  • All I've Ever Known is nuts and does a fantastic job of foreshadowing the rest of the musical.

for an interval called the "devil's interval", the tri-tone doesn't show up that much in hadestown lmao

Not trying to be argumentative here, I’m legit a music theory novice but excited to learn… you point out the shift to the Tritone at the violin section as ominous foreshadowing, but to me it feels natural and in line with much of the rest of the score. HadesTown was heavily influenced by jazz and American gold music, are these musical motifs common to American Folk?

im not entierly sure what your trying to ask, so if I'm not answering your question please let me know
SO yes absolutely, its super natural and in context with the rest of the score of hadestown and the style of composition throughout the entire musical. im more pointing out how much the tritone stands out within the context of this one song,,, i am in no way an expert on the specific stylizing of hadestown, but the intention of the tritone in the melody and how much it stands out (to my ears) seems very intentional and a way of musical foreshadowing
i really hope that answered what you were asking 😅 thank you for the comment!
