  • The issue of animal testing is a key consumer concern. Valérie Michaut, L’Oréal’s International Director of Alternative Methods and Reconstructed Skins, explains how the group no longer tests any of its products or ingredients on animals and has not done so for 14 years, long before the regulations were put in place. Since 1979, L'Oréal has been working on alternative methods to animal testing to assess the safety of ingredients and products.

i don't know but every company says: we don't test in animals, they are lying ?
they don't open the doors of their laboratories for visits by the public or jornalists

Hi @Danilo Manrique, thank you for your comment. No, L’Oréal does not test any of its cosmetic products nor ingredients in any of its brands on animals. We are for a world without animal testing.
Since 1989, we have not tested the safety of our products on animals, 14 years before regulations required us to do so. There are effective non-animal ways to ensure the safety of cosmetic products. For example, human reconstructed skin is more accurate for analyzing how cosmetic ingredients and products will behave on human skin.

Hello @Benedita thank you for your comment. L’Oréal does not test any of its cosmetic products nor ingredients in any of its brands on animals. The fact that not all our brands are certified does not mean that products are tested on animals. Garnier recently underwent certification and we are now considering which brand will go next.
Some of our brands are already PETA certified (IT Cosmetics,Urban Decay, and NYX Professional) and Garnier was recently certified by Cruelty Free International (Leaping Bunny).

@@loreal lmao well obviously you're just trying to save your own skin and your brand. This is so sad. You honestly can't hide from the evidence of animals being put through horrible things because of your business. Just admit to it, animals should never be suffering just for your own economics. You won't even admit to it, and honestly, saying this is literally ratting yourself out. you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hello Mariana Juarez, L'Oréal does not test any of its products on animals, nor carry out any animal testing in our labs in China.
For over 10 years we have been working with the Chinese authorities to adopt non-animal methods for all cosmetic products. Over the past few years, China has removed the requirement to do any animal testing for the great majority of cosmetics sold in the country.
Since 2014 shampoos, bath gels and many make up products made in China have not required animal testing. Since May 2021, imported non-functional products (with a safety certificate from their country of origin), no longer require animal testing. 🌿
