As a boxer personally, I understand the love for roping (most people/boxers who use jumprope, develop a love for it because of foot movement) so I think him choosing this instead of boxing only exemplifies his love for it, and seeing his admiration for the girls during their performance only enhanced what he once knew about the craft and footwork

There seems to be a missing element of sexism in Izzy's character. Like, the movie portrays him as this great guy but there's stuff like Tammy saying they made fun of her for being a female boxer, or Izzy not wanting anyone to know he's hanging out with the girls. The film implies that Izzy learns to stop looking down at girls, but we never see him being unlikeable at the start.

Jump In was Disney's first hood movie on the low. As someone who was a little black kid with an afro and was the only guy in his first grade class who could double dutch for more than five minutes, it was funny to me. Underrated Disney movie and Push it to the Limit is still fire today.
Disney must’ve still been making Keke Palmer their next star when filming this movie, considering it was filmed a year after her unaired pilot that never got picked up. She’s even got 2 songs on the soundtrack. Also, Shauna (Shanica Knowles) is Amber from Hannah Montana. Just learned that.

"premiere party" for all the kids in the neighborhood (me, my little brother, and probably 8 other kids actually showed up) but I remember this bc they gave us all tiny yellow dodgeballs and magnets as freebies..🤷🏽♀ apparently the party was sponsored by VERB, a physical fitness campaign created to entice children to get outside and be active, kinda like Nickelodeon's Day of Play ….we are all just happy to go home with something fun to play with!

This movie had so many clichés I swear and Disney keeps repeating the same nonsense even with new stuff. There was good potential but at the same time there's a lot that could've been written out, like certain characters, there was no need for romance or random subplots, the "bullying"... but that's Disney for you 🤦🏾♀️they don't ever learn That Sportacus joke got me though 😆😆 I was thinking the same thing
Truly a great classic. It really was the breakout moment for Corbin’s music career and Keke’s acting career. It has some flaws but it was the mid 2000s with some messages not being executed properly like today. The soundtrack was also a bop too, I think that this was the only non musical movie to get its own soundtrack at the time (scratch that: Stuck in the Suburbs also got a soundtrack)
Honestly, I feel like another reason they made the relationship between Izzy and Mary romantic to avoid people assuming Izzy was gay. This movie plot can already be used as symbolism for a closeted character 🤷🏾♂️ Just a theory tho

one thing that really set this movie apart from so many other dcoms is that instead of making rodney a typical one-dimensional bully character, they gave him depth and a legitimate character arc

I think him being likable but having these slight misogynist takes is precisely why this is so realistic
