I've played against this type of build twice with Simic crabs and it went both ways. Depends mostly on being able to deal with the Djinn I would say. Nice alternative to play being mono-coloured :-)
Thanks! Yeah, the mono-blue seems to be more focused on the use of the instants & sorceries, while the simic one is more of the self mill. Then getting your win cons on the battlefield quickly & for cheap. I've seen an azorius build that is similar to mono-blue, but reanimates the djinn using white reanimation.
Both decks share a lot in playstyle and strategy yet feel very different to pilot from the few differences between the list. That being said the mono blue variant came first and has been a powerful deck in standard for some time now. The simic version is an evolution that seems more powerful but sacrifices a bit of consistency for that power. Both decks are very real in my opinion. Lastly, with the recent introduction of the UW oculus variants the deck has morphed into something that looks similar at first glance but is a very different deck with different strategies in general. The UW build seems to quickly establish very big flying threats. The deck is VERY resilient to removal and seems consistent. All solid choices for a tournament IMHO.
Surprisingly, I haven't played against the Azorius Oculus deck yet, but I've seen it posting some decent results. It looks scary to play against. I really like your analysis. I think it's spot on based on what I've seen & experienced. 👍😄
You fish-slapped that first opponent! 😆😆
😂 Fish-slapped! 😂 Love it! 😂
