The surprise WP at the end startled me a bit.
There actually IS a version of the Worn Voltaic Spear you can acquire as an exotic drop in-game, but under a different name. Al'ir'aska, and it doesn't look as "worn" as the Worn Voltaic Spear does.
You may say that you don't do well in Fasion Wars, but that Necromancer is on point!

You can still obtain the chest piece from every guild armor type through the 'guild armorer' in your guild hall. The rest of the armor however, remain locked. I believe it was a part of the PvP armory/wardrobe system which has been removed a short time after the game release. A shame we can't have it anymore

That's strange, I have part of the Guild Archmage set unlocked (not just the chest) and I don't think I went to spvp a single time before they did the pvp wardrobe merge / removed the pvp mystic forge. I haven't the slightest idea where I got them, if that's true!
@@UltimateWeeGee it was default equipment for every new character - all you needed to to to own one, was to go to the heart of the mists like once before the removal. Then during the wardrobe change you would be attributed skin unlock.

Dragon rank was actually never reached in the old PvP rank system, and the highest ranked players were at Phoenix when the update hit. I believe the Wiki has a mention of this too!

Oh hey! that was actually me who commented about the primitive spike in the first video. Some other comments about that skin, I'm pretty sure one of the grawl NPC's in the game uses it. If I remember correctly, you can see a shaman using it in the personal story where you help the grawl.
Talking about NPC's that use skins that we cannot use, there's also this other staff skin [&Cm0fAAA=] that is used by the Olmakhan elders but is unavailable to players. The speargun/harpoon switchup is common with a lot of weapon sets. The only consistent thing about Anet is its inconsistency
As a shield collector, the dark moon shield has been a thorn in my side for years now. It's the only one I'm missing now.
That Vision of Equipment ones interesting.
Its related to the "Vision" season legendary trinket.
Its a similar case on each of the map within Season 4 having a collection.
Each map had a collection to do, which was supposed to unlock a vendor item. Purchasing the item would tick off an objective of your map's collection.
Instead, upon unlocking the Map Collection - it was auto unlocking tasks you've already completed - such as creating the Heralds backpiece. Therefore the vendor got confused, as there was no need to purchase an item.
I think it was heavily bugged where some were unlocking the wrong parts
of collections. Currently, on my account, it shows the Sandswept Isles vendor still has a locked Vision Equipment that requires the Olmakhan Bandolier (finish the 32 slot bag quest..which id already done).
The problem with it being a live game means, that if you start fixing collections on release, it can lead to some weird happenings. For starters, there were bugs where the vendor items were unlocking things on the wrong map collections. There were other bugs related to individual steps in collections relating to the Corsair armor (that was awards for map meta achievments). However episode 3 had the joko staff item instead.... so this meant anet updated the collectoins to something more appropriate and people having the wrong parts unlocked by mistake.
I guess the games now in a permanent state where it can't retrigger the vendor item
I don't know any details but the account unlock system is apparently set in stone too. I once chose the incorrect birthday armor set and I wrote support to see if I could switch to the one I wanted (I hadn't used any of the skins but of course it auto-unlocks the set right away). They told me that wardrobe unlocks could not be taken back at all on their end, so I was stuck with it. I found that pretty interesting.
I remember previewing that shield in the PvP locker and dying to have it. Was really cool at the time.
If i recall the Celebration Cap was a townclothes item. So when the wardrobe system came in this system got replace. If you had the item equipped on your townclothes, talking to Black lion guy in lions arch should unlock it as a wardrobe skin. I spoke to the NPC on my other characters and thers a few early on things you might be able to reclaim .
I don't think it was a tonic , though you're correct for other town clothes that are full outfits.
Its nice though, because now you can dye the cap!

The celebration hat was a helmet skin. I still have it unlocked for my account's wardrobe.
@@KageNoYugata indeed. Originally these were town clothes. Its now a a dyable helmet you can mix with any gear

3:16 as far as I kept track of those, they were "Default" PVP armor sets. They got lost somewhere along the wardrobe introduction, and removal of PvP-only armors.
EDIT: I just noticed someone was faster with exactly same point....

The Celebration Hat from back at pre-launch was actually converted to just a normal wardrobe skin. Available (well, not not available) on all three weights and has three dye channels, though the dragon icon isn't dyeable. Really happy about that hat, especially considering how some other stuff like the GW2 T-Shirt was turned into a stupid tonic.
I also have a few of those guild armor skins unlocked in my wardrobe. The guild defender shoulders specifically are the equivalent of the banded pauldrons, one of the more beautiful shoulder skins. The difference is that they hover a bit further from your shoulders so if the rest of your setup is more on the bulky side, these'll look better. I don't think they ever properly removed a skin from the game that became unobtainable, they're just not shown in the wardrobe by default.
I think the confusing Harpoon Spear Speargun naming is a thing in multiple sets, not just these.
Oh and on a pathetic note, I'm actually only shark rank! I almost never play PvP and currently have a 15-season streak of 0 games played, but I have made Diamond and Ruby before and am mostly done with the stuff for the backpack.
Well, if it makes you feel better, the clothing tonics can be exchanged for outfits....
I always listen until the end because the music is so good. And I love the way it starts to fade in before cutting to the endslate.
There's also a lot of male body types for both human and nord that have been removed or have not put into the character creation that you could see NPC used.
You didn't comment on this but the Ebon Vanguard Trident and Staff have the same model. Such a careless mistake.

The chest armor for the initial guild set is still available. However, the remaining set was part of the PVP armor sets. It shares a near-perfect match with armor from Caudecus's Manor.

Chest piece, cape, banner, backpack and weapons with guild logo are still available. The rest of the armor setts are the same like a other sett so you can still have the whole sett.
You brought back bad memories of forgetting to mystic forge the last of my pvp weapons before patch day... I ended up missing out on potentially a lot more exclusive skins, but I did still end up with the full tribal cloth set which was a very nice set that has since been made available in the legacy armor reward track. I also got some more expensive skins - Wings of Dwayna and Infinite Light which is kind of cool.
I used to run the guild coat for the longest time. I just liked the look of it, didn't really have a guild to speak of. I didn't know they removed that.
Really liking this series. I hope there's a few brave arenanet souls that will someday bring us all this old unused content.
Interestingly I have both the Guild Archmage Robes *and* Guild Archmage Pants in my wardrobe, but no other parts of the set. I have no Idea when or how I got them. The Archmage Robes seem to be still obtainable but it feels cool to know I have something that is otherwise unobtainable now.

I think you answered what ANET will do for anniversary gifts and achievement rewards: caps, motes and capes.
There once was a system where the skins you earned in pvp was entirely separate from pve. They got rid of that system, but allowed people to keep what they earned - so people who got the original Hunter skin for example still have it. Through this way I still have a lot of those guild skins. It's sad that they got rid of them even though there are similar armor still in the game. They fit differently.

I probably said it thousand times on numerous occasions and I feel I have to say it again: Guild Wars 2 is a game of incredible potential with very few of them realised. If they only had the balls to rip it apart and consolidate their systems once and for all instead of leaving a trail of spaghetti hard coded mess.
The problem with the Ebon Vanguard Trident is it's the exact same skin as the Ebon Vanguard Staff. At launch my Mesmer was very "Ascalonian" and she had a full set of Ebon Vanguard weapons that a Memser could equip, so I am very familiar with that disappointment.
I think they accidentally assigned the Ebon Vanguard Staff skin to the trident, because the two available ones seem to be identical. The Hawk Trident skin is probably supposed to be the one assigned to the cultural trident.

Yeah, i agree that they should add those. For those random skins though that don't belong to any sets they could just update the champion bags and put those in there. Or make them avilable as drops from world bosses or something just to give the community more incentive to do those things.
There were some great combinations of things you could do back in the day when we used armors as skins for other armors differently than we do now. We used to not, for example, instantly unlock a skin so everyone on the account could wear it. As a result you couldn't mix and match across factions, without doing some tricks.
The most impressive thing I saw, which I sadly didn't get to high enough level in anything to do before they got rid of it (not sure if the people were grandfathered in who did pull it off), is a Human cloth wearer using T2 Sylvari cultural armor.
And of course, the old outfit system. :(
was anybody a dragon before the update hit? i always thought the highest person was at phoenix, i remember everybody freaking out getting to see the dragon finisher for the first time. i think i was a bear or a shark before the update

I still remember the guild armor! Played with it in spvp at the beginning, but it got really boring. Didnt knew it isnt in the game anymore.

WP I know you have recorded all the graveyard episodes already, but if you extend it maybe a section on NPC only armors seeing as they started giving us the norn stuff recently.
For example in asura personal story is Peredur. As far as I can tell he has a chest piece no other character has and judging by appearance looks more like what the previous version of sylvari were going to dress like. Or the one asura wearing human cultural. There are several more in vanilla story that could be made available to players.
Seeing as these exist but just not for players maybe it's more purgatory than graveyard

So, I assume the answer is yes, but have you crafted the Banner of the Commander? Vision of Equipment specifically cites that as a prerequisite to unlocking it. Perhaps it requires a new one to be crafted since it was created, though that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. Once the Commander Banner is unlocked in wardrobe it should be the key to that one.
I watch that far into the outro when im in the middle of fight in fractals or something and cant switch to your next episode

I'm lucky i unlocked the guild armour, whilst it was available, i'm just missing two pieces, but it is weird how heavy is missing some pieces.
Next GW2 graveyard Stronghold? I'm slightly kidding but would like to hear your thoughts on pvp. Personally I kinda wish anet stayed on the "we can't/won't do skill splits." Since the nerf hammer patches while good idea overall went to far. Just an example, no damage on any cc skill even if its an elite with a huge windup/telegraph or whole weapons like warrior hammer/mace.
My hat is in my wardrobe. Not sure how long its been there. I don't recall it being a tonic like my OG town clothes.
I just realized I have the toy packs and some of those guild pieces too. All three chests (which wiki says are still obtainable) but also light shoulders and legs.
@@lightyearz81 indeed the cap was a townclothes item but these ones got converted to wardrobe skins. I thibk similar oness like a witches hat had the same scenario. If your character had it equipped when they added the wardrobe feature you can speak to an npc go get the skin.
The more outfit looking townclothes were indeed converted into tonics... Now tradeable into outfits. Youre correct

I still remember before the wardrobe I had a few skins from the very first super adventure and to make some room on my bank I got rid of them and there's no way of getting those skins back

I don't think anyone ever reached rank 80 pre wardrobe. I remember there were 10ish people who were phoenix but never all the way to dragon. I guess it would be possible if you were botting hardcore in hotjoins, but as far as I remember the distance from rank 79 to 80 was like the same as 1 to 70 but im not sure if thats correct.
Yes it is wood, yes it is. On the video itself: I hope some dev sees this ands starts looking into it. They could even make it a small release by attaching an achievememt to it, reworking/adding 1 or 2 underwaterskills, and calling it content. It would be lit
There are a number of armor and weapon skins that were lost with the pvp/pve wardrobe merge that have been re-implemented through a few pvp & WvW reward tracks, my go-to example is the “tribal” armor, it was unobtainable for about 3 years before it was re-obtainable. They could always just add more selections to the end rewards from those tracks, probably a more boring implementation, but also less effort, maybe.
What I think my guild got a vendor selling the guild outfit. My thief just got trenchcoat

The temple of the ages. GW1 has statues to Dwayna, melandru, Lyssa, Grenth and Balthazar.
Fast forward 250 years. GW2, Kormir has been built, kinda makes sense after the events of Nightfall. But Balthazar, and the entrance to FoW, aswel as Lyssa are gone. Not sunken, not in ruins. Gone.
What is your opinion on these missing statues? I hate the idea they just sunk or something. Seeing as they are probably the 2 most prominent and current event featured gods.
I hope it is a 9 year foresight by ANET, though I’m doubtful!

Maybe not as cool since it's gem store related BUT I recently noticed that the Glint's Gaze and all similar helm skins (green, Bloodstone red, and purple) are unavailable to be previewed? Typing in their item codes shows nothing??
Obviously they rotate gem store items all the time, but it was the first time I'd ever seen something just seemingly GONE. I've seen players with it! Certainly hope its not gone for good

Did they upgrade people to the dragon rank in PVP? I don't think that is true as I am still at the wolf rank from when I stopped before those changes happened. Also, the celebration cap information was also wrong as it wasn't turned into an outfit; it was simply unlocked in the wardrobe. I think you are thinking of the dragon emblem shirt which was turned into an outfit. other than that, keep up the good work.
So everyone is a dragon apart from me, because I came late to the party... but I guess they tweaked the progression through the ranks? Because I'm on Tiget and I haven't played that much pvp.

Alright not quite that, but it's really nice music and it helps give your channel identity. I'd miss it if you removed it. It's also really nice with playlists (or just the Watch Later queue) so that there's a bit of a break between videos.

Hey WP, Im curious of your opinion on racial Elite skills. Do you think ANet will ever balance them to be useful. Should they? I feel like it's a shame to have all these flavorful skills be mediocre compared to class skills.

well actually WP, if i go to my wardrobe and search for guild archmage, i have all 6 skin pieces unlocked. same for the 3 heavy and 6 medium armor pieces. I also have the darkmoon shield skin
