Still a lot of HV cables are not fixed to anything and not even protected, at least not seen in the video... Just vibration may eventually destroy the insulation and shielding and potentially cause a short, depending on the mileage though. HV cables should be treated as they were fuel pipes on an ICE car at least...
There is a lot more fixing and protection but it’s always a juggling act when editing as to how much you show as more people’s attention span is not amazing these days.
Guys, this just makes me want to drive your conversion again after seeing hows its put together. Amazing work! For the record I was uber impressed by my original drive. Whens the next test drive event? 😉
Love it guys. You said you have motor temp on the guages - did you mean motor or inverter? I'm trying to decide which one is most important to monitor on a H9 conversion
We put a motor symbol but it is actually the inverter temp as that’s the most important but most people do not know what an inverter does so saying motor is easier.
There seem to be a few electrical connectors that could potentially be submerged when "wading" through flooded local roads ... has this been allowed for in their design or do you have to avoid standing water?
Just a thought. If a mini had a twin fuel tank setup and has twin fuel caps. Would having a CHAdeMO on the second port be the same size as the type 2 port and work with the new charging electrics. Obviously a CHAdeMO to CCS adaptor would be needed and limiting the max charging speed to something low like 10-20KW. I might just be talking out my arse though.
Great videos really enjoyed them, but very frustrating to find out you won’t sell direct to keen DIYers, what’s the point of such an instructive video if I can’t build one my self?
Fellten are thinking about offing a service where you come in with your own car for a week and a member of the team does the conversion with you. Issue is alot of DIYers are not as capable as they think.
Same reason most companies making kits will only sell them through qualified installers... imagine the insurance nightmare of selling high voltage kits like this to all the Johnny Two-Thumbs out there who think gloves and safety equipment are for losers.
That man has a very steady hand to pour like that whilst talking on camera ;) I'd still go for the convenience of a dedicated coolant filler. Seems much easier especially with getting the air out.
What is the value of the resistant between the battery to chaise ground? Why are you using a normal Lead acid battery in this build, why not a Lipo or similar battery.
Excellent kit and engineering! I tried to gert numbers if it would be possible to do this in brazil but the price too limiting. Would be nice to convert our classics too!
As the mini was always designed to be front wheel drive it was left that way to keep the balance and original driving experience. Less the noisy smelly ICE.
It’s crazy, if you leave it petrol can do what you want as they never check but as soon as you go EV they look at everything even if it’s not ev related.
@@Hazell_Nutz At least you have the option to retrofit these wonders in the UK. In Spain, for now, it's not even possible to get the vehicle approved for driving. To do this, you have to navigate through a pointless bureaucratic odyssey, with the conversion needing to be done by an authorized workshop, signed off by an engineer, and testing required for each modified part (powertrain, brakes, battery, weight distribution, etc.). It's an economic madness designed to drive users crazy.
I don't get it. These guys go thru all this trouble to make SOME things look great and other things look as if no one ever even bothered to clean them. Like he is worried about a quote, "BIG BLACK UGLY CHARGE PORT". What about all the other big ugly things you did nothing to? Did they even bother to wipe off the seats or wash/vacuum the carpet? DUMB.
My guess is you haven’t watched Episode 2 when a new carpet set is delivered? Also the charge port is a big eyesore if not designed properly not a small bit of dirt. Please link me to a video of yourself building a vehicle so I can get some tips.
The 2 holes in the rear subframe you refer to as jig holes are for the fuel filter mount on a injection mini
Thank you good to know

Been a while since I've been so excited for an upload on TH-cam!!
Thank you means a lot. Really want to make great content that people enjoy. Don’t always get right but we try.

Not sure on your driving ability can you handle all the power of the electric mini ? 😂

I may have missed it. But what was the predicted range on the two battery packs?
They have been tested from WLTP as was 110miles
😊😊
Very cool!!
Thank you
Just awesome!
Thanks again!
i wanna do this on my gen 2 mini
I have a R53 would love to convert it

All the connectors are ip67 along with the charger/ dcdc unit. Then all pins not used have blanks fitted.
It does wade very well

It’s an option, can’t do chademo to ccs though as the communication is different as chademo uses canbus but ccs uses power line
communication

@@Hazell_Nutz well if they do I’d be interested. I have a Bsc in Engineering and 20 years as a Chief engineer on ships! I think i can handle it ;)

Issue is space it is so tight
Any reason fo not going with ccs,or is it because it's a small battery, cheers guys from Kenya
It’s just because it’s a small battery. But Jaunt in Australia is fitting ccs to there moke builds. So it is doable as it’s a 350v system
What is the value of the resistant between the battery to chaise ground? Why are you using a normal Lead acid battery in this build, why not a Lipo or similar battery.
at least 500 Ω/V but we aim for about 2000. Why replace a perfectly good battery….

It’s not a cheap kit
What was the thinking with it been a Fwd kit? Is there a Rwd kit as an option?

Well said
WIll it have the low sound below 20kph
Normally the driver pretending it still has an engine 😂
weird that you have to make sure to not drill into the car in order to get it registered properly, must be some archaic laws I guess?
