    Just recently picked up a Marantz SR7015 and was looking up extra amps online to power 2 rear Atmos speakers. But reading the comments and seeing your video helped me see that my 5.2.4 setup would more than be enough with just the Marantz receiver itself. Big help. I appreciate it.

    One thing I would like to add: be sure you use high quality shielded RCA cables. If you don't, they can pick up radio frequency interference and you will have a hum coming from the speakers. This isn't theoretical - It happened to me. How I figured it out was I unplugged the cables from the receiver and left them plugged into the amp. I turned on the amp and had the hum. I then unplugged the cables from the amp, turned it back on and no hum. I ordered shielded cables from Monoprice and that fixed it.

Always wanted to experiment with adding an external , but this preout, preamp out , line out, line level stuff has only partially sunk in, but your vid did show actual hookups so thank. Nice work.

    You should show people how to put Banana Plugs on the end of their speaker wires. And the RCA Interconnects you demoed are un-shielded. You want coaxial RCA wires for behind your gear because it is electrically very noisy back there. Coax cables also electrically tie the 0.00 volt signal ground from the AV Receiver to the Amp. If you used non coaxial cables - this might be why you got the 60 hz humm.

    Quick question please, i have a Denon AVC X6500H which says it each channel rated at 205watts x 11 channels.
    Does it mean that I don’t need to buy a pre amp to really get that 205watts?
    Because i was told that it is pnly true for 2 channels but not all 11 channels.
    If i use 11 channels, those power will decrease per channel.

      I read online that you can use an "energy saving" power bar. The first plug's circuit triggers others. I ordered one and will try it. I read it doesn't always work and depends on the energy draw of whatever is plugged in. Some of these power bars have sensitivity adjustment knobs.

    What should be the volume level in Amplifier so that it maches with the remaining 9 channels from the AVR in a home theatre setup?

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If your amp has a separate volume control, the best way to level match the speakers is using the room correction software built into your AVR. If that doesn't work for some reason then it's time to go old school. 😁 Get an SPL meter, set it to "C" weighted and "Slow" then place it at your main listening position. Play some speaker pink noise (can be found on various streaming services) and set the volume to match your AVR using the SPL level shown on the meter.

      Sorry but I don’t think so. If you or someone you know is good with a soldering iron and circuit boards then maybe. But that might also be very tough because you’d have to interface (potentially program) the new board with the amps. I’m not an electrical engineer so I could be wrong.

      The MX-1 is a stereo amp; You're limited to 2 discreet channels of input and output. You CAN use it to boost a weaker receiver for stereo music only but no surround sound.

      @@HomeTheaterHobbyist No problem , I appreciate you coming back to me so promptly.
      I tried the below over the weekend post reading an article on the web.
      -On the relative scale of the AVR I set the volume level to 0dB.
      -I ran the test tone for the fronts on the AVR to confirm the levels were at 75db on the spl meter.
      -Then plugged in the front speakers to the CXA61 and re ran the test tones for them.
      -I kept raising the volume knob on the CXA61 during the above step time until the fronts read 75db on the spl meter and finally marked the turn on the knob so I can set it back at the marked level in case it gets moved accidentally.
      This way I now don't need the remote of the CXA61 anymore.

    Hi, I'm looking to add a BasX 6ch amp to run my 6 height ch's from my denon x8500HA but I'm already running a BasX 3ch amp for my front channels. I don't know how to pre out on my denon x8500HA with all speakers running on separate amplifiers.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว

      The is a little hard to explain via text but here it goes................Basically you need to connect the pre-amp cables to the fronts 3 channels then the other 6 to your heights and make sure you have the correct speakers connected to the amplifiers. Next go into the X8500h audio menu and choose the appropriate amp configuration (7.1.6 for example), then play test tones to see if you're getting sound from each speaker. If not you may have to adjust the amplifier configuration. Unfortunately I don't have an 8500 here to tell you the exactly steps. Hopefully this helps.

    How to i connect 3 Receivers together . currently i have a Sony Muteki HT DDW8500 7.4 Channel . This have 1 AV Receiver and two power Amplifies for the 4 Subwoofers. but i want to add 4 more Subwoofers . also need to connect one more same receiver together . im trying to connect 2 HTDDW7500 at same time but when i play the song 1 receiver get delayed sound . not music playing same time . also im trying to change the Playback speed from seccond receiver but cannot do that. i mean the man problems the seccond receiver getting delayed sounds than the first receiver . but both is same company and same brand and same Model too. do you have good solution for that? Both Receiver Model is one is HTDDW8500 And Seccond one HTDDW7500 But both is same .

    How do you connect the Subwoofer to an amplifier instead of the AV Receiver?

      Typically subwoofers have their own dedicated built in amplifier so no need to connect to an amp

    I just tried connecting the Sherbourn 5/1500 to my Yamaha RX-V860 for the first time after watching your video 3 times and was very careful to make sure everything was connected correctly.
    I never got any sound but the worst part is that my Yamaha will no longer turn on.
    😔 😢
    I tried disconnection everything. I left the Yamaha off a couple of hours and when I tried it again it still won't turn on.
    Now I'm worried I will have to take it for repair.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated if you have any.
    Thanks for your time!

      I'm really sorry to hear this. I know this is a dumb question but did you confirm the Yamaha worked before you connected everything? I'm curious if you got a bad unit?. Typically even if the speakers are not connected to the correct terminals it won't totally shutdown the unit so I wonder if something else is going on.

    Unfortunately my Denon AVR doesn't have any preouts (lol I got the AVR before this became a hobby), would it be a stupid idea to get an amplifier for my LCR speakers and connecting the amplifier to AVR by an RCA cable to speaker wire and connect the speaker wire side of the cable into the speaker terminal? Lol I'm just trying to think of alternatives so I don't need to buy a whole AVR. I'd love to hear your thoughts/experiences!

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t think this will work because once connected to the AVR stereo outputs you’ll have to select that input and you’ll only get stereo sound not multi channel.
      Sorry but I think you will need to purchase an AVR with pre-out connections. Don’t forget to check the used market, you can probably get something with pre-outs for a few hundred dollars. Enjoy!😊

    Hobbyist, this one is for you I have a 6.2.4 speaker setup, with one speaker at the back of my room, will this give me the same performance as 7.2.4?

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The amp sends the appropriate power to the speaker from the sound processor input, it doesn't change the processing. So this will not change a 6.2.4 sound image to 7.2.4. To make that change you need to add an additional speaker at the rear and adjust the speaker setup options in your sound processor/avr to let it know you have an additional speaker.

    Can we use 2 AVR's to same speakers using split speaker wires and power on the one which i want to use at a time, is it safe? Since the both are different brands and has a different sound signature.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this can be done but honestly the potential for both to be on at the same time would steer me away from doing it.

    • @immanuelsuresh7739
      @immanuelsuresh7739 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeTheaterHobbyist i wish i could do that by using banana plugs but i don't have an dedicated av rack nor I've a space, all I've is a big unit stand in which I've my pc , av receiver, stabilizer, multi power point & my centre speaker placed on top, it's very heavy and also placed very close to the wall so i can't move to reach its back, also it has an closed back with a small hole to let the cables in, hence all I've is just this one plan and not sure if it's really safe, otherwise i would power on only the avr that want to use not both at a same time.

    Hi There,
    I would need tour help to set up my Onkyo TX NR 6100 brand new l got it as a gift 4 years ago and never got to use it.
    I would need your help to set it up with my Bose Acoustimass 3 Series IV Speakers that have both the input that comes from the amp and the output that goes to the cube speakers at the back of the sub.
    I have two sets of the Bose Acoustimass 3 Series IV Speakers and would like to use the front and rear speaker output of the TX NR 6100 like an integrated amp for playing music as well as watching my cinema.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A decent quality cable from a reputable manufacturer should be fine. You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on an rca cable. Tens of dollars should be fine. 🙂
      Will you hear a difference with hundreds of dollars worth of cables? Maybe???? but honestly if you’re even considering high prices rca cables you really need to look at a surround processor that has balanced (XLR) outputs to the amp. That will yield a purer audio signal compared to unbalanced (rca) outputs.
      Hopefully this helps. 😁

    • @garytoddvolquardts126
      @garytoddvolquardts126 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No because av reciever manufacturers lie about the actual power. And most av only have two channels driven. Using an external frees up power on your av so that all channels have enough power too handle the peaks. At least that’s how I understand it.
