This video is a sort of confirmation. I know I'm in my life's purpose, for sure. I'm creating a permaculture food oasis here in the desert of Slab City, called the last free place in America. Slab City came about from an abandoned marine training base during WWII, where displaced war veterans came to make their homes here. Then various transients arrived. A lot of nomadic, seasonal residents call this place home. My soul has always been pulled by the spirit of the southwest. I was tired of the mundane, mainstream lifestyle of the midwest, specifically central Illinois. I was looking for off grid intentional communities. I happened upon this place and moved here in the fall of 2019. My progress has been slow, but I like to say slow progress is good progress.
I loved this Kristin! As a Capricorn rising my whole reason for working is ‘freedom’ now and I’ve really put myself out there in the spotlight on social media for work for the 1st time in my life! I have no anonymity anymore and it’s liberating and strange at the same time. It’s brought bizarre hurtful comments (the story of every person on socials I know) but it’s part of it and cathartic in odd ways to get past each comment and move on.

I am a registered nurse by trade, but about 8 years ago I started my holistic wellness journey. It started out spiritually which was rocky with me leaving the church. Then, I started detoxing which took me into a “vegan” lifestyle. I never called myself vegan, but looking backI was mostly fruitarian which drastically improved my spiritual, mental, and physical state. After I saw the benefits, I started marketing my services in my community. This was before social media frenzy, so not many were interested locally. I got so discouraged so I stopped.
