It's a decent solution for an open office environment to provide some privacy and noise isolation on phone calls at a normal volume, but I agree that it wouldn't isolate sound enough if someone went in there and was screaming.

Shortly after I posted the comment I pressed charges on my neighbors and they have been cooperative. I laid outside next to their fence while their dogs barked and waited till one person came outside. After a couple of hours one guy comes out and I pop up and say “hey %# put your damn dogs in the house I’m tired of begging”. He told me “you have 10 seconds” Whatever that meant it infuriated me. 2 years of disrupted sleep took my control. Unknowingly to them, my family has owned most of the land around here since the 1700s and are heavy in the police force. Not bragging but just giving you an idea of the zero fs I gave. I stood outside and screamed to wake the whole neighborhood up to really stir some news. I blew the horn and shined a laser light in their window, put shockers on their fence and sent 2 police officers to their house to take their dogs. I have countless recordings of me asking them nicely. They could have just listened the first 300 hundred times I asked nicely and still live in peace but they now are looked bad by the whole neighborhood not only because their dogs but their grass is overgrown and people have had enough.

I left the company not too long after that, and not too sure how something like an indoor phone booth works with all the infectious disease precautions that are common now, but while it lasted it was a good place to make a semi-private phone call while without leaving the building. Also good in open offices when you need to jump on a call with someone to talk shop but need basic noise isolation. Just don't start screaming, though, because everyone will still hear you : )
I'd think not if you wanted total sound isolation, but I'd be curious to know if additional noise insulation would help. The door, especially, seemed to be where most of the sound was getting through.

Yeah definitely a bit pricey. You could probably insulate a closet with foam and get a better result.
