Lovely Ep and area and fish, I love fishing to, I am 60 and a retired small crop farmer and Pro line fisherman I did both off and on for nearly 35 years, ,I also skippered charter boats off and on for many years and my last job was a school cleaner. Theses days as a Rec fisho my passion is packing up our 4wd and 5m tinny and going North in winter up around Weipa or the Gulf or the NT nd or the Kimberley. Camping and fishing and hunting or crabbing and relaxing. and at home at Cooroy I crab the Noosa river system.
Hi Martin I really enjoyed your videos since finding your show,, I have a question and hopefully you might be able to share some light on this subject,, it’s regarding the new rules about wearing life vest on boats, there’s so many life vest on the market it gets so confusing which one is more suitable, I hope you can do a segment on this subject in the near future. Thank you for your videos, Kind regards Peter,
thanks for watching, I've been trying to fathom all the exact rule myself, but as soon as I get the exact ruling, I will share it with you all and what I wear , because as you get older you come to the realization that should an un for seen accident happen it would be a struggle to get back in the boat, cheers
Hi mate Love ya vids very well presented mate Ok this is just me and why u find with the whiting. The whiting like the full moon and new moon as this has more run in the water. This is just my know and been fishing with my uncal for many years for them Another thing too we find the fish shut down when the jelly fish about Gone from hot bite only to loose the fish and multiple spots And like you I am old school only fish with alvey reels and wippy rods have land based rods 12 foot for wading And boat rods 9to 10 foot All on 6 inch reels Keep ya vids coming mate And ya probably know my Famly name Very well and famous fishing Famly Tripcony Ty Mike
Used to fish Tripconys for years before they made it a green zone, agree with you about no run no fun, thanks for sharing the kind comments and watching
Martin.I have always been a light gear fisherman using Alvey like yourself.. regarding the moon whiting tend to be more active around the new moon simply because the6 are a prey fish for flathead and such and like the less light from a new moon.
Thanks for the comment and sharing mate , I've found at the start of the breading season especially in the Caboolture river a couple of days prior to the full moon they seem to be most active and later in the season they swing back to the new moon , and you get the better quality fish on the new moon, what area do you fish ?Thanks for watching cheers Martin
@ not so much anymore but between Hervey Bay and baffle creek were my region. Most within an hour of Bundaberg. Keep going brother. I agree about yabbies being the best bait for table fish. Bruce
Taking onboard all your information. I just purchased a tinnie after many years in a kayak. Do you use your depth sounder or just your knowledge of the river. Always waiting for the next video cheers Michelle i use to fish with my Dad he called himself the grunter hunter many thanks
Mate I don't use the sounder much in the river after fishing it for 58 years pretty familiar with it mainly just use the gps to get through the one shallow spot to get up to the flats on low tide but that even changes all the time with the big tides, You cant beat those memories, hope your tinnie serves you well , thanks for watching cheers Martin
Hi Martin, you made the comment you like to try different cooking methods so cut the ray up into pieces and coat with 11 secret herbs and spices and deep fry. I think you'll really like it, and it tastes like that three-letter fast food from the US of A. You live in a great part of the world, and I hope the whiting come on soon.
Thanks mate will defiantly give it a go like that , always looking for different ways to cook different fish, the whiting will be back its just we have had a bit of a funny spring weather wise, thanks for watching
Hi Martin, where do you pump your yabbies from, and is there any areas at beachmere to pump them without a boat, I have noticed the yabbies up here in bundy were soft and I thought it could of been from the coral spawn,at this time of the year, but you maybe right with the moon having something to do with it, I also know if I don’t get to go fishing occasionally, I get angry and depressed very quickly, good for the soul mate, fishing estuary up here is pretty average at the moment with changing weather.
I dig them at white patch on Bribie Island which is just up the road from where I live there is one spot down Beachmere but their hard work, pretty average seems to be the general report at the moment, the changeover period i reckon another couple of weeks they will be firing if we don't get any flash flooding from these storms
@ Thanks mate , I lived on Bribie for a few years but never really went to that area, might go for a look there when I am down next, I have always liked Bribie, probably should have stayed there, Bundy was excellent fishing when I moved here in 1987 but now the netters have destroyed the rivers around here. I very much enjoy your fishing mate and thank you for your knowledge. Cheers
picked up a second hand alvey out of inspiration, all i need to do is pick up a rod to go with it. Have you tried full circle hooks that are a smaller size? is there a reason why you prefer the smaller size wide gape hooks?
No I haven't tried circle hooks, mainly because of the way you fish with them, I like to set the hook especially when the whiting get real finicky, I started using the no 4 wide gaps years ago and found they catch almost any of your table fish regardless of size, even use them in fresh water catching big bass and yellows and never had one let me down Thanks for watching
@@Ab0minati0n yeah their a good rod I used to use the 4 wrap Brembo all the time land based before I got the ones i use now which I use land based and in the boat, cheers mate thanks for watching
I've had hundreds of sunspots burnt off my face in the past mate but never any off my arms or legs and I've been in the sun all my life, to answer the question just trying to avoid having to get any more taken off, but at this stage its probably to late the damage is already done, thanks for watching mate
