Ahhhh. The sound of a motorcycle starting another trip!
I just rode Cherohala Skyway for the first time a few days ago, and wow! I was impressed. Much like the blue ridge parkway, but feels a lot more remote, and that's a GOOD thing!
I do love that part of Tennessee
What a beautiful part of the country that is.
For sure!!
One of my favorite rides. Just before you get to Robbinsville turn off to the Joyce Kilmer national forrest. It will wind around back to US 129 just North of Robbinsville.
Thanks Joe I can't wait to ride that road ✌
Great place!! Thanks for the adventure!
Anytime!!
Joe the next time you pass thru my area will you let me tag along for a few days? That would be a memory of a life time in my eyes.
Jerry, your "tour guide" commentary in the prior video was great, by the way! I agree about riding with Joe.....his video make me want an adventure bike like crazy. I'm just a backwoods country boy myself and get the lifestyle he has.
@@greg4hand73 Thank you for the kind words. Joe does inspire people to be adventurious.
Of course man! Yes, he sure has a lot more great stories I hope will be told in the future.
I24 nashville to chattanooga and around chattanooga area, monteagle tennessee etc. When i ride back home to florida i plan a day to hit backroads in that area
Cherohala is probably my favorite ride there (so far). Also enjoyed Moonshiners, over near Fontana Dam. Beautiful riding and scenery in the area, overall. Thanks for bringing us along!
Anytime!! Thank y'all for watching. It is a great ride
Beautiful! BTW, I can`t go slowly into cold water; I`ve always had to jump right in ;- )
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s Joe
Anytime bro!
Love that ride in planning one soon for my son and me on matching Honda Pacific Coasts gonna ride and camp out
Have fun!
Cool road, interesting journey
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool. 👍🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
If your plans allow it, try to make it to Lake Lure, there is some awesom riding there also. The hotel from Dirty Dancing is there.
Ha, I been up there. Not far from home actually
Joe ! Keepem coming. ❤
Will do 👍
Biggest problem with an Africa twin is you need a step ladder to get on the thing...😀 This road seems much better than the dragon, I'm not a fan of touristy places. As you said the locals know where best to ride. Another good one Joe!
Thank you!! Exactly 💯
Hey man you and Scotty are my favorite free birds thanks for sharing your adventures I'm stuck like chuck here in Wesr Virginia
Thank you sir ✌🏻
Been out that way 3 times in 4 weeks lol.! I'm just to the east of Asheville.
I broke down once.
Got rained out one.
And last time. A friend's stator left us stranded in Cherokee..
- NOT off to a good start of riding season 😕
Zippo wil referb that lighter pretty cheaply. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Cool 😎 Anytime!!
You lucky dog..probably won't be doing that on new ride..thank you for your videos..
You bet
So much good riding out here. Myself and a couple friends are heading up first full week of May this year, we've got a bit of a yearly tradition going on.
The Dragon is of course a must ride but gotta have your guard up big time and if you happen to just need to pass through during busy time it's really best to just take it easy. Preferably hang out behind a truck or something so if a wacko isn't in their lane they can take the hit instead of you...
I also really like Rt28 around Fontana Dam. Rt28 all the way down to Highlands has some good spots.
Another Dragon like road very near the actual Dragon is Rhymer's Ferry. Extremely twisty but not quite as long as the Dragon.
Some sections of the foothills parkway are epic and similar to the Cherahola, built like a motoGP track, so epic.
Wayah road is nice and very scenic. Also some good corners.
And of course Joyce Kilmer is another must ride. Connects the Cherahola and Dragon nicely.
Nice shoutout on the Cherahola being cold. It really always is, I definitely recommend bundling up right before the climb, but no earlier. Nothing worse than getting sweaty right before a temperature drop.
Cool you start out on the river road to Bald River falls, I ride and stay in Tellico every year, great video. The guy that went off the side was just going too fast, folks don't realize the mountains don't play, it can get away from you in a hurry, glad he wasn't hurt.
👍
Cherohala is a great route! So much better than the Dragon and it’s crowds.
yeah sure l00kd likit t0 me!
✌
Definitely 💯
Beautiful countryside
My friends and me ride the Skyway many times in the summer. Beautiful riding
Very cool!
Love this road
Great riding in that part of the country, nice campsite also, might of stayed a few more nights
Thanks enjoying your videos
Thank you!!
Such an awesome video I’m so glad I found this channel looking forward to your next video man!!!
Anytime guys ✌️
Man that's one beautiful ride. Gonna have to try it sometime. Thanks for the journey. Them Honda's just keep a runnin'. I use to ride a Harley Fatboy that I loved but was always having to work on it. I switched to metrics years ago and have never looked back. Rode a Honda VTX 1800 bagger for years and put some real miles on it. Never had a roadside breakdown with the exception of a couple flat tires. Never any engine problems. Ride a Yamaha XVS 1300 Tourer bagger now. Absolutely love that bike. Been on several 1000+ mile trips without a hiccup. Keep on a keepin' on man, your videos are inspiring to an old fart like me.
Cool! Will do brother, thanks for watching
Thanks Joe enjoyed getting to see your journey.
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent ride
Yes it was!
BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY ROADS
Absolutely!
Good ride Joe. You had a nice weather day for it too. No fog or rain. A special day in those parts. Thanks for posting. Ride safe.
Thanks, will do!
Great video hombre! Rode the Cherohala Skyway back in the mid-90's on the way to Ashville for the Honda Hoot. What a trip that was from Texas. Que le vaya bien amigo!
Cool!
Great video Joe thanks for taking me along. Much love and respect stay safe brother!
Cheers bro! Anytime!!
Safe travels 👍
Thank you 👍
That dive He describes under deceleration is a smog thing, Moore Mafia channel tells you how to fix that and generally make it all better by flashing the ECU.
Yep, the Skyway is my favorite that's east of the Mississippi. That lake looked awesome. I might have had to throw a line in.
I need to get some tackle, man. Just got too much $hit lol
Hello! Thanks for the video! Sorry, i am just catching up with 'em. Will try to watch the long one tomorrow. Anyway, what a nice campsite in NC with the lake! Also it is so refreshing to see random people meet and have a nice chat on the side of the road! We humans definitely need to talk to each other in person more these days. Like Scotty always says, it is good to talk to people.
On the side note: what a coincidence, i just came across some nice Ronnie Milsap songs on TH-cam the other week. I like "Smoky Mountain Rain" very much!
Take care Joe!
Absolutely! ✌️
So cool brother, Joe
Thanks bro
The way you say Appalachia😂
Beautiful ride. I delivered a new truck to the Asheville N.C. area last year and the drive in from the West was gorgeous, hope to go back and see the rest.
Absolutely!
Nice riding!
Thanks!
hell yea, my kinda road.
Hey man! Just discovered your channel because of Mexico. My buddy and I are riding down there this winter for a video and I’d love to bend your ear for some tips!
Sure man! If you want to send me a DM, head over to my IG page. @dirtymotorcyclevagabond thanks
Thanks Jo
Anytime!!
Hey Joe! You better not come through Asheville and not stop in and see me.
I wish I'd had time, man. Had to hurry home to see my family
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond Call me sometime. I don't have your number so this is the only way I have to communicate with you.
That looked like a beautiful ride and have actually never heard of it until you mentioned it the other day! I would agree that I would rather do the Cherohala Skyway over the Tail of the Dragon (a lot less touristy, less idiots on the road, and less commercialized ... lol) but I'll definitely have to try both of them (hopefully if I make it down for Forgotten Angles campout in the next year)! Another great video as always Joe and it was great meeting you - ride safe brother and I'm really hoping to get up to Laconia next week!
@fitzstermoto I sure hope you can make it to a forgotten angels camp out. The atmosphere at the camp out is truly amazing. I have been to 4 of them and hate to leave the property each time. The sence of love and community is overwhelming to one's emotions.
FA is a great time! I should still be here man, assuming I can find a decent spot to camp
Man i wanna see the top of that road on a clear day but you had the same type of weather I had when i rode it. I know you've travel so much more than me but for me and what i've done this is by far my best ride.
Been like that, or raining, everytime I've been on it....
Long Hungry Road on the other side of lake Santeelah is another good free spot
Thanks for the tip
all most the 1st view i will take the 2nd 🤣you going to Sturgis , its ben 15 years so im going this year
COol man, I'll be there 👍
Nice little lakeside camp. Have you ever considered carrying one of those collapsible fishing rods?
I have three of them I carry with me sometimes. I think the only thing for him would be having to buy a fishing license in different states which isnt too cheap anymore. Most offer one day non resident or you can risk it and do without it but if you got caught and got a ticket it would probably be a lot more than the license
Man, I have been meaning to get on that... Right now, too much stuff lol
Your one of the smartest, if not smartest guys living off their motorcycles doing TH-cam videos. What's your plans Joe? What are you thinking? Do a video on your future!!
Thanks so much!! I love that idea. And I still have a lot to learn yet...
good deal on the Cherohala Skyway, my preferred ride for sure...great video as usual. I wish i was there riding it with you.cheers...a bientot frerot
We had some great times out here when we first met up my brother. J'espere a bientot
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond september
You let off the throttle on a harley and it , thats because that Harley is 900+ pounds !!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Neat area
Absolutely
Keep the iron horse rolling!
Will do it 👍
I hope to make that ride on the skyway very soon. Send that zippo back in and they will replace it. Lifetime warrenty on them.
Hey we should go camping 🏕 some day maybe we could do some fishing 🎣
Absolutely!
How is the NC holding up. Any video plans about whats been working, what needs changing ir replacing now that it's been living outside in a working life versus a garage sheltered bike?
About 16k, running great. I've only adjusted the chain once lol. She's still pretty new
g0000d shit brrruthurrr!!!
🤘😎🤘
m0t0rcycle peeples r da BEST peeples, hand dwn!!
✌
You got that right!!
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond 🤙
Joe, you’re riding in my country now. I live in Cookeville and my Sunday afternoon rides are over to Tellico and over the Cherohala. I seldom do the Dragon due to all the idiots from all over the country trying their luck. Many different routes back home after crossing into Robinsville. Down to Murphy and back up 68 through the National Forest and back home. Give me a shout out if you are ever back in this area and I’ll take you on some interesting back roads in the area.
Will do 👍
I've been wanting to do the skyway......for some reason the dragon doesn't really appeal to me. I think bc it's so over hyped and busy. I'm not saying I won't every ride it, it's just not up there on my list.
Also, that zippy would be perfect for @parkerthecoyote , the howling wolf looks similar to her logo. Her and @whiskychaser are over in Nashville.
If I live my life and never ride the dragon again, I'll be content
Have you ridden the Beartooth Highway?... If not check it out!🍻👍
Yep. Made a video on it last summer
It is pretty awesome!!! Took my Ducati out there in 2007 😊😊😊😊😊
There's no place like Dixie!
💯
What’s your go to play list while riding?
Primus, Rage Against the Machine, Slayer, The Doors. Usually a podcast on Spotify
Is the tent camping free at Joyce Kilmer memorial forest? Where are you camped at?
Free. Lookup Santeelah Lake Trail, should take you to it
Told my wife to spread my ashes up there. I’ll probably end up in the back yard!
👍lol
Did i see you was going to be in laconia if so were could someone find you would love to meet you also think i heard you mention you was heading to Canada if so i live on the coast in maine if you was heading this way we live 45 min from bar harbor if you wanted a place to came we have a spot
Not sure if I'm headed that way yet, but if so would be great 👍 Can you send me a message thru instagram with your contact info? @dirtymotorcyclevagabond
How many miles u have on that bike now ?
Around 16k
What campground is that
I’ve forgotten. It’s around Robbinsville
Are you going to Mexico this year
Not sure yet man. Probably not this year
Vermont?
Now New Hampshire
Your not fat from my house
Joe, get a fuckin tent with a waterproof rainfly and give up that tarp labor!
Lmao 🤣 it's worth it sometimes
Joe please explain "The Project" that you refer to. What are we contributing to? Thanks Buddy!
Each video is a project. In a bigger sense I guess you could say the whole living on a motorcycle in the woods and documenting it is the greater project lol
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond not bad. I was wondering how long do you plan on living this way?
