Good Point, it is the little things like angles and aiming points on kick out and seal blocks.

Great play I love the double wing .....use to b a Delaware t Guy.... but this play is super power at 6.. try it at 8 hole.... pull two line man a back block end or olb. B Qb blocks SS. Corner .... works like knife though hot butter ...

Well done. A point to emphasize is having the FB run a "banana" route to the DE, getting as close to the PSG as possible on the way to the emlos. This improves the kickout angle, adds to the deception and helps clear the clutter at the hole.

It is blocked early the same way. (play-side) The Nose guard will be in the A gap- he will get doubled by the center and guards. The DE will be in the B or C gap-he will get doubled by the tight-end and tackle.

What if the defense has a 7 down line man look?

Nothing. Same rules apply. Putting more than half your defenders on the line of scrimmage does nothing but leave you with no pursuit players.

The key to this play is getting a good push with the double teams at the point of attack. If the double team blocks do not get movement then this play is in trouble. There is also another way to block this play...you can use a down blocking scheme. Meaning, each linemen will block the first defender inside of them. How you defend this is to cut down the double teams, causing a pile up....like you said congestion. I play two double wing teams and this play is their bread and butter.

@H2HOtex The double wing is difficult to stop, wedge is a nightmare. Like you said the counter is lights out! It is a big play. I also agree, if you do not have the athletes it will be difficult to play defense....cannot really hide weakness on defense like you could do on offense. I love the double teams at the point of attack. You can also run down blocking scheme as well. But, my wing t rocket/ jet series I use along with the double wing is tough to stop.

I like a 4-2-5 vs Wing teams (and any team really), and play it pretty aggressively. There is a risk/reward to what I have done in the past, but most of the time it worked well. It really comes down to the the Jimmys and Joes. Nothing in football works 100% of the time, you just hope what you are doing works more than you opponents.

we have the center say down then the qb say go-readyyyyyyyyy(he holds it so the wb can go in motion)then hit, so down-go-readyyyyyy-hit

Guard needs to get outside the double team, and the tackle needs to fill the first clear gap he can.

Defensive lineman are allowed to hold, and this negates pulling lineman significantly, I have. An end corner and safety all containing outside on both sides so if there is a reverse or they continue there is nowhere to run. We stay disciplined to the backside where the motion back comes from, and we can slant our lineman or even shift. There is no need for penetration, just hold your man in front of you on the lineman and let your ends and DBS be the superstars.

If you watch the video, this is why the splits are tight and the line is back off the line as much as possible. If the offense is taught correctly, and the coach is using his personnel correctly, you won't be able to get to the linemen to hold them. Also, nothing works in and of itself unless there is something else to set it up. A good double wing offense also has a brutal wedge play that is impossible to stop if it has a physical offensive line. So, by all means, don't penetrate, shift on the backside, and get mauled by the wedge. When you make an adjustment to stop that, you will get mauled by the power. This offense is impossible (again, I say impossible) to stop at the youth level if you have the right personnel and the right teacher. A lot of people run this formation and claim they're running "double wing" but there are a lot of nuances, particularly in the o-line blocking schemes, that make the offense special.

Yup the wedge is fucking disgusting, honestly my favorite play to call against teams that aren't going to aggressively come upfield. My Oline favorite play

Playing the 5-4 defense will stop this easily. I tell my defensive tackles to cut down anything moving; so they should be in 4pt stances. The two inside backers are stack over the guards in a 20 technique reading the guards. The DT are in 5 techniques craning at the OT legs staying low. The DE is stack over TE jamming them into the c gap. The OLBs are in a outside alignment of the wing backs. The two safeties are 8yds deep reading the TE. Now let's play football!

    • @YouthFootballOnline

When we play double wing teams it is vital that the DE squeeze down when the TE down blocks and look to gut that kickout block from the FB or pull guard. If you are able to squeeze down and blow up the kick out, it will spill the play outside, allowing your pursuit to get to the ball. You can read guards for sure in the DW offense. Most of the time teams will run to the pulling side. You have to be careful reading guards every play because a well coached team will have plays that will throw false keys (key breakers) at you. You can stop any play if you commit to stopping it. But, there is a complement to every play.

    • @YouthFootballOnline
      @YouthFootballOnline  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Offensively, you can implement key-breakers. Have linemen pull opposite way. The biggest thing isn't so much following keys, its not allowing those double team blocks to drive the defensive linemen back. Also, the DE has to squeeze down, and gut out/blow up that kick-out block.

the corner backs in this play are aligned terribly, any coach putting this defense on the field will lose his job.
