The next question should include modern music made by arabs because in a globalized world the borders of music are vanishing.

As kids, we heard Fairuz (Lebanon) in the house on tape. "Maqam" in Arabic means "maqom" in Hebrew, referring to "places" on a musical scale. Different scales reflect different moods. I teach Jewish high school kids, mostly Mizrahi, in Jerusalem, & every day during breaks they put on both Arabic (like Eyad Tanooys, Moein Al-A'sam, Alaa Aker & many others) & Mizrahi (like Adam 'Omer & many others) music at very loud volumes & start dancing around the room. There are a LOT of new, young, very talented Mizrahi singers who become stars overnight with their youtube hits.
A lot of Mizrahi songs use Turkish melodies.
The most serious maqam in liturgy today is R. Moshe Habusha, youtube him. He was R. 'Ovadiyah Yosef's favourite.

Btw Greek songs also tend to be very Arabic influenced and even use Arabic songs and translate them into greek. Personally I dont really think there is something like an Israeli style music it might be me but Israeli music is just modern music but copying beats and the normal stuf but then in Hebrew it aint bad but it aint special.

The whole concept of Mizrahi is Middle eastern Jews which have middle eastern/Arab culture. I'm reading the comments below , i'm Arab and i'm like :" what's the hell?! ", how these Israeli know Arab singers ; some of them said I like :"Samira Saïd" other said :"Saber Rebaï , Muhammed Assaf , Mustapha Hagag , and Mashrou3 Leila ...etc .Ok i can understand for "Um Kaalthoum" , "Fayruz" , "Farid al Atrash" but how they know the others and the new ones ?! And some of them talk even about the "maqams" ?!!! . This is intriguing me ! We don't participate as Arabs (by choice) on Eurovision and there is no mutual festival between as ! How come ?!!!

As one can see in many of the videos on this channel, the majority of Israelis are descendants of refugees who fled to Israel from Arab countries. Some grew up hearing the older singers in their homes and for them and others and there's radio, TV, internet, music apps & social media to share.

@@2ruehenderson and 2 things about the local christians.
1)quite few of them in israel register as syriacs or arameans and their liturgic and ancestral language is assyriac/aramaic.
      2) i guess there are few "real arab"(from arabia) christians in israel ,like the haddadians who built ramallah(if they didnt convert to islam in the meantimes). but we dont have clash with any particular christian community in israel, they almost never appear on the news for good or bad. so arabs in the israeli street slangs almost always refer to muslims(non arab groups who speak arabic and we dont have good relationship with, like the bosniaks-busnaks and the africans in jerusalem old city-also call themselves arabs and we refer to them as arabs). many druze in israel dont refer to themselves as arabs so this concept was more enforced in the israeli public.
maybe the more accurate term would be "non jewish singers who sing in arabic",he just used the common perception in israel.

    • @netanelzion
      @netanelzion 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Red Fox cool and not all jews believe"god promised them the land" and are more than willing to split the land in a way that will allow israel to keep its safety.people use gross generalization. and sadly most of our confrontation are with people who are either of muslims (religious) or of muslim background(can be atheist but of muslim background). as i say we have very little problem with the christian (and people from christian background)here and almost no problem with druze arabs(or people of druze origin). and frankly not many people of muslim background dare to say they are atheists in israel, but of course it happens.
you can see it in the way arab leaders speak"jews are the enemy of the arab nation"-while in reality it happened mostly with arab muslim nations/pan arab nations.we had good relationship with the christians in lebanon (and with most our christians here as i said).so in the israeli slang we call christians(either arabic speaking or really arabs, ethnically) just "christians" or "from christian background".

and therefore you do not love us Jews, but by the way you also love not Arabs, but it is not clear who
    Oh my God!
I don’t understand at all why you even stuck to us to the Kazakhs, is it not clear ??
Yes, Kazakhs are Turks and Mongols, Turkic-Mongols, like me, all Asians, absolutely. And I am a Turkic-Mongol and Kazakhs are all like that and Asians and your nation is Mediterranean - Jews or Jews or whatever you are, absolutely alien to us - and to me and the rest of the Kazakhs too.
    Just get over it.
And to us Kazakhs you seem to be generally Slavs and ancestors of the Slavs, and so it is objectively, you are Canaanites and ancestors of the Slavs and alien to us.
    Is it really incomprehensible ?!
And the Slavs are your nation and the Turkic-Mongols are enemies, okay?
I understand that some may not have become Canaanites of their own free will, but excuse me, it is clear from your nation that they are real Canaanites, and not unfortunate Jews, who such poor things became Canaanites not of their own free will, no. And straight natural Canaanites are arrogant, who brazenly want to be Jews, that's all, in violation of the law, that's all.
And today, objectively, I say, well, naturally to us Asians, to the Turko-Mongols, your Slavic race is alien to us for Asians, and the Arabs are closer and dearer to us, of course, because they are more like Asians and they have a lot in common with Asians, and Jews have nothing to do with Asians at all.
    Clear??
And I am a Kazakh by passport and Kazakhs are like me of Mongolian origin and all are considered Kazakhs and all Asians and not a single Jew are of your origin, like that.
And I didn’t take it all from the ceiling - I’m judging by your descendants who came from you - by the Russian Slavs, they are also the descendants of Canaan and your descendants, by the way, and they were always hostile to me in my childhood and hurt me and even beat me.
And the Kazakhs and other eastern peoples, brought up in the Arabic language, treated me courteously and friendly.
This is because Arabs are an Eastern people, but Jews are not, and we are Asians, too, an Eastern people, and we are Turkic-Mongols, although not white, but Asians and also an Eastern people and alien peoples are Slavs and Jews to us, because Jews are by blood also Slavs and even Canaanites, the ancestors of the Slavs.
    Clear?!
and not a single Kazakh will consider you his own, not only I will not recognize you, and Kazakhs do not consider the Jews their own and do not recognize them as their own, of course. Because Jews are not Asians, but Arabs - Asians and people close to Kazakhs. And all Kazakhs are entirely on the side of the Arabs.
Because everyone knows that Jews are Slavs and a people close to the Slavs.
Especially you and you are also nephelim on the campaign, like your Slavs, that's why you make fun of us people.
And you are a Slav of nephelim origin and alien to me, and a hostile race, an inexorable creature, what is incomprehensible ?!
