I remember seeing Outback all over the place when he was released. I was kinda shocked when he wasnt featured in the cartoon.

I committed the S.U.R.V.I.V.A.L acronym to memory a few decades ago, before joining the Army myself. It has changed a bit over the years; I have a Vietnam-era and a few post-Vietnam copies of FM 21-76 and FM 3-05.70. Anyway, Outback was one of my favorite Joes as a kid. I had the figure in the white t-shirt, and he and Muskrat had quite a few adventures together, along with Sci-Fi, Lift Ticket, and Low Light. I was always more of a fringe Joe fan, as opposed to the core characters like Duke, Lady Jaye, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes.
I started watching some of these a few years back and recently I've been catching up. Like many kids of the '80s, I grew up with the toy line and watching the cartoons before school. Later, I picked up some comics, and I liked the live action movies, even getting into the first one for free as I was an Army Recruiter, and we were invited to set up a booth for the opening night. That was the first time I saw Multicam, and I was glad when we started getting it issued for Afghanistan and later adopted the similar OCP.

Jajajaja, great video Jesse, what's funny is that Outback was my first Joe figure, my mom bought to me and the character has a especial place in me, loved the video, and a very interesting character, too bad he hasn't been seen in other medias outside the comics, in an animated serie could be interesting to see him, maybe in a Joe live action movie, anyway excelent work, keep up.

GIJCC Magazine explains his white hair and beard being collateral effect of him being exposed to the Z- Compound that almost turn him into a zombie. The 50th Anniversary version is from a joe subteam called Wolf Squad. If look close you will see that various figures from that line shares color painting for a themed subgroup. Flint, Dusty and Bazooka for a night patrol; Ace, Sightline, Hit&Run, Nightfox(Exclusive figure) and Torpedo as urban/night Wolf Squad; Outback, Falcon and Shooter as black ops Wolf Squad (the only figures with the squad patch besides Ace and the Skystriker). Spirit and Chuckles as a desert themed team. Duke, Blowtorch v5, Heavy Duty and possibly Shipwreck would make a swamp/jungle team.
Interesting that the comic mentioned The Coil. Sunbow had another season in the works featuring them until they lost the rights to DIC.

I like to think it was because he was wearing an orange shirt and they didn't want his hair and shirt to be the same color. They never explained it the comics but other than that, it made no sense
I believe it was just to make him look older just like they give them different colored outfits.
And not one mention of a steakhouse. I am so disappointed.
