    More from Stabila
    Standard spirit levels
    The best quality will prove its worth. Sooner or later. Every craftsman knows that not everything runs smoothly on the construction site. How good it is then when you can rely on the fact that your tools will not let you down when you need them. Just imagine: your spirit level falls from the scaffold and, after a hard bang, it works just as accurately as it did on the first day. That is STABILA quality! STABILA spirit levels are constructed with a fixed moulded vial which measures absolutely accurately even under demanding conditions - no readjustment necessary. For this reason craftsmen worldwide trust our spirit levels. At STABILA, every craftsman finds the right spirit level: depending on his requirements and application needs - light or tough, short or long, up to and including special spirit levels which are intended completely for one trade.

    I've used stabila levels ever since I was an apprentice. A few years ago I made the mistake of buying a Stanley 6ft as it was much cheaper and seemed as good. After only a few weeks it was way out of level. I went straight back to using Stabila

    I like the modern little electronic digital level meters. Really handy that they can be recalibrated in seconds for certainty, and can read out in degrees or fall gradient. Of course on rougher surfaces you still need to attach them to a long straight edge - a good use for a stabila level!

    used a stabila, was incredibly accurate. . . until it wasn't.
    Then it was a case of spending 90 quid to replace it or find something just as accurate but with better value for the money. So obviously, I use a stanley level now and it's been spot on since the day I got it.

    I used a frends fat max level the yesterday to put some door linings in whilst mine was down... Halfway through it twigged that the level had a 2mm bow and was throwing all my frames, that night after work I went out and bought a 6ft stabila, I'd never buy anything else after the first use, nice clear viles, great weight, feels solid and especially after seeing this video.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly Lewis, when you're talking 6' or 1.8m levels, you should check them against a straight edge periodically. Any level that length, whoever it's made by, is prone to a bend over time. I've used (and still do) Stabila and Fatmax Extreme 1.8m levels and over the years, had to buy replacements for both due to bowing.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Stabila R is the only one I know that doesn't bow. All the others will bend with time unless you are really careful all of the time.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkillBuilder I've only used the Stabila 96-2 1.8m. Our previous one developed a bow. I've not tried the R's yet. If they're as rigid as you say, they might be worth a look. Certainly look robust. Not a bad price either. 5-10 quid more than my 96-2's! Cheers.

    • @hartsymk1
      @hartsymk1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I obviously learned my lesson tht day, but yehh I'd always check mine, hence why it was out of action and had to borrow one. But ironically that was out as well

  • @BischBaschBosch

    I've had pretty good experience with Stabila levels. It's good kit. Also use the Stanley Fatmax Extreme levels. One detail on the Fatmax I like over Stabila (and just about any other brand other than engineering levels) is the vial. On the Fatmax Extreme's, the markings on the vial precisely meet the edge of the bubble. Makes spotting level on the fly much easier. Most other brands, there's a little gap between markings and the bubble when level. Much harder to gauge accurately.

    • @markrainford1219
      @markrainford1219 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except on my Stanley level where the bubble on one end just keeps growing. Fun to watch the look on peoples' faces when they ask to borrow your level for a second though.

  • @allanhalliwell5302

    I am a carpenter with over 40 years experience in the trade and fully recommended these levels as the best on the market but I work in Germany for 6 years from 1990 and noticed that the price over there was at the time 50% less than the UK for the same product just another example of rip off Britain

    I've got Stabila levels but they have ratings on them on how tough they are to abuse between 1 and 3 stars. So do the lower rated ones also have the resin injection? Likely not. I'm happy with mine but others sing praises over Stanley Fatmax levels too. Even Wickes ones.
