    Very "Out of Africa"...Excellent point about the zebra and how it changes your prospective of the tree when removed...These are the nuggets of wisdom that seem to be so obvious to you and I don't even think about...Great improvements to the plant room...Really looks great as do the trees...Thanks for sharing...

    Hi Nigel, our temperatures seem to follow yours but with less snow and about 10 degrees warmer. I think you're on the right track with a flatter top and separate pads, looking forward to see the progression.

    Thank you Nigel, watching your progress is really informing and enjoyable to watch. What made you start your adventure in the Bonsai / TH-cam?

      +Patti K Hi Patti, I wanted to start a channel that shows the progression of trees and the work that goes into them. I also want to include the beginnings of trees and species not commonly used for bonsai. Most bonsai videos just show the final refinement of really old collected trees. Trees that are really expensive and most are unobtainable. I want to show the growing of trees that everyone can get at nurseries or from seeds. For me bonsai is not about the final look of the tree, but the journey that goes into making your trees slowly look better and better!

      +mikbonsai Hi Iqbal, yes I have two cats. They were scratching at the door to get into the plant room while I was filming. They know they aren't allowed in, but they keep trying!

      I know the feeling I have three cats and one of them is always hanging around with me when I am working on the trees and often is in my videos.

    the pot syncs well with the tree can you please share the dimension of the pot please thanks

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pot is a 12 X 9 inch oval. It is 1 inch deep unglazed. It does have a very small chip near the back, that's how I ended up getting it!

    Hi Nigel, Enjoying the development of Your Serissa. Was just wondering what kind of fertiliser you use for your trees. I use a liquid fertiliser called Seasol here in Australia and use it at full strength every other week to feed all my container plants. I know you can use a solid fertiliser like Biogold that Ryan Neil recommends for his Bonsai. Would appreciate your opinion. :)

      Here is my video on watering and fertilizing, I hope it answer your questions.

  • @edge540ep

    Hey Nigel, was wandering why did you decide to use a Serissa for this project and not one of the acacia species?

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nico Venter I can't find an Acacia tree in this area. I also may not be able to grow the tree well in this climate. If I ever find an Acacia tree I'll give them a try!

    • @edge540ep
      @edge540ep 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nigel Saunders I live in the Western Cape of South Africa and the Acacia trees grow like dirt in this area, I have access to unlimited Acacia seeds, if you are interested? I have a few Acacia Bonsai tree really nice tree to have, only a bugger to wire with all there thorns. I think they will do go in you area but you will probably have to put them in your green house for winter. In South Africa the hottest weather is 35c to 40c in summer and coldest about -2c in the winter in my area.
