Did I hear.... gentlefrog? Finally, I have been adressed in the appropriate way! 🐸 This was the first Tour de Fleece where I followed along on TH-cam as new videos came out - and it was a very lovely ride 😊 And I only have the outside onlooker point of view, but I agree that felt like very wholesome event Nice spinning, Team Chaos Goblin!
As you said: this Tour De Fleece was a resounding success! I absolutely loved it, had loads of fun, and am definitely going to do it again next year. Right now I‘ve been watching your video while knitting socks with yarn I spun during the Tour. Actually: wool I washed, combed, spun, plied and finished during the Tour. Such a kick…😊 Looking forward to seeing your next video!
@@MijnWolden - I already loved hand knitted socks, my grandmother used to knit me a pair every now and again. She passed away and I’ve been doing without ever since darning the last pair became impossible. It took me until now to get over my trauma from having an awful teacher in the mandatory sewing/knitting class at school. But I’m looking forward to the socks!
Wow, that is an impressive amout of yarn! I spun approximately one bobbin and one spindle full, and I'm quite happy with that as well. The bobbin is filled with Kempisch Heideschaap, from a herd that grazes on the Hoge Veluwe, our national park. It was the first wool I ever spun (carded, with a drop spindle) and back then it did not go very well. The wool was drumcarded but I think only once, it was very not-smooth, had a lot of straw bits in it, and was difficult to draft. So this time I got some uncarded wool, thouroughly combed it myself, and it's wonderful to spin. Kind of similar to Texelaar, maybe a bit rougher. And some wild differences in staple length! It feels like quite the redemption :P
this year's tour was really magical! with everyone hyping each other on the discord and seeing everyone's secret santa gift! it was a very fun adventure and thank you for organizing it! :)
I will eat all the sprouts so people who don't like them don't have to >:3 Congrats on that last sprint! I may have barely participated, but it was great seeing everyone's beautiful yarns and cheering each other on! Chaos goblins going strong!
I used tyvek wristbands to label my yarn. The ink does not bleed when written on them and its perfect to make it through all the steps of wet setting and finishing my yarn.
oh my word! u rock at spinning. beautiful yarn! i am gonna practice all year till next year for tour de fleece and join in the fun. thank u Jente. thank u for your channel.
I’m new to the spinning community. I wanted to thank you Jente for your channel and your encouragement. Because of you I was brave and bought my first 2 drop spindles and slivers. In addition I spun my first 12 to 24 inches of yarn (single ply). I hope to have more time this week to practice spinning again. From Salem, Oregon, USA 😊
I didn't notice any sound issues on this video or Sunday's vlog. Your chocolate is amazing! Let's not talk about Brussel sprouts. A mini cabbage that has the taste of one large cabbage squished into one tiny tiny cabbage.
Yay congrats all the chaos goblins 🎉 That is an amazing amount of yarn you've spun Jente. May I ask, have you got really sore fingers now youve finished, and if not how not? Do you do something particular. If I moisturise mine I then get really sore fingers but if I dont moisturise they get rough and snag the fibre and oftenthe skin can actually split 🤷 Looking forward to seeing what you create with this gorgeous yarn 😊
My fingers are fine. I had some sore shoulders in the beginning, but then I got used to the movements. My fingers trap too much of their own sweat so moisturising isn't needed. If anything I have a cream to dry them out if I get eczema from the trapped sweat.
Jente, unless you are spinning mohair, angora, or maybe alpaca, you don't have to thwack your yarn. You only need to do this for yarn that is expected to halo (bloom). However, thwacking is good way to release any collected agression. Kneading homemade bread also works for this.
You should do an episode on thwacking and why do it. Also, when I started spinning, people had me weighing down the wet yarn with a can of veggies on the door knob. Now I hear that's not a good idea
JillianEve has a better video on thwacking than I could ever make. But yes, weighing your yarn isn't the best thing to do, because when it gets wet again, the energy will just go back into the yarn
There isn't an "official" tech edited and thoroughly tested pattern, but you can find a reworking of the original instrcutions on my patreon page for free
Ok, I have run into a dilemma. I counted my meters and converted them to miles but I didn't realize that I should have counted plying. I got 4.55 miles so do I double that?
Depends on how you counted. If my plied yarn was 10 meters, then I would count: 10 for single a, 10 for single b and 10 for the plying, so times 3 actually.
I’m even worse I live in Victoria Australia the largest coffee ☕️ drinking place in the world apparently and I don’t even like the smell also as an Aussie I don’t even touch beer 🍺 can’t stand the smell again but I don’t even drink tea 🫖 I only drink water 💧 so I am really bad even according to my children 👧 👦 and grandchildren . I just travelled to my sons house 🏠 from our home 🏡 and that was 1887kilometers and that was only over three states Australia is a big country

Wow! Congratulations on an epic TDF. Super effort from everyone who participated. Well done! 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Hugs from Down Under … 🥰
Thank you :D
Thanks for your Tour videos. This year finally got me back to spinning!
Yes, happy spinning to you!

Kempisch Heideschaap, nice and local!

the only sprouts I'll eat are the ones prepared by my father in law haha
Best way to spend my lunch break at the office :) knitting my sock and watching Mijn Wolden 👏
How's your sock going? :D
@@MijnWolden I finished it! Onto the second 💪
I used tyvek wristbands to label my yarn. The ink does not bleed when written on them and its perfect to make it through all the steps of wet setting and finishing my yarn.
Oh, I'll look them up
thank-you for inspiring me to do (and vlog) tour de fleece this year
Enjoy❤ all the way from Oakland Oregon usa
Yardage/meterage is of course not as important as the fun you had!
oh my word! u rock at spinning. beautiful yarn! i am gonna practice all year till next year for tour de fleece and join in the fun. thank u Jente. thank u for your channel.
Have fun spinning!

wow!!! congrats on this amazing tour! 12km of fibers running through your fingers is crazy! :O
It is! And then Ellana just goes for 17 even!
Incredible to see you spin through this 2024 tour! Well done!!!❤

I must be very critical for the sound then ;)
Very impressive numbers! Congrats! It was fun to watch.
Thank you!

I learned thwacking is beneficial for all woolen spun yarns, for it makes them even softer and airier.
Great work! So much yarn to knit with now!
Yessss!
I've loved watching these vlogs!
Thank you!
Loved this!
you did great
Amazing and fun!
Thank you :D
Mmm, Stoofvlees Friet... lekker.
You did it, what a number of yarn meters. And what a bunch of yarn to knit up.
I'm very excited for the knitting!
Yippee my guess was pretty close 😎
I'm so excited about the upcoming sweater project hehehe
Good guess indeed!
Congratulations on a very productive Tour \(^-^)/. They are lovely!
Thank you!
11.6 km is 7.2 miles, my American friends.🤩
That sounds a lot less impressive somehow haha
There's a holiday on my birthday!
I guess you have to indeed :)

I love your sweater. Where did you the pattern
That's the summer flirt tee by Jill Karina
Oh my oh my! Are you Crazy? 😂❤ oh ilike it so much!
I might be. There hasn't been an official assesment yet...
Is there a pattern for the orange bunny in the back on the shelf? I would love to check it out.

Meanwhile, I've almost completed one mini-skein. (I have had a lot of other things going on.)
But was it a fun miniskein?

Journalists are the biggest coffeedrinkers in the world. I studied journalism and I also don't even like the smell of it
