    That looks great. You did a good job on it. You did a good job explaining about the big block. You are absolutely correct. The 409 was a hot commodity in this era. Rodders ate those 409 engines up until '65 when the new gen big blocks hit the scene. Even after, you'll see hot rods with a 409 in it.

    • @sodakmodelcars

      Pretty common for multiple rooflines in the "same" car even all the way through the 60s. Certainly can be the "whats different" about a car. Thanks for watching

    I saw Bob Falfa in the thumb nail and I had to click! I wanted to see if you made the actual movie car with the big block Chevy and flip front end. I am not disappointed, the 348 - 409 engines would be a hot set up back in '62.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to disappoint, but wanted to stay within the scope of the movie. Also leaves the option of the 2lane blacktop car more interesting and not just redoing the "same" build/car

    One of the cool things about post sedans like my brother's 55 to hotrodders and racers is that the car is lighter weight than a hardtop.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always known they were more popular because they were much stiffer, hadn't heard they were lighter. Interesting why that would be since they have more roof, post and glass.

    Now you have me curious. I agree with you. A car from 62 couldn't have a 396-454 family big block, but I don't remember if they ever mentioned what his car had in it. Falfa's car, the car from Two Lane Blacktop and Mike Finnagan's Blasphemi all seem to be related. I'd love to build all three.

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they never mentioned it. So I took creative liberty. He seemed pretty confident in his 55 so I went with the hottest thing of the era.

    How did you cut the wheel well out so good. Im doing a version that wheel well is open like that. Its not American graffiti car. Just a drag car from childhood

    • @sodakmodelcars
      @sodakmodelcars  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used a pill bottle that would match the diameter of the opening and wrapped it in coarse grit sandpaper. (80grit) Worked it back and forth until close, then moved to finer paper to finish radius. Also, I used some fine evergreen to make the lip around the radius.
