Need to hear a playing of the close to original Kalman gypsy and Hungarian dance music. Eighty years ago my Father imported the music and played it while I napped, at age 3 or 4 years
Right. Conversely a lot of anti-Magyar Jews speak our language and enjoy our dishes. But why spoil the fun with sour remarks like that Mr. Fried? Remember: Live and let live.
andrew fried One of Kalman‘s biggest fans was an Austrian Corporal named Adolf Hitler. He offered Honorary Aryan status to Kalman to try to get him to remain in Europe.
andrew fried I should have mentioned why Kalman wrote only one Operetta, his first, in Hungarian. The Hungarians of the day regarded him as “That upstart Jew from Bad Fökk”. The Viennese regarded him as the successor to Lehar. They couldn’t have cared less that he was Jewish.
Oh, I know-I have sung in “Countess Mariza”, “The Csardas Princess”, and “The Duchess of Chicago” in New York. The Ohio Light Opera is the best place to go nowadays.
I am a life long Imre Kalman fan. Thank you TH-cam for bringing this marvel.
Kalman's music is a total joy!
Nagyon tetszik és gyakran megnézem.

ENNYI EV UTAN IS GYONYORU HALLANI KALMAN IMRE ORETTJET
A címben Kálmán Imre nevét irhattak volna helyesen. Elnézést kérek.
The first hour and 40 minutes (the actual program) are marvelous, but the rest is editing detritus that should be removed.
Oh, I know-I have sung in “Countess Mariza”, “The Csardas Princess”, and “The Duchess of Chicago” in New York.
