Got half way through the video and had to buy the book. Nice Christmas present to me. Haas is a great artist who happens to work with a camera, simple.

I meet Haas at a 3 day small group seminar back in 84. He was like an oracle of wisdom and insight.

Some of these images are heartbreakingly gorgeous. I get the feeling I could have taken some of these images. Now that I’ve seen them I can steal the thought and make it my own. If you are going to steal, steal from the best.
    Merry Christmas.

Spectacular photography, some of these are so good that he must have waited until the lighting was perfect.

Digital cameras can't reproduce the beautiful color pallette of Kodaf transparency film. I love Haas' bullfight images!

A lot of people shoot film these days, including me, and suffices to say we aren’t Haas (although I like to believe that I made some memorable images). The gear doesn’t make the photograph.

Need to pick up my camera more... I love his work. I don't want to sound like I'm finding excuses, but everything looked so much nicer back then. All the clothes, the colors, the cars, architecture, the signs... I'd be looking for things like that but not being able to find it I guess. To me all those things are just aesthetically more pleasing

This makes an interesting topic. Thanks for contributing- Personally I would think the same at times, pictures from past century’s would grab me in there rawness.
I also believe it’s important to capture your environment during todays times because they will also look interesting in 25 years times.
Maybe I’ll make a video on this very topic soon

A master photographer in both use of colour and perspective. I wonder if Haas influenced the German-Canadian Fred Herzog?
