Thanks for posting. My father worked in the construction of Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in the early 1940's. I served in the Army in Korea, but I live near by in Humacao Puerto Rico. Still remember taking my son to see F-14's Tom cats taking off around 1998.

Loved the video. I was there with VC-8 in 85-86. Came in as an undesignated Plane Captain. Launched and recovered the A-4 and greased the rotors on the SH3 Gulf lolol hated the damn wash rack! Good memories!

We were stationed there from 68-71, boys went to Roosy Rds. H.S. but graduated stateside. I'm in the process now of locating some of the people I, the wife, worked with at AFWR. There are many fond memories and our boys loved skin diving with their dad. It's hard to believe the base it not active. What happened to the nice commissary and exchange?

Was there ‘68 -‘70. AE2. (Flew Air Crew on2s. We had (6) P2s, (3)A4s, (5)F8s, (3) S2s (3) T28s, (2) H34s, (4 or5) F9 drones. Started in the old hangar then moved across the runway to the new hangar. Lived in the Bundy barracks.

George Picha...Hello, Yea, this is 2 years later, but...I was AE3 in VAQ-33 from 71-75, based at N.A.S., Norfolk, Va. I went to RR about 5 times in the early 70's for exercises. We stayed in some barracks...two stories, maybe three..???. They were old maybe WWII era?... and they were close to the enlisted man's club. Could these be the Bundy barracks that you mentioned? One set of barracks was just for the Chiefs and was off limits to the rest of us enlisted. ( and boy, do I have a story about that..!! ) Does any of this sound familiar? The hangar that we operated out of was just a little ways from the tower; I used to go there to the little grill and eat from time to time. I was a Plane Captain for our ERA-3B Skywarrior planes. We were an ECM outfit...electronic counter measures.

How different was Roosvelt Roads back then to what it is now. It hurts to see its current state. Maybe it was better that the US Navy never left the premises.
