Wow this is like the greatest Bowser battle to date. The quick time events make it feel so cinematic. Almost like you're watching a movie! Can't believe Luigi goes toe to toe with Bowser with no gimmicks. Just one on one and wins. Nice!
I truly love these fights! Luigi gets to fight against many epic bosses and be the shining star of the spot because the attention is given mostly to him. I know there are other games around in which Luigi is the protagonist, but I like this one the most. Even when he is struggling to fight practically alone (being scared and worried all the time) he does his best and wins, that is truly something I love seeing. Mario is common to see the hero, so a change in the hero is always nice.

Well, he DOES breathe fire. Maybe his insides are heat-proof, but his tail isn't? It'd line up with how you make him vulnerable in the original "Super Mario Galaxy", at least.

I love seeing the brothers going total brawl on Bowser. Only jumping will not save you this time. You need some muscles too! Luigi is quite strong who can manage to push Bowser away from him.
You all need to keep this in mind. When bowser grows bigger again, he was already at least 500 feet tall. Luigi just looks normal because he was ALSO at least 500 feat tall. Bowser grew even BIGGER then that. He became so big, that GIANT Luigi looked normal sized. Yet Luigi continued to fight him. Proving that while he was scared (and rightfully so) he still kicked Bowser' ass, Luigi really is the stronger of the two bros. Just wish he wasn't scared so much so he could put out his TRUE strength.
MrWilliam675 I wouldn't say they were both 500 feet they were about 50 or 60 at most in the beginning of the giant battle because if they were 500 at the beginning Mario would be no more than a speck. Judging by Mario size in the giant battle i'd say that both luigi and bowser at the beginning sure as hell aren't 500 feet. for when bowser grow even bigger I say he grew maybe 60+ or more feet idk about that one attally

That's it. This is the greatest boss battle OF ALL TIME. When you have Luigi, cowardly brother to the mascot of gaming, fighting the mascot of bad guys in gaming, Bowser, in a giant battle, it results in a recipe of badassness. I mean for fuck sakes, Luigi is so fucking badass in the fight!

craigmhgg I finally got this game in the summer and beat it. One the greatest RPG's I've played. I loved Bowser's Inside Story many years ago but they somehow managed to top that with this game.

While bis's giant battle theme was super cool and badass, I still prefer this game's theme (Size Up your Enemy) and it accompanies the fight better IMO. But it would've been a great nod regardless!
When Bowser said, "Turning into a giant... I invented that, pal!", he's referencing to Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story, the giant boss battles that, I'm guessing, inspired the Giant Luigi battles from this game.
Seriously, this battle is just amazing, the fact that they put bowser's battle theme on BiS, the attention to detail, with bowser saying showtime, the kameks making it gigantic, it's really cool
I love how, when you have to hold the L on luigi's cap, he doesnt pull it down in fear. He pulls it down with confidence, knowing full well that he and his brother together are unstoppable.
Yep, I agree 100%. I loved how every giant battle sees Luigi get more and more confident. Against the dream stone spirit/Robo-Drilldigger, he's terrified even after growing until Mario shows up. Against dreamy Mount Pajamaja, he's terrified but his instincts override his fear enough to save Mario by hitting Mount Pajamaja with the hammer (the look on his face afterwards is just perfection). Then before Earthwake he nods understanding what's about to happen, he immediately stops being terrified when he grows giant like "okay, I'm giant now, time to kick this thing's butt". Then against the Zeekeeper he's terrified but makes a wall of Luiginoids to protect his brother and still faces to fight when small, and is immediately ready to fight once he becomes giant. Then against giant Bowser he's cool and calm. I love that!
CHRISBRICKZ I don't really know... Probably because they didn't wanted to change the Mario & Luigi games' tradition. The turn based battles with action commands... The bros. attacks... etc. (Sorry if I don't speak English propely)
One thing i think people misses out a lot is that luigi is indeed confident in the fight(also in real world because we can see it) but also happy,happy to overcome the nightmare that bowser is,and happy because one of his many dreams became true. He has the opportunity to show that he is a guy you can trust,not just someone that fears everything and shits himself,he has the opportunity to show mario that he is indeed his brother,he wants to show bowser once again,that they are his best nightmare,the mario brothers ! He wants to show him what a true bond is,a family bond,he isn't just the guy in green with the red guy named mario,they are the guys with the last name being Mario.
Because that's when you realize that this isn't the goofy and incompetent Bowser from the first two games; this is Inside Story's Bowser, aka the one who punched out an Eldritch Abomination, nearly stopped a moving train though sheer force of will, managed to throw back a giant cannonball that landed on top of him, and pretty much showed us why he's King Koopa. And now you have to fight him. Oops. On the plus side, this shows just how awesome Luigi is for standing up to him.
I think dream team show us that ,Mario maybe the bravest of the two brothers ,but this game show us that Luigi is the strongest / most powerful of the two brothers he fought and held his ground against browser while Mario just sat their on Luigi's hat
Its amazing that the Year of Luigi was such a massive flop for Nintendo. This game in particular was an absolute masterpiece, and the reference to Bowser’s Inside Story (“Transforming into a giant… I invented that, pal!”) was the icing on the cake, definitely a 10/10 game

one of the best fights in the Super Mario series and this shows, because its counterpart is shadow the hedgehog, luigi is very powerful to compare it with tails, one of the weaker in sonic series

Bowser was arguably at his utmost powerful in his dream. No special item or powerboost. But his dream. In a dream, you can be a God in your own world. He even creates literal armies and made a fire ball that could engulf a mountain easily. And was even bigger then anything a dream could ever make. And luigi managed to beat him in his own dream. It doesn't matter whether it's a dream or reality, he won't ever beat the mario bros. And the fact this ended up giving luigi his respect shows how much his lost against him meant. Especially in the ending he even corrected himself and said luigis name for the first time.
After the they both woke up, I laughed when Bowser was like "hey Mario, what are you doing in my dreams, that's private Bowser time, not cool" (I don't remember exactly what he said but it was a little like that)
It seemed right to me to play the Giant Battles as a left-hander in this game; not just because I'm left-handed, but also because the Giant Bowser fights in BIS were done the same way. But this fight made me feel that I had it backwards; Bowser being the one on the left makes more sense to me. Also, I don't think I've ever seen the first attack in the final phase, actually. Interesting to see that here.

This has got to be my favorite Bowser fight in any Mario game. Luigi gathers up all of his courage to stop Bowser. It's all up to you. Dreambert doesn't even give any significant instructions, all of your giant fights have unintentionally lead up to this one. Failure is absolutely not an option. Luigi beats the living shit out of Bowser in a fight that he deliberately started.

I'd like to say that I preferred the zeekeeper battle to this one. I can defend my reasoning, too. 1. Bowser relies to much on his minions here, and, for example, since he doesn't try to punch you, it really doesn't feel like the same Bowser as you fought early in the game, or the one that you played in this game's prequel for that matter. 2. Speaking of prequels, this Bowser is not, graphically, the same as Bowser in the rest of this series. If you noticed, The Koopa King's arms are very short and not at all useful for punching, much like the design choices from games like the Mario Parties, or if we're going extreme: Paper Bowser. This left a proverbial, bitter taste in my mouth, and made me remeniscent for Bowser's Inside Story. 3. The Zeekeeper fight was amazing. The previous 2-3 hours of gameplay was intent on finding him, and take it from a veteran of the video game industry: it was clear he was going to be a boss of some kind. His size upon seeing him was an obvious indicator that a giant battle was about to occur. His attacks were well choreographed enough so that you could fight him, but he was not necessarily easy. Just my opinion, but the zeekeeper battle was more enjoyable.
So both your first two reasons are basically : "I don't like Bowser's design." ? Anyway the only reason I didn't particularly enjoy this fight, was because of the fact that certain attacks can take away a third of your health (on normal mode), and he gets to use A LOT of attacks before you do. (While he does rely on his minions a lot, it would've still felt the same even if he relied more on his punches) With that being said, I found this fight way more intense, and somewhat more enjoyable then the Zeekeeper battle, which was already pretty good.
I hate the bowser battle in this game, probably just because I have the worst stylus control ever but I cannot beat this boss not because it's hard just my stylus. The battles in bowser's inside story never relied too much on stylus control or at least you had a bit more space for failure the bowser battle, mainly his shy guy battle ship attack, needs more accuracy than I feel comfortable with. Also button mashing is bad enough but I cannot stand stylus mashing.

I love how, when you have to hold the L on luigi's cap, he doesnt pull it down in fear. He pulls it down with confidence, knowing full well that he and his brother together are unstoppable.
Yep, I agree 100%. I loved how every giant battle sees Luigi get more and more confident. Against the dream stone spirit/Robo-Drilldigger, he's terrified even after growing until Mario shows up. Against dreamy Mount Pajamaja, he's terrified but his instincts override his fear enough to save Mario by hitting Mount Pajamaja with the hammer (the look on his face afterwards is just perfection). Then before Earthwake he nods understanding what's about to happen, he immediately stops being terrified when he grows giant like "okay, I'm giant now, time to kick this thing's butt". Then against the Zeekeeper he's terrified but makes a wall of Luiginoids to protect his brother and still faces to fight when small, and is immediately ready to fight once he becomes giant. Then against giant Bowser he's cool and calm. I love that!

One thing i think people misses out a lot is that luigi is indeed confident in the fight(also in real world because we can see it) but also happy,happy to overcome the nightmare that bowser is,and happy because one of his many dreams became true.
He has the opportunity to show that he is a guy you can trust,not just someone that fears everything and shits himself,he has the opportunity to show mario that he is indeed his brother,he wants to show bowser once again,that they are his best nightmare,the mario brothers !
He wants to show him what a true bond is,a family bond,he isn't just the guy in green with the red guy named mario,they are the guys with the last name being Mario.

I'll bet any M&L veterans (like me) nearly dropped their stylus's at the phrase "SHOWTIME!"
Because that's when you realize that this isn't the goofy and incompetent Bowser from the first two games; this is Inside Story's Bowser, aka the one who punched out an Eldritch Abomination, nearly stopped a moving train though sheer force of will, managed to throw back a giant cannonball that landed on top of him, and pretty much showed us why he's King Koopa.
And now you have to fight him. Oops.
On the plus side, this shows just how awesome Luigi is for standing up to him.

I think dream team show us that ,Mario maybe the bravest of the two brothers ,but this game show us that Luigi is the strongest / most powerful of the two brothers he fought and held his ground against browser while Mario just sat their on Luigi's hat

Its amazing that the Year of Luigi was such a massive flop for Nintendo. This game in particular was an absolute masterpiece, and the reference to Bowser’s Inside Story (“Transforming into a giant… I invented that, pal!”) was the icing on the cake, definitely a 10/10 game

Well to be fair Bowser DID invent that first...
Bowser was arguably at his utmost powerful in his dream. No special item or powerboost. But his dream.
In a dream, you can be a God in your own world. He even creates literal armies and made a fire ball that could engulf a mountain easily. And was even bigger then anything a dream could ever make.
And luigi managed to beat him in his own dream. It doesn't matter whether it's a dream or reality, he won't ever beat the mario bros. And the fact this ended up giving luigi his respect shows how much his lost against him meant. Especially in the ending he even corrected himself and said luigis name for the first time.
After the they both woke up, I laughed when Bowser was like "hey Mario, what are you doing in my dreams, that's private Bowser time, not cool" (I don't remember exactly what he said but it was a little like that)
Being brave doesn't mean having no fear but having fear yet you fight on anyway.

It seemed right to me to play the Giant Battles as a left-hander in this game; not just because I'm left-handed, but also because the Giant Bowser fights in BIS were done the same way.
But this fight made me feel that I had it backwards; Bowser being the one on the left makes more sense to me.
Also, I don't think I've ever seen the first attack in the final phase, actually. Interesting to see that here.

This has got to be my favorite Bowser fight in any Mario game. Luigi gathers up all of his courage to stop Bowser. It's all up to you. Dreambert doesn't even give any significant instructions, all of your giant fights have unintentionally lead up to this one. Failure is absolutely not an option. Luigi beats the living shit out of Bowser in a fight that he deliberately started.

I'd like to say that I preferred the zeekeeper battle to this one.
I can defend my reasoning, too.
1. Bowser relies to much on his minions here, and, for example, since he doesn't try to punch you, it really doesn't feel like the same Bowser as you fought early in the game, or the one that you played in this game's prequel for that matter.
2. Speaking of prequels, this Bowser is not, graphically, the same as Bowser in the rest of this series. If you noticed, The Koopa King's arms are very short and not at all useful for punching, much like the design choices from games like the Mario Parties, or if we're going extreme: Paper Bowser. This left a proverbial, bitter taste in my mouth, and made me remeniscent for Bowser's Inside Story.
3. The Zeekeeper fight was amazing. The previous 2-3 hours of gameplay was intent on finding him, and take it from a veteran of the video game industry: it was clear he was going to be a boss of some kind. His size upon seeing him was an obvious indicator that a giant battle was about to occur. His attacks were well choreographed enough so that you could fight him, but he was not necessarily easy.
Just my opinion, but the zeekeeper battle was more enjoyable.
Except for the damned built-in gyroscope screwing up. That part ruined the entire battle for me.
So both your first two reasons are basically : "I don't like Bowser's design." ? Anyway the only reason I didn't particularly enjoy this fight, was because of the fact that certain attacks can take away a third of your health (on normal mode), and he gets to use A LOT of attacks before you do. (While he does rely on his minions a lot, it would've still felt the same even if he relied more on his punches)
With that being said, I found this fight way more intense, and somewhat more enjoyable then the Zeekeeper battle, which was already pretty good.
I hate the bowser battle in this game, probably just because I have the worst stylus control ever but I cannot beat this boss not because it's hard just my stylus.
The battles in bowser's inside story never relied too much on stylus control or at least you had a bit more space for failure the bowser battle, mainly his shy guy battle ship attack, needs more accuracy than I feel comfortable with.
Also button mashing is bad enough but I cannot stand stylus mashing.
