I am a Khmer-American linguist and my interest is more about the languages of ethnic minority populations in Cambodia. Many of these languages have little to no written documentation or audio recordings. Fewer young people speak their native language as most assimilate to Khmer culture. The Por people of Samlout District in Battambang Province is just one of numerous ethnic minority groups. We need to encourage efforts to preserve their culture and language. Just like man, when a language dies, it is dead forever.
