All the big three grading companies make mistakes all the time, why? Because they are just regular workers who frankly don’t give a crap about our cards as we do. They will all make mistakes because they don’t care. I use cgc and I hardly have any issues with them. But I know they are far from perfect, so is Psa and Beckett (Beckett is the most consistent tho). All in all people need to stop holding grading companies in high regard. The grading companies don’t care about grading your cards nearly as much as you do. They all lie and pretend they do. It’s all about money really. Sad but true
Beckett graded a trimmed Jordan and CGC is grading every single thing that is cut…hand cut sheet disco zards, hand cut “errors.” Every single grading company is making mistakes but CGC is a straight up joke. They are a sinking ship of a card company and taking drastic measures and grading everything if it puts money in their pocket. CGC is becoming another SGC.

CGC constantly sends back cards AA for being polished. I've had it happen to me many times with vintage holos I sent in from BGS slabs I cracked. So they definitely check it to some degree. Most people who do it intentionally and sneak them through usually do it through bulk submissions with their D squad grading them. BGS and PSA do nothing to check.
Completely agree!! Grading was meant for special cards, not every card. The sportscard mongaloids started sending any and every rookie card calling it “speculating”, not sure why you wouldn’t wait until after the player proves themselves before grading? Instead of spending $25 to PSA for a 20 cent card? Im about to send a few cards to CGC for grading because i like graded cards, all grading companies are pretty much the same outside of the holder itself, these cards dont have red on them so they look better with a grayscale label, and despite what people like you want everyone to believe the overwhelming majority of grading experiences are seamless and positive for everyone. Just wanted to break it to you gently, i know this must be hard. I think you should try to find a way to be comfortable with the fact that some people collect graded cards and you dont. And thats OK.

I only grade PSA. And it’s always inconsistent. The submissions you get back clearly show that it’s “whoever was in whatever mood that day”. I’ve gotten shit back that should of been 5 or below, and came back a 7 or 8. And vice versa, perfect brand new set card with no scratches, straight from pack to sleeve/card saver with perfect centering, and it gets an NM 8. With the demand they have, and the modern technology available… they need a software of some sort to scan these cards with. You’ve honestly inspired me to binder up most of my vintage Japanese or English WOTC era cards, versus trying to grade every single one. The nostalgic feeling hits harder from my childhood seeing them in a binder. Opposed to having all these “slabs” that kind of make me feel like a modern “charizard-bro” douche bag. I still have 30-50 slabs that I admire and will never sell. But this hobby has completely gotten out of hand.

However he’s pretty much 100% right with most of his takes.. if you really love this shit as an adult or a even child, you appreciate the art and just having the cards to admire. You’re not trying to grade & flip 24/7. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sell slabs on my eBay account. But I always try to make a fair deal based on the current asking price. If it’s a 250$ post and someone offers 200$ I typically just accept it meet in the middle to help us both out. I can’t stand greedy scalpers that ruin the hobby for kids and life long collectors. I have coworker who’s grandchild loves Pokémon and is like 5 or 6 years old. I always donate my bulk and unwanted V or Vmax pulls to him, means nothing to me and everything to him. It’s small things that count, and most modern collectors have lost sight of that.
Hey even if people don’t agree with me or like me I encourage them to tell me and everyone how they feel. I’m very opinionated and have a way of thinking, but I genuinely like seeing what people have to say about any topic. It’s the best part about having the little slice of the community I have. I dunno man. I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but I went back and looked at shinyverts video and it’s not obvious to me that these cuts are made with scissors. They all look straight to me, it’s not like he sent in cards with weird shaped edges that would hint at someone using scissors. I guess I don’t understand what sort of technology you would use to decipher a machine cut from a scissor cut. If you had a collectors club member who regularly sends in cards and is well known with the company, why would they assume they are cut with scissors? I can totally see why cgc took this route. He literally sent cards in with the intent of deceiving the company. I don’t really think this stunt was good for anybody. It’s think this is just going to lead CGC to stop grading errors, or at least miscut errors. On another note, I know of a couple instances where people sent in cards with Kurt’s card care that were sent back for being polished. It kind of seems like cgc is an easy target for content right now and everyone just piles on. @hulkingmass No grading cards is absolutely stupid. And serves no point but to put it behind a piece of plastic. Because the grating companies themselves have proved that you can send a card in multiple times and get different numbers each time. Very common strategy to crack a slab and send it back in to get a higher number. No I pick up vintage slabs that are in lower numbers like 5-8. That nobody wants, they're cheaper than a loose copy. And you can crack them and take the card out. Did it with a couple neo Genesis cards ended up saying like 20 bucks off. A loose copy, which is crazy.
I think the point you made with volume is spot on. If they slowed down theyd have a whole other problem with people blowing them up for that instead so they definetly chose quantity over quality. That being said what id hope to see is everyone agree that all grading by and large was started to only line the companies grading pockets. Its really a scam from top to bottom with pop control shady practices backdoored slabs ect. Use it as a form of protection or to make more money but i dont see how anyone would like any of the companies. Maybe in the future we as a whole move on being told our cards are gooder than the other guy next door but likely not
IMO errors are typically first print typos or where the whole card is cut off centre to an extreme; otherwise they are just damaged and worthless like a crimped card when it was packaged. Policy and guidance clearly lacking.

I recently went on a reckless spending binder buying a bunch of higher-end modern singles with the intention of sending to PSA. But honestly, these grading companies make me hesitant to submit lately. I think imma toss them in the ol’ binder for a while.

I will say its worth keeping an eye on TAG grading if they can build that business to scale and grade mre than modern sports cards. The transparency on their grading looks incredibe and for content creators the grader cards kinda turning into packs makes for some extra box opening content. They could be dead by the end of the year or be the company that changes the industry fr the better only time will tell.

I use to be all about buying slab cards but after seeing multiple of yours and other chreqtors videos about how bad grading is I've just grown so attached to just collecting cards and having either a binder collection or buy my own hard cases. He had to have known this was coming. If it was only done to see if they would be graded then the cards should have been cracked. That would have made it clear there was no ill intent and was only a test.
CGC claims their experts in the field of grading which will screw them in any legal battle they attempt. Even if one tries to deceit them on purpose, they're suppose to be the experts and catch this kind of stuff. Way to many times people or company's claim to be experts until they're not and then they cry wolf. CGC got embarrassed and is now butt hurt so they threaten legal action which really changes nothing, they're still f00ls who graded cards that were obviously altered and it's out there that they did so but again they are the supposed expert in the field 😂😂😂
It's kind of funny that CGC, PSA, and BGS get named as the "Top 3" but truly, in grading numbers alone SGC is on #2 on that list. I personally only trust PSA for consistency (on average), but if PSA were to take a deep dive, I'd happily go with SGC. I personally think SGC has the best looking slabs, and when I'm looking at SGC graded cards, they seem to have the most consistency.
@@Techno4more I'm curious, do you grade with PSA often? I only grade with PSA and I've noticed very little inconsistency in grading in recent times. That said, grading will ALWAYS be subjective - no matter how they try to pitch it - so inevitably you'll get a grader that is "unfair" or "too lenient"
@kid_gen yeah I used to grade the vast majority with PSA. they are inconsistent. I think my hitrate is around 80% at turning psa 9s into psa 10s. No joke. If they look good crack the 9s. You'll get a 10 most likely
I don't understand how it's alright to press a comic, but you can't do anything at all to a card or they want grade it. Bc when you press a comic, all your doing is altering the comic. Example: A comic gets graded and comes back as a 5.5 or whatever. Then you get it pressed and get it regraded it comes back as a 8. Well, that's an altered comic. Crazy how that's OK to do. Don't make much sense to me at all. Bc if you can press a comic and make it a better grade, well, we should be able to make all are grades higher grades. Without it being considered altered in any way. WHEN they press a comic they can add paint. Make the pages white again. They can do all kinds of stuff and it's still not altered at all. WTF HOW IS THIS ALRIGHT. ITS FU€KING ALTERED. SO ITS A FAKE. AKA ALTERED.
Some great points. It’s pretty true, grading is all about volumes and market share unlike what it should be about which is quality and assurance. It’s a mess.
So basically you hate cgc because they are trying to differentiate themselves by offering services and taking stances other grading companies dont, there are armies of status quo loving content creators hell-bent on deceiving them and making videos about it. There will always be only one grading company, and their 10s will be offcenter and full of edge wear, and people will have to pay a 40% premium for these terrible cards because of people like you.

I use sgc. People laugh at me do to resale but there's very little controversy besides them being a bit easier on whitening/print lines but tougher on centering (they even said on video centering is most important as it's the eye appeal of the card)
but indeed the resale is bad.. i just saw a sgc 10 moonbreon japanese going for 1k less than the psa10 version and the sgc would forsho got that psa10 too
Best thing to do is to use grading for proteting the cards you care about in your collection and not worrying about the grade of the cards themselves. Grading just doesn't seem truthful anymore.
PSA had a recent situation with Rookie Michael Jordan's being faked with autographs, now a bunch were taken out of the system. Now CGC. Ever since I saw your video around a year ago about how they weren’t detecting the chemically altered cards, I made sure to never buy one of their slabs. Really glad I made that choice, especially since I’ve been seeing shit go around now about how peoples cards have somehow gotten moldy in CGC slabs and stuff like that
The part he left out is that no grading company is going to reliably catch them, so avoiding CGC isn't going to solve your problem. Do you think Kurt's card care is in business just for CGC submitters? He very intentionally tries to make his audience believe CGC is uniquely deficient in all of these ways, when its simply not true.

I agree with not grading right now. There needs to be actual standards and accountability. Every grading company needs to provide a basic report with every card. It has to be part of the process anyway, so provide it to the customer and be transparent.
Slabs are no go for me after seeing these videos...good old sleeves and a binder. CGC should walk down the sewers after how they responded to that Shiny Vert video.

I had some CGC graded cards I got in a trade a few months ago and just broke them out of their slabs two nights ago. Simple, wear some protective gloves and place in a plastic bag, thenjust smash where their rating is and VIOLA!! SMASSHHHHHHHHH
Yikes...the way I deslabbed my cards was to just take pliers and break one of the label corners off and then you can get a flat head screwdriver in and literally pry the two layers apart and its super simple.

In CGC Defense: It is possible that Shiny Vert had been a loyal customer($$$$$) of their for years and they didn't think he'd pull something like this... ...HOWEVER that isn't an excuse. CGC needs to up their game and treat ALL graders (big $$$$$ or small $ who submit) with the same scrutiny...Also, I think CGC should just own up and freeze the error grading if this is the return we can expect from them. Unpopular opinion here- Not a CGC fanboy but what do you think they should have done? Clearly they thought they errors and graded them as such. People make mistakes. This guy, however, went and intentionaly lied and sent cards he altered himself as specified error cards. He knew he was not sending error cards, but chose to send them under the premise of them being errors. He intentionaly tried to setup/scam CGC. You know you are altering cards yourself, and then sending them as errors. How does that make you the righteous party in the situation? I mean come on. Think about it. CGC made an honest mistake. You cannot say the same for the guy who purposely cut his cards and loed about them being errors. And as anyone with a brain would understand, you are signing up to adhere to their terms and agreements when you choose to grade through them. So you are then obligated to adhere to those terms and agreements you signed yourself up for. Its all in the fine print. If it says in the fine print that they can request the cards back under certain circumstances, how are they the bad guys for requesting the cards back? The dude signed to agree to the terms and they can hold him accountable for that. Read what you sign. Check the fine print. Dont be dumb. CGC, as a business, is simply trying to correct the mistake, learn from it, and move forward. But somehow people label CGC as the bad guys here. Not the guy who intentionaly try to deceive them by cutting his cards and sending them as errors. Strange world we live in.

The whole point of these grading companies existing in the first place is that they're the experts and they grade and authenticate cards. The fact that they can't even grade And authenticated fake and altered cards to the massive red flag Basically means they can't even do their job, right? And shouldn't be trusted to grade and athenic cards.
If I tell you I'm an electrician, and I can fix your problem when I walk away do you expect the problem to persist? I don't just claim to be a professional, and when someone tells me they're an expert at grading cards i trust that they can spot easy to see scissor cut lines my 9 year old would laugh at.
Now we need someone to do a video on troll and toad, they send played cards as NM but then when you sell cards to them they say you're NM cards are played and give you even less than they already are or keep the card and give you nothing

I only grade PSA. And it’s always inconsistent. The submissions you get back clearly show that it’s “whoever was in whatever mood that day”. I’ve gotten shit back that should of been 5 or below, and came back a 7 or 8. And vice versa, perfect brand new set card with no scratches, straight from pack to sleeve/card saver with perfect centering, and it gets an NM 8. With the demand they have, and the modern technology available… they need a software of some sort to scan these cards with. You’ve honestly inspired me to binder up most of my vintage Japanese or English WOTC era cards, versus trying to grade every single one. The nostalgic feeling hits harder from my childhood seeing them in a binder. Opposed to having all these “slabs” that kind of make me feel like a modern “charizard-bro” douche bag. I still have 30-50 slabs that I admire and will never sell. But this hobby has completely gotten out of hand.

However he’s pretty much 100% right with most of his takes.. if you really love this shit as an adult or a even child, you appreciate the art and just having the cards to admire. You’re not trying to grade & flip 24/7. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sell slabs on my eBay account. But I always try to make a fair deal based on the current asking price. If it’s a 250$ post and someone offers 200$ I typically just accept it meet in the middle to help us both out. I can’t stand greedy scalpers that ruin the hobby for kids and life long collectors. I have coworker who’s grandchild loves Pokémon and is like 5 or 6 years old. I always donate my bulk and unwanted V or Vmax pulls to him, means nothing to me and everything to him. It’s small things that count, and most modern collectors have lost sight of that.
Hey even if people don’t agree with me or like me I encourage them to tell me and everyone how they feel. I’m very opinionated and have a way of thinking, but I genuinely like seeing what people have to say about any topic. It’s the best part about having the little slice of the community I have. I dunno man. I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but I went back and looked at shinyverts video and it’s not obvious to me that these cuts are made with scissors. They all look straight to me, it’s not like he sent in cards with weird shaped edges that would hint at someone using scissors. I guess I don’t understand what sort of technology you would use to decipher a machine cut from a scissor cut. If you had a collectors club member who regularly sends in cards and is well known with the company, why would they assume they are cut with scissors? I can totally see why cgc took this route. He literally sent cards in with the intent of deceiving the company. I don’t really think this stunt was good for anybody. It’s think this is just going to lead CGC to stop grading errors, or at least miscut errors. On another note, I know of a couple instances where people sent in cards with Kurt’s card care that were sent back for being polished. It kind of seems like cgc is an easy target for content right now and everyone just piles on. It’s strange that the boys haven’t made a bunch of videos about PSA grading all of those fake lorcana cards a couple of weeks ago. Love ya @opossumbud but I gotta disagree with ya on this one.

it would be even better if we could all agree, across the ENTIRE TCG sphere, that grading is a gigantic fucking scam because without question, IT IS. Imagine trusting some literal who nobody working at minimum wage in a fucking warehouse to tell you how good the condition of your card is. If I send a card in, get a grade, crack the slab and then send it in AGAIN and get a different grade, clearly they have some fucking consistency issues, and that has been happening ever since this grading bs has been around, not just as of recent.

@hulkingmass No grading cards is absolutely stupid. And serves no point but to put it behind a piece of plastic. Because the grating companies themselves have proved that you can send a card in multiple times and get different numbers each time. Very common strategy to crack a slab and send it back in to get a higher number. No I pick up vintage slabs that are in lower numbers like 5-8. That nobody wants, they're cheaper than a loose copy. And you can crack them and take the card out. Did it with a couple neo Genesis cards ended up saying like 20 bucks off. A loose copy, which is crazy.

I think the point you made with volume is spot on. If they slowed down theyd have a whole other problem with people blowing them up for that instead so they definetly chose quantity over quality.
That being said what id hope to see is everyone agree that all grading by and large was started to only line the companies grading pockets. Its really a scam from top to bottom with pop control shady practices backdoored slabs ect.
Use it as a form of protection or to make more money but i dont see how anyone would like any of the companies. Maybe in the future we as a whole move on being told our cards are gooder than the other guy next door but likely not

IMO errors are typically first print typos or where the whole card is cut off centre to an extreme; otherwise they are just damaged and worthless like a crimped card when it was packaged. Policy and guidance clearly lacking.

I recently went on a reckless spending binder buying a bunch of higher-end modern singles with the intention of sending to PSA. But honestly, these grading companies make me hesitant to submit lately. I think imma toss them in the ol’ binder for a while.

I will say its worth keeping an eye on TAG grading if they can build that business to scale and grade mre than modern sports cards. The transparency on their grading looks incredibe and for content creators the grader cards kinda turning into packs makes for some extra box opening content. They could be dead by the end of the year or be the company that changes the industry fr the better only time will tell.

I use to be all about buying slab cards but after seeing multiple of yours and other chreqtors videos about how bad grading is I've just grown so attached to just collecting cards and having either a binder collection or buy my own hard cases. CGC claims their experts in the field of grading which will screw them in any legal battle they attempt. Even if one tries to deceit them on purpose, they're suppose to be the experts and catch this kind of stuff. It's kind of funny that CGC, PSA, and BGS get named as the "Top 3" but truly, in grading numbers alone SGC is on #2 on that list. I personally only trust PSA for consistency (on average), but if PSA were to take a deep dive, I'd happily go with SGC. I personally think SGC has the best looking slabs, and when I'm looking at SGC graded cards, they seem to have the most consistency.
I really love their slabs also but they need to make them a bit smaller
Sgc was #2 in numbers but cgc has surpassed them actually. And sgc is mainly in sports. I haven't used them for pokemon.

That said, grading will ALWAYS be subjective - no matter how they try to pitch it - so inevitably you'll get a grader that is "unfair" or "too lenient"
@kid_gen yeah I used to grade the vast majority with PSA. they are inconsistent. I think my hitrate is around 80% at turning psa 9s into psa 10s. No joke. If they look good crack the 9s. You'll get a 10 most likely

I don't understand how it's alright to press a comic, but you can't do anything at all to a card or they want grade it. Bc when you press a comic, all your doing is altering the comic. Example: A comic gets graded and comes back as a 5.5 or whatever. Then you get it pressed and get it regraded it comes back as a 8. Well, that's an altered comic. Crazy how that's OK to do. Don't make much sense to me at all. Bc if you can press a comic and make it a better grade, well, we should be able to make all are grades higher grades. Without it being considered altered in any way. WHEN they press a comic they can add paint. Make the pages white again. They can do all kinds of stuff and it's still not altered at all. WTF HOW IS THIS ALRIGHT. ITS FU€KING ALTERED. SO ITS A FAKE. AKA ALTERED.

Some great points. It’s pretty true, grading is all about volumes and market share unlike what it should be about which is quality and assurance. It’s a mess.
So basically you hate cgc because they are trying to differentiate themselves by offering services and taking stances other grading companies dont, there are armies of status quo loving content creators hell-bent on deceiving them and making videos about it.
There will always be only one grading company, and their 10s will be offcenter and full of edge wear, and people will have to pay a 40% premium for these terrible cards because of people like you.

I use sgc. People laugh at me do to resale but there's very little controversy besides them being a bit easier on whitening/print lines but tougher on centering (they even said on video centering is most important as it's the eye appeal of the card)

I agree with not grading right now. There needs to be actual standards and accountability. Every grading company needs to provide a basic report with every card. It has to be part of the process anyway, so provide it to the customer and be transparent.
I use CGC for comics and I’ve been telling the Pokémon TCG community that they were dumb and I would get laughed at down voted

Honestly I agree, I think all of the grading companies kinda suck and are all inconsistent, but it does add value to some cards. I'll probably still keep using CGC cus the new pricing is pretty cheap and it doesn't take like half a year to get your cards back, that's the biggest reason.

I had some CGC graded cards I got in a trade a few months ago and just broke them out of their slabs two nights ago.
Simple, wear some protective gloves and place in a plastic bag, thenjust smash where their rating is and VIOLA!!

Yikes...the way I deslabbed my cards was to just take pliers and break one of the label corners off and then you can get a flat head screwdriver in and literally pry the two layers apart and its super simple.

Not a CGC fanboy but what do you think they should have done? Clearly they thought they errors and graded them as such. People make mistakes.
This guy, however, went and intentionaly lied and sent cards he altered himself as specified error cards. He knew he was not sending error cards, but chose to send them under the premise of them being errors. He intentionaly tried to setup/scam CGC.
You know you are altering cards yourself, and then sending them as errors. How does that make you the righteous party in the situation? I mean come on. Think about it. CGC made an honest mistake. You cannot say the same for the guy who purposely cut his cards and loed about them being errors.
And as anyone with a brain would understand, you are signing up to adhere to their terms and agreements when you choose to grade through them. So you are then obligated to adhere to those terms and agreements you signed yourself up for. Its all in the fine print.
If it says in the fine print that they can request the cards back under certain circumstances, how are they the bad guys for requesting the cards back?
The dude signed to agree to the terms and they can hold him accountable for that. Read what you sign. Check the fine print. Dont be dumb.

The whole point of these grading companies existing in the first place is that they're the experts and they grade and authenticate cards. The fact that they can't even grade And authenticated fake and altered cards to the massive red flag Basically means they can't even do their job, right? And shouldn't be trusted to grade and athenic cards.
If I tell you I'm an electrician, and I can fix your problem when I walk away do you expect the problem to persist? I don't just claim to be a professional, and when someone tells me they're an expert at grading cards i trust that they can spot easy to see scissor cut lines my 9 year old would laugh at.

@@OpossumBud i agree that everyone who sucks need to be accountable, but the people are ultimately the ones giving them the business by sending shitload of cards. every video i see of people opening is them sweating and automatically checking the back of the card for a “psa 10”.. insteqd of being happy they can add a card to their collection, STOP sending shit to grade. theyre the same card inside and outside the slab. until you guys decide to stop sending cards it wont stop, but instead you guys are playing back and forth just to make a video.
@@ProfessorProtean don’t know who “you guys” is, I’ve stopped sending cards into ANY grading company. I don’t trust any of them. I’ve put my money where my mouth is, other people in the community are figuring it out as they go.
