It absolutely makes no sense that the powers that be will only give us the obnoxiously big and heavy thing, and only if we need it in the house. That huge thing will cost the disabled so much more than the other two chairs that way much less AND fold. You have to completely re-outfit your home to make the clunker fit. If they would just allow us the lightweight folders, it would save space in a crowded home. It would even allow them to travel, but those in charge would rather have us disabled tucked out of sight it seems. I'm still waiting for a simple walker request from LAST YEAR! I ended up saving what I could for an entire year, then had to crowdscource the rest, but I was finally able to purchase an AirHawk but from another company. I didn't know about this distributor until after my purchase.
Hello KitKat, thank you for your comment. We have a few different chairs for those who don't want the "big bomber" Medicare chairs. You can find them here: quicknmobile.com/product-category/powerwheelchairs/
Right people on Medicare don't have much credit...my hubby needs one but our car can't handle a thing to hold it in the outside of the car...isn't it more expensive to out the lift in the car than spring for a lighter one
Seems silly to not cover the lightweight chairs. It would ultimately be more cost efficient. Medicare doesn't care how self-sufficient we are outside of the home, but it should.
Hello Helmuttdvm, thank you for your comment. You are not alone in your thinking. Many people still find it worth it to get our chairs without medicare. quicknmobile.com/product-category/powerwheelchairs/
Just to let everyone knows... There are organizations that will help you pay for a nice portable chairs like this... Talk to your pastor or research programs in your area... I have the air hawk that comes with a suitcase and lots of free accessories... It is awesome... I can do lots of things now with my family, more mobility.
I don't know much about Medicare policy or insurance and what not but how these chairs are considered "recreational vehicles" is beyond me. I have experience with various kinds of chairs and am fully disabled. I prefer the smaller, lighter, folding chairs by a good margin. In all honesty the only difference is the seat and in my experience a fully upholstered chair does not always equal more comfort. And while I understand different users have different needs these folding wheelchairs should at least be an option if it suits a person's mobility needs. I've used larger chairs such as the "Medicare chair" and simply prefer the so called "smaller" light weight chairs. And taking a good look at the base/frame of the units the folding chairs are not really smaller but simply designed differently. I'm a big, tall guy, too. I throw an added seat cushion on and keep a spare battery handy and go anywhere and everywhere I want. Running low on battery charge? No problem. Just pop a battery out and pop a fresh one in. If in need of a taller chair these folding ones might not be for you as the seat height is significantly lower. But otherwise they're just as capable for daily use under ordinary conditions and have an advantage over the bigger, heavier ones in several ways.
I was approved for the “approved” chair through my insurance (not Medicare) and my out of pocket was half of what it would cost for me to buy the Eagle! Of course insurance wouldn’t cover anything for the cost of transporting the approved mammoth that wouldn’t fit through any doors in my home. Basically, I could got from my kitchen to living room in the open concept part of our house. Not useful at all! I was happy when I found the Eagle and felt as free as the birds the chairs are named after!
I have the heavy Permobile 300. I can't take it anywhere unless we hook up the trailer. The Harmar power carrier would not work for our van or truck. I weigh 150lbs at 5'4" and am in the market for a very light power wheelchair, under 50 lbs, with batteries if possible for grocery shopping. I live in Virginia. What would you recommend.
Hi Tracie, Thank you for stopping by to make a comment! The air hawk would be the most suitable chair for you, with just one battery it weighs only 46 lb! With both batteries it weighs 51lbs. You can learn much more about the Air Hawk here: quicknmobile.com/product/airhawk-power-folding-wheelchair/
I am 200 lbs-6 foot- This would be my backup chair-what are thee seating dimensions? what is the extra cost for max battery? Does this charge via house power?
Hello Hal, thank you for your comment. Several chairs have been featured here. You can find the specifics on each chair here: quicknmobile.com/product-category/powerwheelchairs/
@@QuickNMobile is there an easy way to see the main differences between all those seats? I’m struggling comparing them all and trying to find what works best. Thanks

Medicare is 50 years behind on EVERYTHING good for patients.
Medicare really should consider covering these, but they’re well worth the money and are much more maneuverable than the ‘approved’ chairs.
