jump In? Not so much.
    That’s probably why classifying this as a cult classic makes sense. It’s a good movie, one of the best DCOMs of that time, but it came at a time when there already 2 big franchises. Jump in was literally in the middle of HSM and Cheetah Girls 2. So it kinda flew under the radar. When I think back, most of the promotion about this movie was that the star was in High School Musical. Hell, the only time “Push It To The Limit” was performed on a large scale was on the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL CONCERT TOUR!!!

    I just love that this movie introduced a lot of kids to double dutch. Being surrounded by white kids and having them want try it instead of using one rope after this movie came out was kind of cool

      Except the execution is a little more mature and in my opinion better. Not saying HSM didn't do a good job with it but it was just better in Jump In

    one thing that really set this movie apart from so many other dcoms is that instead of making rodney a typical one-dimensional bully character, they gave him depth and a legitimate character arc

    Ngl I ate that love line plot up 💯💯If they didn’t become love interests little 8 year old me would’ve been upset lol. My friend’s and I at that age were obsessed with any type of love plot in any Disney live action shows at the time lol 🫣🫣
    Edit: but yeah that age difference thooo 😬😶🥸

    OMG! FINALLY!.. I thought I was the only having to silently cringe until I broke my silence and corrected people on "It's not Static Shock", that's the name of the SHOW, not the character. His name is "STATIC"... that's it...
    And cut them off at the sound of "Buh" before they could say "But"...
    No. End of discussion. If you don't believe me, look it up for yourself, and do please remember to look for this middle-finger in the footnotes. Thank you.
