setting aside your own feelings and desires to experience the reality feelings inner and outer world of another, seeing and hearing the world that they see and hear. also understanding and perceiving the world as it is not as we believe or desire need want it to appear.

So basically Earth understands because she's been hurt by the bombs, yet Water and Air don't because they're so far away and removed from the pain and make no attempt to get closer/have a better understanding. Air literally asks why Water cares so much because it's far away and has nothing to do with them. Fire shows a little bit of concern for Earth and is the only element of the three that seems to show empathy for the injured element. So basically only Earth and Fire have empathy......? That's my theory anyway.

fire is what is causing the destruction (bombs) so fires intuition can relate to why earth is struggleing.

    Strong message. Well done.
Lines of the left guy fade a bit too fast, maybe longer or not moving, think that's what makes them harder to read, had to pause there.
I like the difference the characters. Good job!

Air and water don't understand the pain of earth, only fire looks at her feeling sorry maybe because he can understand the fire of the bombs that caused her pain...very nice film although sad😢

This is totally not what this is meant to mean, but I always have my weird opinion on these kind of things.
I think the big picture represents mental illness.
The three creatures that are first there are spectators. They look at whats on the outside, and are trying to figure out whats wrong. Theres the one in Daniel, the bystander (one not asking questions), and the one who wants to help, but isnt sure how.
When the broken creature comes on set - she tells right away what the issue is, her body and spirit proof. But Nothing seems to happen, and she slowly parishes.

It make me wonder if humans are just getting less empathetic and more emotionless

I don't believe that's quite true. I think those who are less understanding simply have louder voices these days, but if you listen you can find those who are empathetic. There are people who care. A lot of them. They are just quiet.

Laser Pug if you wanna tip, I find that if you show a little empathy to someone, even toward those who don't seem empathetic at all, your more likely to get empathy back.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings with one another. Fire is the one asking what the lights are. Water thinks they're stars. When Air comes, Air doesn't really care. Earth comes along and is hurt. Earth tells Fire that they're bombs, which she may have known cause she got hurt by them. Air ignores and says they're stars. Earth is hurt but the others lack empathy. They can't understand what Earth went through or even worry why she's hurt, except maybe Fire.

Is this by the same person who made the short "Alight"? The styles look pretty similar.

Air water and fire are all debating as to what that is when empathy appears. "It's bombs." She informs them. They refuse to believe this, but as more go off and they ignore the truth, empathy falls apart.

Empathy is the obvious theme as stated by the animators. Why use the antiquated four elements once thought to constitute nature? Is the message that bombs, hence war is unnatural? If they were bombs then fire and wind from the explosion would know what the bombs were. The mined ingredients for the explosive would be from earth. Lack of empathy is one trait of a psychopath, yet the elements don't appear psychopathic. Is it that nature doesn't care if we destroy ourselves for it will continue as stated in the Sara Teasdale poem "There will come soft rains"? Maybe the animators think war is caused by lack of empathy, and the Earth will be destroyed by war, but it doesn't explain the elements.

      fire are the bombs
so only fires intuition can show empathy towards earths pain.
air and water are not causing it so they would not understand.

    Empathy.... please explain whats happening?

    • @quinncanter977
      @quinncanter977 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

the first three characters see that something bad is happening. this is explained by the fourth character as "bombs". the first three quickly deny that anything bad is happening, and instead try viewing it as something good. they see the bad event as nothing to worry about, and that's the metaphor for having a poor sense of empathy.

pandoricality This point is further shown! when the 3rd one says "Why do you care? it has nothing to do with us" further displaying a lack of empathy

+pandoricality but the one that originally asked the question at the end looked at the broken one wondering why she's hurt, displaying an attempt at empathy. how would that go into your first comment?

empathy... so deep that it sinks. Nothing moving. But style and sounds are great. it's just out of the point. They don't believe thoses are bombs so they have no empathy? This is morally out of the point. You failed at your own point.
