Joey Giardello UD10 Gil Turner

A highly entertaining fight of two halves between the intelligent pressure of Gil Turner, one of the best fighters to never win a world title, and future middleweight champ' Joey Giardello. Turner is not allowing Giardello to get his rhythm but in the 7th round Giardello times a crunching right hand that changes the dynamic of the fight.
6-4 either way or a 5-5 draw could be argued but all in all it's a terrific fight between two very, very good fighters.

Gil had a very brave manager he was a terrific WW but not a MW. Joey was indeed a great fighter often overlooked by the young so called experts today. Turner is WW champion today. Floyd would have been run out of the ring by the WW’s of Turners generation

Man, these guys knows how to box. Giardello is slick. I had seen him once or twice, but didn't knew he was that good. Turner did some great in fighting here and fought with great spirit. Good fight.

Gil Turner came up in the Welterweight division 147LB Gil was a slick aggressive boxer however he did not have the punch to be considered a serious threat to the middleweight champions of the time. Joey Giardello was Gil Turners introduction to the bigger fighters of the middleweight division in this his April 7, 1953 Loss by Unanimous Decision over 10 rounds. Gil gave an outstanding account of himself against the future middleweight champion of the world Joey Giardello.

Giardello was a phenominal Fighter!! He only ever trained hard enough to win, he was not a fanatic in training, as Marciano was......Had he been, he would be the Greatest Middleweight of All Time!!

Turner's punch resistance was never the same after this fight. He took way too many right hands in the closing rounds from a big, strong middleweight.

@simba30 I agree wholeheartedly. Could make 147 comfortably with a day to spare, would batter Canelo at 154, and if he didn't take Sergio's crown he'd give him the toughest fight of his career.
