You put the tape all the way across the boards and stick to the surface you’re working on, don’t cut it out till the holes poked. This makes sure when the peg board is pressed in tight the beads can’t come up when you pull the board out.
Just got done doing a Sonic the Hedgehog piece, poked holes with an awl. I like using the awl because it's effortless to poke through the tape, I don't have to firmly press through like with a pen. I also spent the time poking out each individual hole as opposed to using another of my expensive pegboards to do the work for me. I don't have to worry about any of the beads coming unstuck. Also, after I finished poking out all the holes, I took a lighter(a spoon would have worked well, too) and REALLY pressed the tape against the beads to prep for the flip-over. I didn't have any beads come detached throughout. I'm currently awaiting them to cool down from fusing.

Can you show a vid of you flipping it over and removing the boards? Looks really hard and I bet you have some good tips! Thanks! :)

It's to allow the heat to escape and prevent air bubbles. Also guarantees a good tape stick

Why the holes?
proper ventiliation so you won't have those little holes in your final pieces!
Curious - could you just take a tray and flip it upside down (so the pegs are pointing down) and use the peg board to poke a bunch of holes at once?
Please make Gigantamax Charizard
I need to and make more Gmax Pokémon. I’ve only done a few
Holes aren't needed. Quit gatekeeping a hobby.
I’m not doing all that shit
