That Warrington bus brings back some memories. I can just about remember when these were still used as the Westy bus every day in the mid-70s when they were on their last legs as daily buses, and I went to Our Lady's school in Latchford and every Thursday morning we would get one of them to the old swimming baths on Legh St for swimming lessons.

I really enjoyed the remix of your music. I often sing it in my head when I cycle on the canal towpath. I live in Wigan so I cycle on the towpath often.

I sometimes cycle through Golbourne, Lowton then onto the the Sankey canal to the railway viaduct. Then back home through Culcheth, Leigh Platt Bridge.

was on that very same route from Newton to Parr to visit relatives on Hargreaves St in 2015. Never heard it called Parrcelona tho fitting in some ways and then not. The Green belt at around 3:56 used to be a railway cutting we used to play in as kids. A considerable number of my relatives were christened, married and buried in St Peters in Parr. The green belt at 6:28 used to be the St Helens to Lowton Cheshire Lines passing through Ashton and Haydock. Thanks for the info on the Gerrards of Ashton, they somehow balanced being in favour and being Catholic. Except for the Gerrard involved in the Gunpowder Plot who legged it to Rome and wrote an excellent book about his escape from the Tower of London.

so the first part of the video, between the 9 arches and the first double locks, all that are was and still is my stomping ground, in more recent years i've researched what used to be along that section of canal and in the space of less than 80 years give or take there's been so many buildings and industry demolished and been given back to nature,
so i'll put this little list together for you kieren if its any interest, we've got Southport-old whint (1) and (2) Havana collieries which you can still see features of today, from my knowledge atleast 4 swing bridges, at wagon lane locks you would of had a gravity assisted railway terminating its journey there with lines running all over haydock, there's a book i recommend the hedges of oak little stories and facts from haydock, with mentions to a roman road at the top end of haydock, and charcters that once lived locally such as billy the wood its definatley a book up your alley :)
but back to the list, if you use the old tow path from the double locks down to old whint road there's a bridge which gets you back on the path you would usually use you can see red gate quay all dried up but all the features are there fantastic space left untouched :)
you may of had i think frog hall at the bottom of old whint road and isolation hospital, and the owlets nest inn a very old pub-maybe even coaching house that sat along the sankey canal
i hope some of the information comes in used :) or even delves you into a rabbit hole, but definatley look into the boook headges of oak :)
    another fantastic video :)

Lovely bimble. St Peter's is one of a few churches that make use of copper slag as a building material (the black stuff), something pretty much unique to St Helens. Copper was used to give glassware a green tinge.

..The Warrington bus yu rode on was one of the narrow style. They were narrower than standard for that time design so that they could fit two abreast in the narrow bit of Sankey Street. (by Holy Trinity Church).

Lots of people buried in the grounds, some of interest in the industrial growth of St Helens, such as the likes of Jean-Baptiste Francois Graux, and others of interest in a social history context, such as John ‘Johnny Welly’ Smith. Both worth a search.
