Super cool. Old Studebaker family here..
One dear bud in our club bought one before he got drafted for Nam. He got back and babied it for years. On the way home from a club meeting, he was hit and the car was in bad shape. It may still be in his barn covered up. That was its condition last I saw it.
Enjoy yourself. Very lucky to drive that !

I’ve always wanted a supercharged 4sp one. Growing up they were always beautiful ! What a wonderful sport car !

Nice 1963 R2 with a 4 speed. Overall looks good, but the replacement carpet should be a SALT and PEPPER black with elk mixed. Correct carpet is available as I recently replaced some new with the correct SALT and PEPPER pattern. small issue but really brings the colors together. The original and the correct replacement carpet consist of 23 individual pieces and well worth the effort to do it right. Also a very early R2 as it still as the 140 MPH Speedometer which was quickly changed to the 160 MPH version. Nice car overall and the best color.

Yeah, the owner wants to repaint the car and fix the interior. The car sat for a long time and the interior presents well but has some cracking issues and the carpet is wrong. The trunk is the worst piece as water got in there. He's overall very happy with the car as it's a blast to drive.

@@justinacole44 I am just finishing up the restoration of an Avanti that was this same color, and had the same fawn/elk interior, only mine was in a _lot_ worse shape. The paint was peeling in spots, the interior was old and dingy and too deteriorated to preserve, especially the dash, which was quite literally the most heavily sun-damaged dashboard I have _ever_ seen -- probably because the car spent decades in California. The dry, hot climate kept the frame and hog troughs nice and rust free, but it was _hard_ on the interior.
I bought a fawn/elk interior kit from Southeast Studebaker, in Knoxville, TN (I am not sure they are still in business, as they had trouble during the pandemic, like a lot of business, and the owner is getting on in years; I've heard some customers have had long delays getting things from them now). The car looks fantastic now.
I wouldn't know who to suggest with Southeast Studebaker possibly down for the count, but if the dash wants replacing, Dan Booth, of Nostalgic Motor Cars, in Wixom, MI, is reproducing dash pads from the original factory molds made by Studebaker. I got one from him, and installed it myself (it's easy if you follow his directions), and it not only looks terrific, my car now has a brand new dash pad, with springy, pliable foam underneath the vinyl surface, and no accumulation of years of damage from UV exposure.
