- I'm building a battery back up system to avoid using our house generator during emergency power outages. For this setup I'm going to use a Sungoldpower TP6048 6000 watt inverter. What does an inverter do? How does a grid tied system work vs an offgrid? Those are some things I go over in this video.

I'm curious about the amps to watts calc for the projected needs for the well pump. Looks like it should be (amps X volts) / 60 to get per minute watts and then times 4 mins. So 60 watts per minute 240 per 4 min duration instead of 200. Is that right? Thanks for the video. Would really love a detailed video on the process of getting the unit grid tied.
I have 4 TP 6048 in series, im still working on finishing my project but this is a rebrand ,MPP solar and EG4 has the same inverters but more expensive
are you thinking of another inverter that does a hybrid system with both solar panels and windmill in the near future if possible. I'm doing the same to go off grid with solar power, but still working the system to choose from.

I am considering the 6000watt unit, but am having trouble with battery compatibility communication with the BMI from other sites comments, I do not know if the comments from people are because of their battery not being BMI .most have experienced error code while trying to program the battery.Will this unit accept any littuim Bms 48v battery as listed in their brochure?

Some split phase inverters will not allow you to ground the neutral on the AC output. Can you ground the output neutral on the TP6048 without destroying the unit?
I use a service panel where the neutral and ground are separate. Basically I took a basic Square D service panel and added one of their ground bar kits. Works like a champ
what do we do living in the middle of a bunch of giant oak trees? we’re considering an ecoflow delta pro power station for $3000, but several claim the option you suggest here is much smarter, cheaper, and efficient. how could we do this without the benefit of much solar help?

I'm offgrid . Can i use genorater in place of grid tie .?
So how well does this run your well pump? I know the low frequency inverters do a much better job running pump motors vs the high frequency inverters. I was thinking of using our low frequency inverter with our well pump and the Hybrid inverter for the home. So the well pump would be connected to the grid and the low frequency inverter AC coupled to the well pump so if the power goes out that inverter will power the pump as needed and the the main hybrid inverter would run the house. Not sure how well that would work because I’d need to have the Hybrid Inverter out where the well pump is because running long runs of DC is not a good idea. Just thinking out loud. We have a 5hp singe phase 240v 35amp well pump for our property and home. Some times we needed the water on while the power was out and our generator handled that just fine. But as you said, propane is gobbled up fast.
In order to simplify you have taken out grid connection in all your sketches of inverter connection. It is confusing where will the grid connection be connected?
Have you considered a Tesla Powerball?
I own the 6K Sungold system and I can tell you if the batteries run low the system will not run it shuts off. I'm not sure why Sungold says it will run without batteries. I even changed the program but there is really no way to exclude batteries. It is not in the program. Other than that the system is flawless

If you are in the U.S. You wont be exporting power to the grid with the TP6048. It is NOT UL1741 listed which is a typical requirement of the power company.

What you have there is a Hybrid inverter not grid tie.
I need an inverter with some actual outlet so I can plug into it.
It would be nice if it had the capability to connect external sensors for zero export operation, it can completely eliminate the need for paperwork in areas that allow DIY electrical work on your own house. As far as I know, only Sol-Ark offers both external sensors and backup capability.
Glad many of my appliances are natural gas powered. I keep my refrigerator tightly closed during power outage and place a chair in front of the door as a reminder. At most we lost power for 8 hours one time in 30 years, food was kept cold and freezer foods did not thaw. In my case this does not justify a $1300 inverter plus batteries.
You pay $500-$1000 in propane fuel for your generator every time the power goes out? Good heavens! How long of an outage are we talking here?

Well you have a hybrid inverter in the SunGold and not a Grid Tied inverter.

Don't buy from this company. There is no phone number to call for real customer service and they will only email you back. It will take them days to email you back. This is not a company to do business with. I wish I had ordered from Watts 24/7. My bad
The company's problem is that you write to them by email and they don't answer, and if my equipment is damaged, I'm left without a guarantee because they don't answer the messages

With all that propane and property, you guys must have a huge carbon foot print not counting your power tools and the long move from Oregon.
