Obviously, he would likely show a bit more reaction, and handle the evidence more carefully if he was not a Skrull.
@@JamesGrootshe's an LMD. We about to get one of Bill Paxton's characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the third episode to fix the LMD at the order of real Hill. Eventually calling in Zephyr Three. "Or we shall burn Utica to the ground."
Really enjoyed this episode and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. The tension is real. Great breakdown as always. I can always count on an immediate breakdown from Paul right after an episode airs. In the credits it says that Cobie Smulder is a guest star, so I took that to mean that it would be the only episode that Maria appears in. However I didn't know she said that we would get more of Maria's backstory so I really don't know what to think now. Also in the scene with Prescod and Skrull Ross, I interpreted the reason Prescod thought he was a Skrull being because Ross wanted to take away his biggest piece of evidence from him along with the fact that he was being dismissive of the whole idea. Ross acted like he didn't believe him but as soon as he saw proof he was eager to take it away from him. I'm curious as to how Gravik was able to take the form of the child and the woman that Fury seen when he want for his walk. I assume we probably won't get an in-universe explanation and it was just done for the purpose of the viewer. Or possibly since Skrulls get recent memories from those they impersonate, maybe he took Fury's form offscreen and used his memories to f**k with his head.
Paul and Ryan Arey are 💯 the best at this. New Rockstars and other channels have to watch their videos before they post there’s because they’re always last. That’s just my opinion. Yet Paul and Ryan are the ONES 👆My WWE fans will get this.
Sup fellow Spoilerman. Yup I agree. New Rockstars would be up there with them if they released their breakdowns earlier. It baffles me because I know they get the episodes early too. I don't know if you are right and they like to copy, or if they think uploading at a certain time of day is better. Usually by the time I get to see NR's breakdown, I've already seen all the details from Paul and Ryan
I just finished the episode. Thank you for your video exact to the end (I am always waiting for them). Now I was simply shocked by Maria’s shooting and now I cannot wait for the next episode.
My theory fresh from watching the episode is that agent hill was a scroll that entire episode and that she had been one of the 100 or so field agents with hidden identities and that the actuall agent hill is in one of those stasis pods. A big part of this is how fury left almost immediately after she died and the episode also cut off very shortly after and its been shown that skrulls dont transform back immediately after death.
Honestly, I really loved the first episode, what an opening. As soon as trailer footage was revealed, I suspected Ross was a Skrull and I believe that Rhodey, without a doubt, has to be a Skrull as well and I reckon he's gonna kill the president, once he's been exposed. I only say that, simply because he wasn't hesitating to mark Hill and Fury as "AWOL", despite the many times he's worked with both of them and when he knows that they are good people. Just seemed a little suspicious to me. But I can't believe they did Hill dirty like they did at the end. Regarding Gravik though, I think he's gonna turn out to be Super Skrull, because there was footage of him stretching his arm out and it looked very similar to Groot's arms. I had speculated that Emilia Clarke's Gi'ah could be Queen Veranke, but after watching the first episode, I think that is unlikely, however, Sonya might be Veranke instead.
Also this is a great pilot for the show because it truly gets you hooked on the events and plotlines. I feel like most MCU shows haven't been able to do that.... where it leaves you with so many questions and you just want to know the answers. The only ones coming to mind is the first episodes of Wandavision and Loki.
Enjoyed this episode and i figured The Opening with Freeman's Ross but was shocked by Maria shot and died. Love the tone and mystery here. Jackson is shining here. Promising start and excited for the rest. I think Rhodey is a Skrull.
A movie in the MCU with a Kaiser-soze-like ending where the killer is revealed to be a Skrull would be so great. Even more so if the movie is a grounded MCU story with no space/ multiverse connections.
About Gi'ah, I believe she lied to Talos about the handoff to keep them busy. Her bags turned out empty and she said the holding area was kept away from her, but she was in there. Yes, she was shaken about her mother, but it looks like she wasn't able to get out of this plan.
After looking at the Comics Explained clip, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a Life Model Decoy of Hill as Fury warned her in the comics to create them and send them out if she was unsure of her security. I like how you mentioned Tinker Tailor which is why I was delighted to hear Falsworth mention her time in the circus. This show has great potential and the theories going around make it seem like it will. Hopefully it does
I feel if ever someone like Scarlett Johanson ever wanna return for a film, they can use the scrulls to explain it. Like the Scrull that posed as Fury to keep an eye on Spiderman as Fury was chillin in space. Like what if someone like Natasha someone we thought wasn't bliped really was, and to maintain some form of consistency in that crazy time a Scrull took her spot. And the Scrull is what was sacrificed for the soul stone. After all with Natasha's sister visits her grave we hear the same whistle. What if then Natasha came back with everyone and she's just kinda laying low especially since she knows people think she's dead.
During that chase scene with Ross & Talos, they run past a club that played "Acid" which is the same genre of music similar to that legendary Blade opening intro. Not sure if you’re into that sorta vibe Paul but that’s an absolute properrrr banger of a track yeah mate
That ending was a bit of a shock but it then triggered the "Ah! that's why Colbie Smulders' name didn't appear in the opening credits" (or Martin Freeman's!) Good first episode, just hope it doesn't end up going the way most Marvel shows have gone, start well but then kind of fall off like the writers lost interest.
When you mentioned that Hill was told to make "Life Model Decoys", I'm thinking that who was shot at the end of the episode, was Not her. Hoping it wasn't the Real Maria Hill.
the owl is symbolic of hidden knowledge and is big in black magic symbolism. Most people aren't keen on it but marvel is one of the biggest peddlers of hidden occult knowledge in the world. The amount of symbolism in the comics is insane. Its not as blatant in the movies but it's definitely there.
The guy in the pub is Gravick or at least a Skrull… it’s one of the forms Gravick takes when Fury is pursuing him through the festival… the form right before the woman from the bench.
Hill could be so convinced she's human that she holds on to her human form even after death for a while, but that could be a Reed Richards level stretch and Smulders could've just been talking about flash backs... or stuff that got edited out (which would be sad for Hill.) There seems to be differences in scenes from the trailers as they always tend to do (the bar scene in particular Hill says something different in a trailer). There's also the possibility that Fury _doesnt_ survive and a Skrull takes his place from that point keep the secret and explain him being in the Marvels. But I'd probably chock it up to the chaos of keeping everything in this juggernaut running smoothly on schedule behind the scenes.
i agree with your reading of Ross's reaction. He's an agent and not a spy. From what we've seen in the past he does panic when something big gets revealed, so his demeanor in that particular scene is the tell the agent needed .
Pretty sure the Russian in the bar actually was a skrull, possibly Gravik. As the bar patron is one of the identities he shifts to while luring Fury during Unity day. He does the child, the woman, the bar patron, then reveals himself.
I could have sworn I heard a Skrull-changing-sound right at the beginning of the credits. I took this to mean Hill changed as she's the last person we see.
What I like about this show is how Gravik is in complete control. He's watching every move Fury makes and waits carefully like a hunter stalking its prey. Fury is impotent in the face of such a force
The bombs successfully going off and Maria getting murdered(?) were absolutely unexpected! So far, so good... hopefully the show keeps the intrigue intense, but not over done. It can go either way with this specific type of plot point, where any character can be any character. It can easily be used as a cop-out for any reason to move the story forward without putting a lot of thought into the writing.
TRULY I DID NOT EXPECT Maria Hill to get killed off that soon But damn what a way to kick off a show like this If they can continue the tone with this , oh man this might be one of Marvel shows greats , that was a great first episode
Could Gravick be Furys son, and his wife be a Skrull? It would add a deeply personal reason for Fury, but also who he would be so accustomed to Skrull greetings. His crisis of faith was that his son turned into this because he was more focused on saving the world. Definetly a stretch, but just think there needs to be a very big twist that no one saw coming.
Sword vs Sabre. I think there’s a difference, a Sabre was a highly unique weapon of the age as swords are common. The Sabre adds more hand protection to the individual making sure the hand can’t be struck by an off blow, at the same time 1 edge is normally sharp and is usually for mounted cavalry charging at the enemy. Which would make more sense as Sabre would want to lead the charge against threats.
This show is really going for it and I appreciate that. I mean, if they're willing to kill off Maria Hill in episode 1 you know that things are going to get real. I can't wait to see what happens, and how it all resolves!
I had the deep impression that the Skrull leader Gravik will have an interesting back story. I think he can be the first human-skrull hybrid ... The back story about what happened to his father and mother would propel him to take arms against the earth status quo. Just and idea...
What a way to start a series! The first episode of Secret Invasion was off the hook. You couldn't take your eyes off the screen for fear of missing something. The writing was tight and the acting was dynamic. The death of Maria Hill took me by surprise! I was a bit shocked, that was Fury's right hand person. Damn! Looking forward to seeing episode 2. Great show thanks for helping to explain and expand on some things.
I think the reason whyTalos was upset at Furry for killing that Skrull warrior was because he didn't want anymore skrull to die. He expressed earlier his dislike to kill people. And he didn't shoot or attempt to kill ross once, but try to stop him
So I think there will be a massive twist near the end where we find out fury isn’t actually fury. I believe the real fury (aka the one in the marvels trailer) is still in space. They kept making a point to say he ‘changed’ after the blip and I believe that’s because someone is impersonating him. He seems to be really sloppy in this episode compared to what we have seen from him. I think the reason they believe he abandoned his post in space was due to this sloppiness and an episode will end with them contacting the space station to find out he is still there and the fury we have been following is someone else
I think that probably was Maria…the end credit as a guest star suggests she’s not going to be in many future episodes (same with Ross) That said, I cant believe she wouldn’t have some sort of bullet-proof vest on at a time like this, so they may have suspected this might happen, hence Gravik aiming for a head shot before stopping we he sees Fury and meaning he doesn’t get to shoot her where she isn’t wearing protection Edit: Oh and Fury being “off his game”…I really think that the limp, the appearing rusty, etc is all a play to throw people off. He knows his reputation, he knows key players know where he’s been. BUT he knows he’s obvious, he stands out, he’s being watched. Going for a walk helps him see who’s watching him…we know from the final scenes that Gravik was, at the very least, watching him that night - how else could he know what to do to draw Fury into the open? - and he admitted he WANTED Sonia’s people to bring him in. He expertly placed the camera (which you just know Sonia is aware of and is using to feed him info after openly dismissing working with him)…He’ll be back in full force before season’s end
What gives it away is that he says he’ll take the evidence to fury! Because what he’s actually saying is he’s gonna steal it to destroy it and yeah he does say it rather casually as well which is super sus
You got a bit of sunburn paul? Doing your manscape vid looked like you had sunglasses on anyway fast breakdown as ever thank you so much for your content as ever x

@heavyspoilers 29:16 Talos didn't "wanna be the man" to win the fight. Talos doesn't want to kill any Skrulls (his own people), that's why he wanted to subdue him.
I love the fact that the Skrulls in the base camp had to learn DOS to operate those ancient desktop computers that looks like they came out of the assembly line in the late 80s. The Skrulls already have their own alien tech. but won't even bother to bring in a few notebook computers. 🤨
This whole show is going to be a lot of "FURY TIME, FURY TIME a whole lot of nick FURY TIME, how did we get so luck to have Paul breakdown FURY TIME" haha
i was thinking that if there is any connection between this and agents of sheild that something like what happened to agent coulson when loki killed him might happen to hill but not as a kree but as a scroll. This would only work if there is a connection to agents of sheild and looking at how much disney ignore it it is not likely. 😢
Great video Paul. Will want to know who were the Skrulls that impersonated Nick Fury & Maria Hill in Spider-Man: Far From Home. It may be possible that the real Maria Hill is not dead and this is her doppelgänger. There's still so much to unfold though in the coming weeks, so let's see how it goes.
I like the Maria Hill being a hybrid theory. Combined that with Fury knowing an attractive Skrull and your comment about Fury’s wife and maybe Maria was Fury’s half-Skrull daughter.

Was shocked at the ending!!! And idk the hate for the intro, i kinda liked it!
yeah intro is great, makes sense to use deception for this show too
Agree! The AI intro is in keeping with the show’s premise really. Liked the show as a whole too, but Maria oh Maria
What up fellow member!
That was fast! Will be watching this video after I’ve seen the episode later today…
Thank you Paul.
I just finished the episode. Thank you for your video exact to the end (I am always waiting for them). Now I was simply shocked by Maria’s shooting and now I cannot wait for the next episode.
Been waiting ya chump! You never let us down. Thanks for all you do brother!
Much love
My theory fresh from watching the episode is that agent hill was a scroll that entire episode and that she had been one of the 100 or so field agents with hidden identities and that the actuall agent hill is in one of those stasis pods. A big part of this is how fury left almost immediately after she died and the episode also cut off very shortly after and its been shown that skrulls dont transform back immediately after death.
He's actually pulled away from the Hill's body by Talos
Samuel's Back son, of all the puns I give this an A+
About Gi'ah, I believe she lied to Talos about the handoff to keep them busy.
Marial Hill was one of the big three of SHIELD since the beginning. Coulson, Hill, and Fury.
Can't believe she's gone too.
And both times these motivated Fury to get serious
Paul that’s why I respect you so much. You always call out other TH-camrs. You give awesome breakdowns and I love theory time.
I love that we're back with another marvel breakdown! And I love that you shot it out comics explained!
I just finished the episode and walla there's a breakdown already, you never disappoint us chump💥
the owl is symbolic of hidden knowledge and is big in black magic symbolism.
The opening scene immediately made me think one of our original heroes will be reviled as a Skrull.
i agree with your reading of Ross's reaction. He's an agent and not a spy. From what we've seen in the past he does panic when something big gets revealed, so his demeanor in that particular scene is the tell the agent needed .
Kudos for mentioning the other great channels. You all do a great job
Ooh nice catch! I also suspected she was a skrull.
Finally something good from Disney it was serious and the character's weren't all silly and goofy and telling joke's every 20 seconds..
You do realize this is a different tone of a show
Like, GOTG and Shang chi doesn't exist
@@magnabeast88 exactly 💯
@@izhaluck8907 I didn't say it didn't I just didn't care for it to much.. but what do I know I'm just some guy
Feels like marvel’s answer to lucasfilm’s andor
What I like about this show is how Gravik is in complete control. He's watching every move Fury makes and waits carefully like a hunter stalking its prey. Fury is impotent in the face of such a force
The bombs successfully going off and Maria getting murdered(?) were absolutely unexpected! So far, so good... hopefully the show keeps the intrigue intense, but not over done. It can go either way with this specific type of plot point, where any character can be any character. It can easily be used as a cop-out for any reason to move the story forward without putting a lot of thought into the writing.
This was a seriously good episode that ending was insane
Loved the darker tone
And the spy tech thriller
I can’t wait till next episode
TRULY I DID NOT EXPECT Maria Hill to get killed off that soon
But damn what a way to kick off a show like this
If they can continue the tone with this , oh man this might be one of Marvel shows greats , that was a great first episode
Great first episode and what an ending telling us that the stakes are higher. Im hooked. Cant wait for next week.
So it is a mix of sword and shield? Enough firepower to strike with enough power to protect itself
29:19 dont you think he did not want the other Skrull to be killed?
great episode
already loving the tone of the show with high stacks
RIP Maria Hill
This show is really going for it and I appreciate that. I mean, if they're willing to kill off Maria Hill in episode 1 you know that things are going to get real. I can't wait to see what happens, and how it all resolves!
@VIDEOHOMESYSTEMbruh
she'll be back
I had the deep impression that the Skrull leader Gravik will have an interesting back story. I think he can be the first human-skrull hybrid ... The back story about what happened to his father and mother would propel him to take arms against the earth status quo. Just and idea...
Love your vids!! Much love from Germany Brudda❤
Thank you
What a way to start a series!
Was pretty cool seeing places I know and my home town on screen. Doesn't happen often, not for such a large production anyway.
I think the reason whyTalos was upset at Furry for killing that Skrull warrior was because he didn't want anymore skrull to die.
He expressed earlier his dislike to kill people.
And he didn't shoot or attempt to kill ross once, but try to stop him
Marvel needed one of the dark serious shows
So I think there will be a massive twist near the end where we find out fury isn’t actually fury.
My theory is he was a skrull from birth. He would have lost all his memories but still had his mission to climb the ranks
Ok you and Ryan didn't mention the 'Tony Technique' when Nick placed the bug.
Them sunglasses have done you dirty!I 😂 great video though mate!👍
I think that probably was Maria…the end credit as a guest star suggests she’s not going to be in many future episodes (same with Ross)
That said, I cant believe she wouldn’t have some sort of bullet-proof vest on at a time like this, so they may have suspected this might happen, hence Gravik aiming for a head shot before stopping we he sees Fury and meaning he doesn’t get to shoot her where she isn’t wearing protection
Edit: Oh and Fury being “off his game”…I really think that the limp, the appearing rusty, etc is all a play to throw people off.
Life model decoy, just like the comics.
Damn I like both theories.
Theory time theory time....😅
Spies with no disguises, no tech and bulletproof vest, low-quality script 😂
Capt America, Jason Bourne, Winter Soldier. All were secret super soldiers...
What gives it away is that he says he’ll take the evidence to fury! Because what he’s actually saying is he’s gonna steal it to destroy it and yeah he does say it rather casually as well which is super sus
Just finished watching now. You guys are too fast with this breakdowns 😭
Well done
Emergency awesome and yourself are the best channels!!!
You got a bit of sunburn paul? Doing your manscape vid looked like you had sunglasses on anyway fast breakdown as ever thank you so much for your content as ever x
My dudes Paul and Ryan Arey! Always thee first ones to post the videos on these shows. Not just first but the damn best. Cheers to Paul with the twins and still working hard. I get it bud, I have 2 young ones myself.
The GOATS!
@heavyspoilers 29:16 Talos didn't "wanna be the man" to win the fight. Talos doesn't want to kill any Skrulls (his own people), that's why he wanted to subdue him.
I have a feeling Maria Hill had a life-model decoy.
yeah probably
Dougs a Skrull Hahahahaha. Crushed it.
I love the fact that the Skrulls in the base camp had to learn DOS to operate those ancient desktop computers that looks like they came out of the assembly line in the late 80s. The Skrulls already have their own alien tech. but won't even bother to bring in a few notebook computers. 🤨
That was a "Skrull-tastic" review, glad that we are finally going back to that winter soldier vibe. 👽👍
The lense also covers one eye making it look like an eye patch on the owl, representing Fury himself
This whole show is going to be a lot of "FURY TIME, FURY TIME a whole lot of nick FURY TIME, how did we get so luck to have Paul breakdown FURY TIME" haha
“Samuel L. Is back-son.” GOLD
i was thinking that if there is any connection between this and agents of sheild that something like what happened to agent coulson when loki killed him might happen to hill but not as a kree but as a scroll. This would only work if there is a connection to agents of sheild and looking at how much disney ignore it it is not likely. 😢
Great first episode. Tone is exactly what I was hoping for.
This show is so good so far! And your video is the place I went after I finished the episode!
This feels like the most classically mcu thing in a long time
Paul’s sunburn during the manscape commercial looks a super hero costume or maybe Rocket Raccoon 😅 or maybe …._-Mephisto !!!
Can't believe this thing has a 73% critic score don't know what kinda mad thing they were on it was freaking fantastic
Agree
Exactly what I thought! Can’t please people these days. I loved the first episode
It was predictable and nothing special?
@@JackHGUKTrue. 😆
I loved it! It was very suspenseful, and I love that anybody can be a skrull
As my favorite TH-camr, I would love if u could do Reviews of the TV show FROM..its really good, mysterious and interesting.
I was confused on why Cobie Smulders' name wasn't in the opening credits, now I know why.
Gonna need the Manscaped Aloe with that rowdy sunburn mate!
I'm so pissed that they killed Maria. During the episode i was super excited to see more of her and especially her short fighting scene was nice
The blood coming out of Hill’s mouth looked so uncanny in the end
Can’t believe Maria Hill is gone…
This ep was a great way 2 kick the series off..
That saber sabre joke is one of your best 👏👏👏
I like the Maria Hill being a hybrid theory. Combined that with Fury knowing an attractive Skrull and your comment about Fury’s wife and maybe Maria was Fury’s half-Skrull daughter.
Badass premier !! Can’t wait for the next episode
