- The SPz 12-3 LGS in War Thunder is the top tier reward for this Seasons Battle Pass. It's a tiny little German Tank Destroyer with a 20mm autocannon and a 106mm recoiless rifle.
This Seasons Battle Pass is a little disappointing this time around. I thought the SPz 12-3 LGS would at least be fun to play but because of the slow turret traverse and the vehicles awful mobility, it feels a bit lackluster.
It takes a good bit of skill to pull this thing off and I just can't do it! :)

Not quite right. SPz stands for Schützenpanzer [literally: Infantry-Tank] and is used to designate an IFV, not a reconnaissance vehicle.

Btw, the MG is a ranging gun, it has the same ballistics as the main gun, which could have been useful for some longer range shots.
Enemy can see the tracer really easy and I don't want that.
It is tracer, that's the point of the spotting gun.

Haven't played in a little while, but in my experience those ranging guns on the 106 recoiless rifles don't work very well, at least not in game, past a few hundred meters the mg bullets fall faster than the shells, and for anything closer than that distance you can much more effectively just direct fire
@@lithobreak3812The Tank Museum mentioned in one of their Anti-Tank chats that the Ranging machine gun would match the drop out to about 500m, so this is pretty accurate.
I knew that targeting speed would be horrible in real matches
The high crew level gives it a horizontal speed of 9 degrees, which is pretty bad on its own. Imagine having a brand new crew with that thing, you’d have a horizontal speed of 5 degrees per second lol.

@@Tylran Italy has the best platforms for that grenade launcher. You're an invincible menace if you peak behind any tiny bump with the FIAT since you don't have an extra cupola to hide and a depression of -10.
Also a little advice in case OddBawZ didn't mention it in his video. The tiny MG on the cannon isn't for damaging things. It has roughly the same velocity as the main cannon, and was meant as a crappy rangefinder alternative.
It should have been a tech tree vehicle as their first recoiless tank. .
And the raketenautomat should have been the bp vehicle

It has a trick not many people know about. If you go to ground settings, you can activate "camera from tank gunner sight" and since the big cannon and sight sits together quiet high, you can shot in a hull down position very easy. It is a low tier stryker. :D
Seems like this gun should be crew served, was it able to be aimed and fired from inside the crew compartment?

That's incredible. I just tested it. I had no idea. I love the shutzenpanzer already but this makes me want to take it out more now!
So basically if you get a tank that's only really good at holding a static defensive position you get a bunch of kills and still lose.
I think it's a very good tactic, every time my team holds and waits for the enemy to come for us, we win, some people do some flanking and stuff but we mostly hold and win
No tank is good in isolation. Odd's playstyle doesn't mesh well with the shutzenpanzer, and it is actually a great little fighting vehicle when used in its intended role; hiding behind things and lobbing RPGs. It's my favorite German ground vehicle at that BR, and there are a few maps where this thing absolutely rocks.
If Odd says a tank is bad and also doesnt get a nuke in it you know its REALLY Bad

There is also a base version with just the 20mm turret. The early Marder 1 prototypes Ru 111 / 112 and 122 also just had a 20mm on a somewhat marderish looking chassis.
In my experience, this vehicle really is not that bad, you’re pretty much invincible when hull down and the 20mm can easily kill bulldogs, fiats, aubls, and can even take out cannon barrels. I think it’s a pretty good vehicle to fill the gap between the jagdpanzer 4-5 and the ru 251

its obnoxious cancer thats useless for helping your team or playing the objective, but is basically invulnerable when spawn sniping... yay fun
Given how hard the nuke is to get AND how it was supposed to be used IRL, I think deployment should postpone winning conditions for a set of time (Roughtly the time it takes the slowest nuke carrier to fly through the tank part of the map) and deny enemy a win if it's dropped.
I believe this is actually a thing but only in arcade mode

You could also have binded a key to only control machine guns in turrets/on the roof, would allow you to aim much more precisely with the 20mm

SPz is short for "Schützenpanzer", which is the german word for Infantry Fighting Vehicle. It looks like the chassis is the SPz-12 or something, the first IFV ever (technically), though it was a complete disaster, and was phased out of service fairly quickly, with other vehicles taking it's place; the only reason it ever entered service was corruption, with it being such a pain in the behind to keep running that we just couldn't do it.
It's unique and that alone makes it worth it. After about, what? - 4-5 copy paste battle pass rewards? - this thing is definitely cool.
And yet people only want OP vehicles, average delusional war thunder player

the 106 recoilless gun has a machine gun strapped to the top for range finding and it's pretty accurate
Day 4: Play with good ol’ Germany Me 410 A-1/U4 it’s the Grandpa of the Me 262 A-1/U4 and it’s a 3.0/3.3 aircraft with 50mm barrel on it with 12.7mm it’s a very good vehicle to play on and dominate the tanks you can play it on 5.7 but whatever you like and I wish to see you play it ❤

I personally think that HEAT is great at that BR. Since WW2 ammo can be so trolly, I prefer the reliability that comes with HEAT.
Bawz I don’t know what you’re talking about I got 3 nukes in this thing, sure I got shot down in one, didn’t have time for another and crashed in the third but it’s very good imo

I've been playing a bit of war thunder mobile, 2 things I wish they brought over is being able to choose your aircraft and allowing you to spawn aircraft after you die. As it is right now, you have to hide your tank, spawn in a bomber or fighter and then you only get 30 seconds in the air before you switch back to your tank. That's if someone hasn't pushed your spawn and killed your tank while you were in a plane.

Maybe the timer stops as well as ticket bleeding, hell, the caps get reset and set to neutral. The caps aren’t capturable until the bomber has been intercepted.
Give the bomber multiple spawn selections so players actually have to look where the bomber is coming in from, cause it’s easy to tell where the planes are coming in from

It's the name of a tank used in a war Germany Initiated in its darkest times. There are millions of animals out there but they still chose this name. I'm not upset. But I understand that some people might be and that's okay. It's totally reasonable. Imagine not understanding this simple empathic principle.

Personally I think this is agreat BP vehicle. Not as in it's a great vehicle, but as in it's unique enough to be interesting, but also not a must have that you don't want to miss (like the PT-76-57).
And if it's bad it might just go down in BR. 6.0 or something.
Fun fact the 106mm isnt actually a 106mm round, its actually a 105mm labelled as 106mm so there werent any mix ups with standard rounds.

I would honestly enjoy this thing but only with the 20mm for full on reconnaissance vehicle to help the team with repairs and just go around and shoot barrels and tracks

The first West German made Schützenpanzer ( long and short Versions) had been of Low quality. There had been former wwll german soldiers critisiced the Design of new Tank, so corruption could be a reason for introducion of this Tank.
Yeah, it's the HS.30 so BawZ is more correct than he realizes.
The thing that is holding this vehicle back the most is that it is German so you have to play with German teammates.

It's not horrible. It is just really specialized for terrain with cover. City maps aren't going to work well for it.

Oddbawz is entitled to his preferences and opinions, but re: first match a) he got 7 kills for one death and almost got a nuke b) he was in an uptier playing with German team c) he stayed in the same spot the entire first round of match. When a content creator says something sucks take it with a grain of salt. DEFYN says the jet with the MOST POWERFUL MISSILE IN THE GAME is rubbish. They just are more picky and play at a higher standard I guess.
I can't play aggressive and carry in it because turret traverse so it's no good to me. Both matches we lost because I couldn't move.

@@OddBawZ that's just it, not every vehicle has to "carry the team and get a nuke" in one run. A vehicle like this can be brought out in defensive situations, or fill a role while playing in a squad. Teamplay, lineups etc.. but then again, its Germany

Could you do a video with the type 60 TD that has two recoilles rifles? I noticed barely anyone has done a (recent) video with that thing. I guess for a good reason xD but would still be neat to have a vid of it.

it suck being a freeplayer... I mean at this point Im just getting fulluptiered constantly so I bring out one tank, one plane, play half an hour, then just altf4 fuggout... I gave up on the grind a long time ago

It's actually worse for console players due to the overlap in controls. Both are considered main guns so... Unless you have weapon selection mapped it's impossible to shoot the guns individually. As well as other just universal disadvantages like bushes and graphics. It can be a nightmare having to re-map everything just for one tank
the creators put ammo in place of armor. its a driving bomb.
Hey odd, when you posted this video I was at a vintage race car museum with cars from 1905 to 1970, and It was a demo day so they drive 4 cars around, God it was amazing

Odd u need to key bind select primary select secondary and select machine guns so whatever weapon is selected your sniper scope and crosshair is ranged for that weapon I generally only use it for shooting at planes or tanks with 2 cannons to be precise with the difference in velocities
i mean i got and used it. works very good got 11 kills my first game i would say it just depends on play style
