    I have a 2009 Tahoe Hybrid also. Had this same problem, started off with jerking while accelerating then escalated to the same issue you have here. Diagnostic threw a code P0301 (Cylinder 1 misfire). I knew it would likely be the spark plug, ignition coil or spark plug wires. So I replaced the spark plug and that didn’t work then replaced the ignition coil! That fixed it. Cleared the codes out and haven’t had the issue since. There is video on my page how to replace the coil on the Hybrid.

    I just had the same problem. Same noise etc. almost immediately after passing 200,000 miles. I took mine to a Chevy Dealer they said the engine was shot, oil pump and catalytic converter blown. They quoted $10,000 for a new engine, or $1000 to buy the car.
    Have you diagnosed/solved the problem with yours?
    I have talked to a few mechanics about replacing the entire Hybrid drive train with a standard GM engine and transmission from a non-hybrid Tahoe. This is possible but a monumental task.
    Update: I read that you had spark plug problems. Mine must be more serious but sounded and behaved the exact same.

      Yea man this problem sucks because it can be numerous of things. I had someone say it could be the lifters which cost 3k to fix. I’m lucky to say it was just spark plugs, coils, and oil that I needed.

    Broken Lifter on the number one cylinder. I have dealt with this issue probably 15 plus times with Tahoe’s & Escalade’s in my fleet of private transportation SUV’s. I own a livery company in KC. Heads have to come off to fix the problem and if you continue to drive it at all in that condition you risk SEVERELY damaging the engine.

    Not sure if you guys figured out the problem yet, I have a 09 black hybrid mode 2 also and I dealt with that shaking for 2 years before we figured it out, there is this thing called the LOMA (lifter, oil, manifold,assembly ) plate in the cylinder head, it's some kind of electronic devices the helps feed oil to the lifters or something it's a 200-300 dollar part, the shop replaced it and it's stopped the shaking

  • @newwavesllc6800
    @newwavesllc6800 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You dont HAVE to remove the heads to fix this permanently....take off intake.take off flat pan underneath intake..take off valve cover on affected lifter..rocker will be loose...take off that rocker but leave in push rod...stick an old push rod in intake hole above affected lifter and tap with a mallet...the lifter will unstick and the valve cover pushrod will shoot out. Now need to reduce oil pressure so it doesn't collapse again. Remove filter from the oil sending unit.. use cold chisel to remove gaskets from under the flat pan under intake. You are just trying to "damage" them enough so that oil pressure does not build...REINSTALL.

    Hi I have a cousin with a 2009 tahoe hybri with the 6.0l V8 he's tahoe I'd pk for now lol hopefully but the problems that ya'll talking about I think it has nothing to do with the hybrid system it's the AFM/DOD system this system makes your truck work on 4 cylinders when not needing full throttle I have a 2008 chevy avalanche that at 115k it started doing the same thing as the video. What happened is that with that system it has a common problem a lot of oil consumption but there's a kit it cost like 500 to 600 to deactivate that system or there's auto mechanics that have a good computer scanner that they can deactivate the AFM/DOD system it helps you save gas but it also can damage your engine like I said my Avalanche 2008 had the same sound as the video I had to rebuilt my engine but I havent deleted or deactivated the AFM/DOD system yet i have only put in 2k miles on my Avakanche i don't move it as much till i decide which way to go if i decide eliminating I'll have purchase the kit and have a mechanic replace it but i talked to this other mechanic in LA CA he offer 3 solutions 3 different price 1st cheapest 1k to deactivate the system just refusing the computer module and relearning it to not use the AFM/DOD system 2nd the kit to delete the system its 500 to 600 just in parts plus labor it'll cost me like 4500 to do it which if I had of made my research before rebuilding my engine or my mechanic should have told me about the common problem this system comes with it would have been cheaper while rebuilding the engine they should had told me about it and I had the chance to pick what to do but ok talking about the 3rd option is like the 2and option only this will hit my pocket from 5500 to 6500 but I think this my best option he'll do a camshaft swap plus other things that will make my Avalanche hit easily 700 horsepower at wheel and it'll be ready to add more power in the future he's going to do a camshaft swap than he's going to swap I think he said the lifters from my Vortec engine to a LS6 he's going to do a stage 2 on the transmission torque converter make my differential positive that means that it will lock and both wheels will burn rubber at the same time also the heads idk I thing he's putting LS idk which LS rebuilt heads to it he said after tune and DYNO easily 700+ HP to the wheels also Borla exhaust or flowmaster which I chose also a cut back system with cold air intake from k&n new headers & to stop this monster we'll need to replace the braking system he recommend brembo or wilwood brake system so that's why my 3rd option will hit 5500 to 6500 and that's cause he knows me for years than if I turbo charge it or supercharge it atleast from 2I up 6k more but that'll will be making easy over 1200 horsepower but imma start with the 4rd option 5500 to 6500 it'll add way more then double the HP & TORQUE power and I'll have a truck that with the regular maintenance of oil change I'll be having it for years to come I'm basically making it all new and for a cheap price it's going to have more power than a lambo and the same as a hellcat the hellcat comes with 700 HP but idk even know the price but its I think it's over 75k well that's the problem with the knocking on the engine every vehicle that comes with AFM/DOD system will have that failure just delete or ask the dealer to deactivate but I've heard of cases that the dealer won't help with the deactivation so look for a mechanic in your area that has the scanner to reprogram/relearn you computer module that's the cheapest way to go but if you like something fast cam swap with a stage 2 with some LS6 & LS other parts you'll have a cheap nice toy and I think with the 6.0 it's easier cause it's almost an LS engine or I don't know if the hybrid comes with the 6.0l Vortec or already LS engine if it's the LS engine all you need is deactivate your AFM/DOD system and the 2 extra hybrid engines o think its 80for both or per hybrid engine extra HP if it's for both is cool if its per its supercool it's either 80HP or 160HP more
