    Small glitch at 14:26!! Or just user error 😄 Cut it off somehow. My bad! Simply right click and apply grade, or middle mouse on the PowerGrade to apply to any clip going forwards!

      Do you have a tip? I color code my clips on the edit page so I know which clip is which. For example, I do an adjustment clip orange and a - roll blue b - roll purple and so on.
      But every time I drag an adjustment clip into my timeline it's back to the default color and I have to adjust it again!

    with the Color Management tip, if you are using the same camera and color space from project to project, you can set color space input and output in advance and then just save that as the Default project settings for future projects!

      Great tip! You sure can. I didn't go into that as it can cause issues when mixing footage etc, so figured the Input from Media is the safer option :) But yeah, great tip!

      Yeah I end up setting davinci to it's defaults and have pre set power grades for each camera with CSTs for each camera. We use a Canon C200, Canon 90D, Sony fx3, dji action 4, dji pocket 3, gopro hero 10, dji mini 3 drone, air 2s, and iPhone 14 pro res.... having set project settings wouldn't work well for us. Power bin with each camera set up with the proper input CST and Output CST is the only way to go. I have a pre built node tree containing 18 nodes that go on every clip (appropriate still on whatever camera from the power bin) this also saves a tone of time and I know exactly what node effects what part of the image and I can work extremely fast regardless of what colorspace, or codec being used. If I don't need to balance the image for example I won't touch that node in the node tree..... but a the nodes I might need are there if I need them.... this set up works so slick when dealing with multiple cameras with all kind of different settings. Highly recommend trying it out!

    Bonus tip to 18:32 is in the File Name field type % and it inserts inbuilt variables to dynamically name files on Rendering, saving them in the preset helps a lot with Organisation. An EG of one is Mine %{Timeline Name}%{Project Name}_%{Render Resolution}_%{Render Codec}_%{Date Modified}

    Color Management - you need to be careful what you select b/c the option to select Input Color Space may not be there. You must only select clips and clips that were not already updated. So, if you use select all and right-click, you may not see the Input Color Space option. It’s a bit tricky when dealing with a huge amount of clips.

    The Ctrl D mention got me thinking of a question that I have. Ctrl D in the timeline shows the clip duration but what I often want to work out is the duration of several clips (so I can find a suitable length music backing track for example). Ctrl D doesn't work for multiple clips- So, my question (which would make another great Quick Tip) is there a quick and easy way to see the duration of several clips in the time line?

    Any ideas for creating templates? Still hoping you'd give us the tips for creating handy templates that allow to repeat video editing pipelines based on a certain repeated set of steps without (the mundane task of) doing them over and over again.
    Here is a use case:
    1. I have a number of tracks, say a primary track that i apply certain transformations and effects too, and a secondary track that i also do a number of transformations and effects too, including color management, noise reduction etc.
    2. These tracks get video imports from the same camera sources all the time.
    3. I save this project as a template that i can use over and over.
    4. In the future, I simply import the videos into the two tracks, and voila, the adjustments, transformation and edits are automatically inherited.
    How can I achieve this in Resolve for iPad and Resolve for Desktop?

    • @MrAlexTech

      Fusion doesn't use the Proxies I don't think. And Render in Place I'm not sure about, I'd guess it'd use the source actually but not sure. Resolution wise it shouldn't really matter (1080p proxies, max render in place is 1080p i think too), so only the bit depth.

One step further is to have your render cache files on a third internal HD. When I created this setup my problems were gone.
