@@kumaran140 To be honest I'm not really sure how to do that. Maybe look for some Plex forums online to find the answer. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
You don't need so many libraries. You just need 2. One for movies and one for tv shows. You can make then collections which will be a seperata tab. Very cool.
@@reddmartian5587 what do you mean? If this user has plex then he can add your account to his plex server. For instance if you create a plex account then i could add you.
Thank you for the kind words and yes I have PLEX OCD with my many folders!! Glad you enjoyed the video and make sure to check out our channel we have over 300 videos. Thank you again for watching I really appreciate it!
I would say using a lot of folders is not worth the effort. The Plex metadata already contains the categories of your media. It allows you to sort by category in the app.

I have my Plex Server setup on my Synology NAS and is had a 2gb ram with an added 8gb ram stick for a total of 10gb of ram and 8tb of storage on 2 hard drives in my duel bay Synology NAS
@casper75559 Hoarding fever? What does that mean? Sorry. Right now I have a 20TB, a 16TB, and a 14TB filled with one free 16TB. Though I could free up some space if I covert some of the raw files that I haven't gotten to yet
On 32TB out of 70TB! Straight 4K blu-rays rips absolutely hog space! I reckon my fam and I have prob watched at least 80% of it too. But I also backup family photos, videos etc on Plex too.
@RoninXsumari Yeah, raw files take up a whole bunch of space. I convert all of my stuff to cut out as much extra stuff without sacrificing quality. Like getting rid of languages I won't use for example. Typically can get them about 1/3 of the size while having the same playback quality, though upscaled 1080p for DVDs

Thank you for your video! Unfortunately, I can't add any Libraries under the Settings. When I click Settings, I only get a few options ending with your "player" options. My plex was working great and recently all my Libraries disappeared and I only have the Live TV and Movies and Shows (default). Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you!
if you have 2 plex accounts meaning you will need 2 emails you should be able to link them you may need to change the port on 1 server and you will need 2 servers....fwi you dont need to make a massive category list like this video plex has this in either filter option or categories in the movie section...manually having so many folders is time consuming to sort...id stick with movies, tv etc
OMG what am I doing wrong? I ripped a movie, I have it saved to the computer in a folder with movie name and date ( from IMDB). I used MakeMKV and Hand brake and when I follow your directions, the files do not highlight to be clicked. I have watched video after video and it's not working for me. I have an external disc drive and a 2T Seagate portable storage ( backup plus slim).
In the Plex app go to settings and then quality and make sure the automatic quality adjustments are turned off. This can lower the picture quality when you have a slower connection.
I have everything set properly on my router and plex server, my home network works fine but remote access outside of lan only allows me to play 60 seconds of any movie in my library. It used to work in the past but recently started acting up, any suggestions?
Unless you have the Plex Pass you cant access your library outside your network. I get the same 60 seconds playback as well. You can setup up a media server with WD and use that to playback movies on the road. Its just not as functional an interface as Plex. Otherwise purchase the life time plex pass and your all good.
I'll have to check for a software update, as I've noticed that mp4 movies won't play on my Firestick 4K. I have the Plex Media Server on my Western Digital NAS.
It's definitely a fire stick issue. Mp4 movies are the easiest to playback and transcode. MVK is much more difficult. Thank you for watching and keep me posted.
@@UltimateTechHub Updated my Plex server and installed VLC on the Firestick. It's not elegant but it does seem to be a work around. Will delve further down this rabbit hole later.
Plex is having weird behavior on my Linux fedora machine. When adding a library and selecting a folder it will locate all subfolders in the root directory, and in the home folder it will find the user folder but afterward, it doesn't show any other folders. So I manually typed in the directory to my movie folder ( being /home/user/videos/movies) and it doesn't locate any movies. So I'm guessing plex doesn't have access to user folders; any ways I can go around to fix this?
My best guess is put your media in a different folder with no sub folders just the movie files and that's it. However I'm not a Linux professional so you may want to do some more research on it. It works very well with windows. Good luck and keep me posted if you find a work around. If you do let me know so I can post a quick video on it for other Linux users. Thank you for watching.
Comprehensive video on what plex is, requirements, etc. Unfortunately, the first 2/3rd of the video has nothing to do with the title topic. Please rename. If you came here for settings, skip to 6:12.
And the next 2 minutes is how to forward ports. Starts talking about Plex settings at 7:53 (but just reviews default settings for 30 seconds before talking about plex pass). Title is quite misleading.
"Just set to maximum" Had higher hopes for this going over some of the options to optimize Plex. The "always crank it to 11" mindset here was disappointing.
Hi. Maybe this is outside the scope but I have an external drive with my movies on it. I have a new windows 10 PC and I plugged the USB in and the computer shows it as drive E: but when I edit the plex library - add folders this drive does not appear. Any suggestions appreciated.
This is such a great and thorough guide so I really wish it would work but no. All steps are easy to follow but still it will not work all the way for me. My library works fine on the computer, but on the Apple TV where I want to watch it just isn't possible. Unless I unplug the ATV and connect with WiFi and enable the Relay mode, which both results in really bad quality. I've been at this for months no, I'm getting no help from Plex either, so yay.
Did you add the Plex Account to Apple TV using the plex/tv/link? My Plex works with Apple, ROKU and any other devices. But you have to use the plex/tv/link. Keep me posted.
I use plex and I have a problem. sometimes the pc's fan wants to be at full power. it makes a very loud noise and sometimes it doesn't even want to stop spinning. I use MP4 MKV files for the most part, so there are no problems but some files makes this problem. so I don't know why this is happening or how to fix this. have you had or heard of this problem? can you help me?
It's just a processor thing. Some files need more processing so the fans probably kick in to keep your PC cool. Maybe upgrade your PC with better components would help.
Hey mate. Thx for the video. I got a problem. When at home with wifi i can play 4k movies in an instant. When i disconnect and use 5G (i have enough bandwith, over 100 mbit/s) it says the server is not fast enough. I enabled remote access. 720p anime will play rather quickly, just a little bit slower than on wifi. I set the quality sections in the settings to max quality. Any ideas ? Much appreciated

i use plex inside openvault but my movies and tvshows are on old zyzel and synology nas how can i add then inside plex do you know that?
I have been ripping my tv shows and have been saving them as webm because it shows the episode preview thumbnail. My question is is it ok to use webm? I have read on Reddit that plex doesn't like webm. I would hate to do everything in webm and have compatibility issues.
I've heard that Plex can't play webm files but i cant confirm that because i do not use that format. I use mkv for most of videos. Good luck and keep me posted.

Hi enjoy watching your channel wanted to know for running plex server on window 10 Pro I have mixed hdd 3 are 4tb wd red iron wolf and seagate firecuda and 1 wd blue 2tb do I have them in striping or mirror 2 of the 3 hdd or just leave them as is and just add media what do you suggest
I would go with mirroring if you want high reliability and redundancy. If you want better performance and high capacity go with striping. Here's a video I did on Plex install and setup with TrueNAS scale its very thorough. th-cam.com/video/geb8tLYftlA/w-d-xo.html
Thank You yes I had used Truenas scale at one point and watched your video on having it on windows 10 and I have win 10 pro so I can use the raid functions I had changed my pc case to Phanteks Enthoo Pro so I have 6 bays and 2 ssd 2.5 I may just use striping on all 4 it I can get some bigger hdd 8 or 10 tb@@UltimateTechHub

Nice video, but my biggest problem with Plex is working offline, it's always a problem with that.
Does your Plex server have a static IP address?
@@UltimateTechHub yes it have, but the TV and plex server are in different routers and every time my Internet provider fails its always a problem to connect, and sometimes after long series I had some stuttering on TV but works fine on cellphone.
Thank you!
You need to sign into the Plex account on your computer. If your on the web site it won't let you upload the libraries.
Thanks for the information. I have a question can you have two plex servers on the same network?
Yes. But you can't log into both at the same time. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
because when am watching movies remotely the remote server goes offline and reconnect
@@mycasa2000 do you have the static IP address and the port forwarding?
if you have 2 plex accounts meaning you will need 2 emails you should be able to link them you may need to change the port on 1 server and you will need 2 servers....fwi you dont need to make a massive category list like this video plex has this in either filter option or categories in the movie section...manually having so many folders is time consuming to sort...id stick with movies, tv etc
I have an external disc drive and a 2T Seagate
portable storage ( backup plus slim).
When I'm streaming from a network outside my home, the quality is terrible? Is there something to tweak?
In the Plex app go to settings and then quality and make sure the automatic quality adjustments are turned off. This can lower the picture quality when you have a slower connection.
I have everything set properly on my router and plex server, my home network works fine but remote
access outside of lan only allows me to play 60 seconds of any movie in my library.
@@UltimateTechHub Thank you for your reply.
is it safe to open a port forwarding?
Yes it's very safe.
I have issues where family and friends in different location my PLEX constantly buffer, is there a reason for that?
It could many reasons. Network issues in there location or VPNs.
@@briancowan4318 VLC is a good player. Thank you for watching and good luck.
Thank you for watching.
i’m on mac and it won’t let me make folders or even a library
Comprehensive video on what plex is, requirements, etc. Unfortunately, the first 2/3rd of the video has nothing to do with the title topic. Please rename. If you came here for settings, skip to 6:12.
And the next 2 minutes is how to forward ports. Starts talking about Plex settings at 7:53 (but just reviews default settings for 30 seconds before talking about plex pass). Title is quite misleading.
"Just set to maximum"
Had higher hopes for this going over some of the options to optimize Plex.
The "always crank it to 11" mindset here was disappointing.

Why ssa sub doesn't work with plex? HDR contents
Hey, I got Plex pass to download movies. Anyone else have issues where you can only download a few movies at a time?
You may want to lower the quality settings to help with the playback. That's my best idea. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
