      Well unfortunately I shot the VXR 31.5 at GAOS last Friday and went home with one. It will be my primary bow. I couldn't believe how well it is balanced and how little pin float I have with it.

    Thank you for this review. I have a Vertix and love it. I have shot the VXR many times and it is nice too. At 30" draw, the string angle may be the only advantage, even though I shoot the Vertix as good as any bow I have ever had.

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The string angle on the 31.5 is the big advantage for sure. But the Vertix is a very hard bow to beat.

    My first bow bought used lasted me 7 seasons. I finally opened up the wallet and got the Vertix and the thing is as good as advertised... Will probably take another 5+ years for technology to convince me I don’t have the best bow money can buy.

    I have been looking a lot at the Triax, Vertix and VXR. It seems I can find a Triax for a few hundred less than a VXR. Would the VXR be worth the money over the Triax for a bow that will be used mostly for treestand hunting whitetails? The Vertix seems to be harder to find on the used market right now for whatever reason. Also, these videos are so helpful! Thank you so much!

    I love your page.I know you can't do everything but I will ask. some of us older bow hunters can't shoot 70 pounds anymore. Some of us would love to see reviews on new bow at 60 pounds !!!! Thank you and keep up the great work

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to shoot 60-pound hunting bows, but I had so many people want speed tests for 70-pounders that I switched. But outside of speed tests, there's not much I'd change in the reviews. Smooth at 70 will be smooth at 60 and I imagine accuracy will be the same.

    0:00 I've shot bows all my life, & it's taken 25yr to work my way up to my first Mathews bow, it's a 30" Vertix, that I purchased in 2019 new. It's a beautiful bow but it's very unstable at full draw, I can't believe I've even kept it this long, but I've had to go back to my Hoyt, please advise I would love to get this bow stable to shoot long distance. Thanks

  • @JimD4570

    I am considering a new Vertix or the VXR I am still shooting my 2008-Mathews-drenalin at 28.5 draw set at 70 lbs.. I have heard people say they don't like SW cams and that the vxr has a heavy draw through the draw cycle...

  • @honkerh8r564
    @honkerh8r564 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the VXR is similar enough to the Vertix to not justify buying a new bow, would you also say that the difference between the Triax and the VXR wouldn't be worth spending money on a new bow?

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That new grip is so much better than the Triax grip. I also like how the VXR 28 feels at full draw more than the Triax, but the differences are fairly small. I’d be more likely to upgrade from the Triax than I would from the Vertix.

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only got two other hunting bows in so far. The Bowtech Revolt and the Prime Black 3. The Prime is nutty accurate and easy to shoot/tune, but is a bit loud. Still getting used to the Revolt, but it is a sweetheart so far. Feels as good as anything. I'll have more on this bow soon.

  • @mikescustomtackle9898

    Your variation in speed between the 2 bows is because you actually need a half inch longer draw module on the shorter axle to axle bow to get the true draw length you are shooting. That is why you are picking up the 5 fps over the other bow. If your shooting the same module sizes on them both then one is actually shorter draw length. This is also where you are talking string angle comes in to play.

    • @joshfeister6566
      @joshfeister6566 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He was faster with the vertix and it's the shorter ata bow

    • @mikescustomtackle9898
      @mikescustomtackle9898 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshfeister6566 Yes being shorter axle to axle it needs a longer module to obtain the correct draw length ultimately gaining more speed.

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had to give back the Halon 32 after I finished with my review, but I much prefer the newer models. I like the draw cycle more, the grip is far improved, and the newer Mathews (Triax/Vertix/VXR) are much quieter with less vibration.

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo

      If you want a new bow at that price and DL, I had the PSE Ferocity last year, which was great. It's no longer in the lineup, but I'm sure some dealers will have it. The PSE Drive 3B would also be a good choice. But if you are willing to go with a used bow, the Bowtech Realm (2018) would be a great choice and will fit your DL. I also like the Prime Centergy, but changing draw lengths is a bit trickier.

    • @jordanpowell228
      @jordanpowell228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Archery talk is correct. Buying a used flagship would be a better option than buying a budget bow and the realm would be a great choice however i would probably go with the realm x or a PSE evoke , bowtech and PSE have the adjustable cam technology on lock.
