@@tanarmy13 There is always going to be someone in the world that can’t stand someone being successful while they are not and will do everything that they can to tear them down from the safety of annonimity like the cowards they are.
I find it interesting that streamers and internet personalities are held to a higher standard than say musicians. Like a rapper can literally murder 3 people and their public image will remain completely intact, but the moment a streamer says one thing that people don't agree with, their career is over
@@maithilinair9 he is but in Korea there is a very high standard put on their musicians... e.g. earlier this year a lot of actors and musicians was having scandals because people said that they were bullies in their school days and most of them were fake claims but with those were it was the truth was release for the dramas they were filming etc.
I would say it’s more so because someone like a musician you never entirely know them, they are a public figure and can definitely have a fun based depending on their content/music but they aren’t as personal as streamers and major Internet personalities. By this I generally mean someone who streams even twice a week, will generally be more personal/idol to people. Like just compare someone who makes music twice a month to someone who streams twice a month. All in all the streamer/internet personality, people will be more connected to them rather than the person who makes music and such. And because of this Internet personality’s/streamers are at a higher standard due to how many people idol them or develop a much stronger par-asocial relationship with them. (I know this could have been shorter but I just wanted to make it really clear hopefully, in my pov it seems like this is the case at least although I’d be curious to hear others)
It’s because rappers exist in a society associated with real life, while streamers gain a following from those who are too afraid to live in the real world. Therefore, these fake people living in a fantasy world feel this sense of purpose to dictate the rules of cancel culture online, because they are unhappy with their own lives. And they will continue to hide behind the screen
@BunsGlazing Saying someone has bad political views is like saying someone has bad taste because they like food you don't. It's a difference of opinion... nothing more, nothing less. This whole "bad" political views is just a way to demonize anyone who doesn't agree with you politically and thus make you not want to hold a conversation with them. A conversation that could either change their mind or your mind. This is what's wrong with politics these days. The demonization of someone because they're "on the other side" is what leads to division in our nation/the world. It's also why the news pushes for it. They want an US vs them because it cranks up ratings. Political parties want it because it keeps us busy fighting each other instead of them while they do nothing in office.
@@Jarl97 the vanoss crew has a "on the line" dark past, nowadays they do some "dark" jokes, mostly Vanoss and Brian, but they aren't as bad as they were. if Vanoss has 25 mill subs, the ~1 mill views he gets on a video really says that the people who still watches his content don't have any problem with it, and let's be real Vanoss is just a sweet troll, console gamer who has shown that he knows how to stay out of problems, and hide his personal life.
Cancel culture is something that exists primarily in twitter. Something that I noticed especially with streamers or internet personalities is the people that try to cancel them is rather young. Especially young people who are easily agreeable. There are people who are trying to cancel toast right now. They use the word such as "educating" toast about certain topics he voiced his opinion about and/or edgy jokes he made. I get that not everyone is in it for his humor nor everyone will agree with his opinions and I totally understand that but trying to do an online court trial of his actions is what I don't understand with cancel culture. A lot of times it comes across as just an online mob orchestrated by the type of people with a mindset "I don't like this person, you shouldn't like them too".
They make no sense. They ask for apologies and not accept them, they try to "educate" people and refuse to understand that people can change for the better. They go out of their way to find triggering subjects and later complain about it. These people are literally brainwashed fanatics who believe anyone who isn't with their cause, which is eradicating everyone they see as an enemy, is against them. They're no longer affected minorities as they used to years ago, they realized they have the power to ruin careers by playing the victim card and since brands won't stand in between no one will unfortunately.
These people find joy in other people suffering. Chris and Karl from mr beast and valkyrae like these people didn’t or don’t deserve all the hate that they got.
Yeah, the people who cancel are just kids that wanna be social justice warriors and being part of a "movement" just to get attention. That thing you mention of "educate" is a thing that really bothers me a lot, I find it too condescending, like how the fuck a child will "educate" a 29y old dude you know? I think that youtubers should respond and defend themselves with arguments and logic instead of "apologize" because none of them actually feel sorry. It's incredible when you realize that a bunch of stupid kids are controlling adults.
The logic of someone joking about smth means they are supporting is stupid. If the world goes by that logic, i would be a supporter of world wars. Whats worst is that this so called "educate" on twitter is jus throwing hate and anger at toast's joke. If the joke offends u as an individual, just dun watch and fk off lol
I mean he is covering his Asian mouth. That’s pretty damn racist towards Asains? Does he not like Asian mouths? I think we should cancel Sykkuno 🤪👍🏼 - The small brain of every cancel incel in the world
When Toast said I've been in the scene for 6 yrs it made me realize, Lily has been in it for like 12 yrs now and Scarra too. Sykkuno was a minor TH-camr who collaborated here and there about 9 years ago so he probably didn't feel the chaos of fame or maybe he did he seemed to adjust fairly quickly when he got it.
Sykkuno was pretty big way back then with his league stuff. He averaged like 100k to 200k viewers like every video. He just didn’t care about numbers so he never knew he was relatively famous. I used to watch sykkunos videos way before I even knew it was sykkuno. Same with Lily’s.
Sykkuno was actually kinda big before for a new streamer but the thing is the numbers of viewers back then doesn't pay much attention unlike today. And I think its important for a person to have a principles that no matter how big streamer he is, he still considered himself as streamer for fun.
Lily has been through a lot >: All the toxicity against girl gamers, being blamed for CLG's losses simply because she was HotshotGG's girlfriend for awhile, the misogynistic standards initially placed on female Twitch streamers - only worsened by the entire confusion with cam e-girls - which eventually led to her stream schedule being like... A few times every month for a long time because streaming gave her undue stress. Then there's her own mental health issues, some harassment and terrible boyfriends mixed in... I'm so glad that's it's better now, for her especially >
sykkuno is one of the rare cases of content creators that used to be popular, went dark, and then made a comeback it's kinda strange to see as i remember watching him back in 2011-12 and then disappearing from yt entirely. Was pretty surprising to see how quickly you gain popularity nowadays compared to how yt and twitch used to be
I'm realizing that as a content creator, you can never get cancelled as long as you don't use Twitter lmao PewDiePie to this day is still being cancelled on Twitter but it doesn't affect him in the slightest.
I'm so done with that app ever since bunch of twitter users cancelling Jacksepticeye and calling him 'ableist' just because he used 'THE WRONG' FONT TO TWEET. A F*CKING FONT
Yea one of J.K. Rowling's whole book was considered transphobic because of one line where a man dresses as a woman and murders someone. PC cancel culture really live in a bubble.
Henry Lo I don't think the JK issue was quite as black and white as that, and from my understanding it was throughout the whole book and not just one line (I believe this false conception came from Blaire White but it's since been confirmed she never read the book). From the parts I've seen of the novel, it came across as disrespectful and in poor taste.
@a.starribunni To be fair, not everyone understand trans and what to say or not to say to not seem inconsiderate or rude. Is someone with a penis called a woman if they choose to start being identified as a woman? If yes , then what is a woman? These are the complicated thoughts that people have to deal with and sometimes even trans theories are misleading.
@@henrylo6773 JK Rowlings still is popular and rich. She wasn't cancelled at all. If that's what "cancelling" is, then idk why you guys are such a cry babies about it. It literally doesn't do shit. @@rewiredhuman3347 Iirc, the reason she got canceled was first for the book thing, but quite a few people just brushed it as distasteful, but then she tried pushing an agenda to get trans females(mtf) out of lesbian safe spaces or something to that effect because she said something along the lines of trans females not being “true lesbians” and that’s the point when she truly got canceled

And now todlers who cant understand the difference are trying to cancel one of the only guys in the industry who actually stands up for his female coworkers.
Probably shouldn't say "one of the only guys in the industry". There are a lot of streamers who constantly stand up for their female coworkers or streamer friends. It's just that they are constantly overshadowed because respecting people isn't such a big thing as NOT respecting people, sadly enough.
n3uro84 just because there are more dosent mean that there’s a majority. The problem point blank is that every guy in the industry should be actively anti sexist. So yeah it’s appropriate to say one of the only guys because the percentage is so small.
@@nahtbergin There is a absolute majority, but you never hear about it because it's that common to stand up for other people, regardless of genders. Contrary to your beliefs, most people, and that includes men, on earth has been taught to respect people regardless of genders. In most countries, equality is also firmly engrained in the constitution of respective countries, and the last 30 years harrassment and discrimination has also been illegal and unionized. It's also more of an issue than it was before. Which is why I can say YES, there is an ABSOLUTE MAJORITY of people online, regardless of genders, who would stand up and defend marginalized people or people in any danger or difficulty, regardless of gender, sexual identity, religion or the likes. You know how I know this? Because every single time there has been an incident where women has been harrassed or otherwise marginalized, there is a fucking OUTRAGE among men. Even if most men are a bit "macho" or "alpha" from time to time, most of us have been taught since early age that "you never hurt a woman, and you always protect them". This was engrained from the early 50's when women's right became constitutionalized in a lot of countries. Most men are anti-sexist. Most women are anti-sexist. Most sexists don't let other people know that they're sexist unless they are among other sexists, for the sole reason that they are afraid of the backlash, because most people have no tolerance for that, and 99.9% of all men will not stay silent if they see a child or a woman get hurt. That is also why rapists, pedophiles, and male domestic abusers are kept in isolation when in prison, because other men will hurt them, or kill them, because most men will NEVER accept that. There you have it.
Kinda tough to try protect toast and his friend Because haters and Twitter influence kinda big The more friends toast have the more enemy he will be getting
@putra kacak the more friends you have the easier it is to defend yourself, because you have people that have your back as long as you don’t do anything really bad. One thing to consider is that cancel culture in Korea is way, way worse than anything you can imagine. And this is coming from me who live in third world country where most people still have an "ancient way" of thinking. One of the worst thing that I hate the most that normal people in korea will cancel a famous people over something that they (these normal people) also do in daily basis. Long story shot, hypocrite, but in the large scale.
@@davethebss no, for a simple reason. In twitter you have opposition, almost at everything. In korea, all people is one voice. If you on Jae case, literally no koreans defend him. And another thing is twitter isn't that hypocrite. If they cancel something, they probably (to a certain extent) aren't doing that thing either. There's this one korean celeb who get cancelled because he had a dine outside with maybe 4 people. He didn't take any picture, didn't post anything in his social media, knowingly his position. Still get cancelled because someone take picture of him, not because they're a fans, but purposefully for cancelling him. Btch, this person probably in that place for dining too! One example (very different cultural attitudes to this topic obviously) but B.I. being kicked out of Ikon for being accused of smoking weed, no actual proof of him doing it, but accusations were enough for him to be removed from his group
If i had to guess I would say the unfortunate theory would be he's been through too much too young or perhaps even too much too frequently in a shorter period of time such as the six years of streaming
honestly this is really inevitable. with the stan twitter trend "holding ccs accountable" which is a gateway to cancel culture, no shot toast will get targeted next. i watch a lot of otv clips mostly with toast and the first thing i thought was the timer before he gets cancelled. stans are so convinced that what they are doing is benefitable, and their justification for doing this type of stuff is under the guise of "minorities were affected" no matter the context of the thing they were focusing on. hell, im surprised that toast managed to still joke about dark humor without getting called out by that side of twitter. he also hates stans, which is apparently a red flag for them. if i were to try n guess who'll be forced to leave and not collab with toast, it will be either rae or tina. not sykkuno though since he really doesnt talk about or interact with his twitter stans from what i've seen so far. what i do really admire about him is that he acknowledges it and addresses that fact about whats gonna happen after he gets cancelled and stuff.

Not to poke the bear but the otv fanbase is definition of cancel culture. Lily fanbase is a bit worse in that regard and its mostly cause their fans are younger, yet those same fans are trying to baby multi millionaires xD. Any fanbase of anything becomes toxic and cancerous once it reaches a certain critical mass. I don't think it's limited to just the otv fanbase, or even streamers/content creators. People are just shit and it gets exaggerated when they're in a large group because their anonymity is stronger. It's hard to hold a large group of people responsible for something.

I'm not an old Toast fan so when I became one, I also checked out his old videos on youtube which some include those jokes that he made that can be taken out of context. He really has an edgy sense of humor and its one of the reasons that I like him. There's just people that are sensitive to these kind of humor and we cant really blame them too. Toast can see that and he apologized for it on his Twitter. Those people that just gets into the ride of cancel culture are the ones who are toxic. But most importantly, Toast can't be canceled.
I mean we can blame them as you can't make an offence about offending people because it's subjective, the feelings are based around an individual, or a group, or community, or collective, what you may be offended to I probably am not, I'm honestly offended by people who think being offended is on par with being shot, it's not. I mean we teach children sticks and stones may break my bones but words will not kill you for gods sake. Cancel culture is part of the group of people who think being offended is on par with being shot, and I hate it.
@@matthewwoods2638 what I mean is we can't blame a person's sensitivity because we all are different in that aspect. We can only explain to them that it's just a joke but despite that they get their feelings hurt and they have no control over that. I get butthurt on my friend's joke too and I would confront them that I'm sensitive on that aspect. So kudos to toast really for saying sorry after being confronted by those peole because you don't know how deep a joke can cut to certain person, even though you say that it's just a joke. What's wrong here is the people who threatens Toast's circle of friends just because of the jokes he made in the past. Also, you can't really please anyone, that goes to any streamers out there.
People from his early days understand him and know him for who he is, it’s just with how he’s grown so much and so many new people who don’t really know how he is and what his comedy is.. it sucks ;-;
I'll just put out facts here. Don't take people on Twitter seriously. Don't value their opinions as such. Especially the younger ones. The part of the brain responsible for critical thinking is the pre-frontal cortex. For most people, it doesn't develop until 25. And for some, it takes even longer to develop due to trauma/other reasons. Trauma also radicalises people with certain opinions, and has been found to be a cause for people to take extreme political stances and have rigid opinions. These "stans" are basically people with their own unresolved trauma, projecting it onto the world through another outlet/other people. Instead of sorting out their own mess, they're spreading it onto the world.
Some people might argue that older people are more rigid in their opinions and set in their ways. This is due to the fact that neuroplasticity comes down with age. That's the ability of the brain to change its structure, adapt, and form newer connections based on what it learns. It drops mildly by 40 and goes down a lot by 70. Now imagine a person that cannot think critically and is older and does not have that much neuroplasticity or the motivation to change how they think. That's your typical Karen there. The toxic cancel culture folks of today are the Karens of tomorrow.
The crazy thing is that all the issues that Twitter brings up is very important and deserves a conversation. But Twitter prioritizes simplistic posts that generate engagement. So a lot of nuance and intelligence needed for a half-decent conversation gets thrown out the window. So progressive and ethical conversations devolve into a degenerate showdown where people try to out cancel each other. This is very sad. The potentially constructive discussions will never be made and yet everybody limps out of the dog fight labelled as nazis, libtards, or whatever reductive name you can think of.
Yik Long Tay is correct. Many issues pointed out by people are important but as that issue gain traction all the logical discussion are just thrown off the window by people who believes they know everything and start making misinformation based on whatever they got from it. These are the things I deny are true, 4. Please stop bothering my friends. and then just resume his normal content, and ignore the topic any time it's brought up.
yes he's talking about jae. jae and toast are friends and just to play together (mostly among us ). jae also started streaming more and started to play with more streamers that are also friends of toast's. important to note is that jae is in a band called day6 which is a Korean band and that means he is a kpop idol. idols and k celebs are held to an immensely high standard and get cancelled for A LOT (smoking, dating, drug use, underage drinking, and obv valid reasons too). Jae got called out by knetizen because he made a sugar daddy joke on stream. this humor is really inappropriate and for the Korean public unacceptable. and bc knetz are his main audience (not in context to his stream but bc of his band, which is representing one of the biggest entertainment companies), he was forced to stop streaming. this joke (and some other "inappropriate" jokes could've costed him his career.
I don't understand how people can like not like toast, like I understand not everything is for everyone but he's like not a bad person or anything and he's mature like why are they even trying to cancel him...
Jae quit streaming for saying “sugar daddy” on stream. It's ok here in the west, but in Korea it is offensive and he faced a lot of backlash since he is a kpop star and a lot of his audience is from Korea.
There are good and the be of cancel culture. The problem that cancel culture has is targeting the wrong person, extreme level of sending hate to the level of people wanting to sucide, addressing smth that happen 10-15 years ago, not acknowledging the fact someone is young and currently learning. In conclusion cancel culture should become let's educate them culture. Like educate someone why it's wrong with not hate spread.. there is too much negativity in this world alrdy.
wait...did Jae got cancel for making a sex joke while playing a video game?? ...that is not even close from being ok..this is so not sex positive ~ cancel culture is making a joke of itself
Twitter is honestly not much more than a pathetic posse of online bullies and I feel like the best way to deal with it is just to minimize their influence by setting very firm boundaries and just not giving them the satisfaction ever. Public figure or not, friends are something you decide for yourself and nobody is owed an explanation about that. And anyone who comes into their chat trying to pressure them about it can eat a ban. These people need to learn their place.
Cancel Culture is what you get when one is more interested in self-righteousness than actually trying to help people. Also when one forgets the other side of Justice is mercy, forgiveness, and empathy.

@@tanarmy13 There is always going to be someone in the world that can’t stand someone being successful while they are not and will do everything that they can to tear them down from the safety of annonimity like the cowards they are.
I find it interesting that streamers and internet personalities are held to a higher standard than say musicians. Like a rapper can literally murder 3 people and their public image will remain completely intact, but the moment a streamer says one thing that people don't agree with, their career is over
Most probably because they are easy to reach than musicians???
Isn't Jae literally a musician?
And they will continue to hide behind the screen

well he did say in his streams that he doesn’t really care about politics
@BunsGlazing let's say he has bad political views regarding the usa, as most people around the world have, usa has a unique form of government
I really respect Toast for always being willing to speak his mind and say what a lot of others would be too scared to.
can you explain to my why he’s getting canceled

This exactly why I don’t use Twitter
The logic of someone joking about smth means they are supporting is stupid. If the world goes by that logic, i would be a supporter of world wars.
Whats worst is that this so called "educate" on twitter is jus throwing hate and anger at toast's joke. If the joke offends u as an individual, just dun watch and fk off lol

Probably shouldn't say "one of the only guys in the industry". There are a lot of streamers who constantly stand up for their female coworkers or streamer friends. It's just that they are constantly overshadowed because respecting people isn't such a big thing as NOT respecting people, sadly enough.
wait why is fed involved with this??
Elisa he’s not, I’m saying that people are trying to compare this bullshit as fed level manipulation.
n3uro84 just because there are more dosent mean that there’s a majority.

Remember when toast and valkyrae were being a bit to mean to sykunno he end up getting sad, everyone wanted toast and rae canceled. Lily fanbase is a bit worse in that regard and its mostly cause their fans are younger, yet those same fans are trying to baby multi millionaires xD. Its really cringe, i love toast, rae, syk but god damn the fan base they built is probably why toast feels the way he does.
@@WanderTheNomad You do realize the OTV fan base has legit tried canceling loads of TH-cam creators for a long time now right? Ill give you a prime example of a huge drama happen last year, Leafyishere (rather if you like him or not) OTV fanbase got him taken off the internet (hence definition of cancel culture is OTV fanbase) Pokimane also tried getting small TH-cam channels taken down back in day and of course she apologized for it but it did happen none the less.
I think its funny otv fans love to cancel people even tho they are completely destroying the life's of other people, but hey remember their nothing but a wholesome cringelord fanbase. And this is not hatred towards the streamers at all but the monster they created is biting them in the ass none the less.

Cancel Culture: Ha! This guy’s Toast.
Toast: Oh no. Anyway.
@@janmelchie66 fair
People from his early days understand him and know him for who he is, it’s just with how he’s grown so much and so many new people who don’t really know how he is and what his comedy is.. it sucks ;-;
Woah I'm 21 and I feel offended, I don't use Twitter and all that, except to enter giveaways.
The potentially constructive discussions will never be made and yet everybody limps out of the dog fight labelled as nazis, libtards, or whatever reductive name you can think of.
twitter is one fcking toxic social media platform, i tell you that much lol
Yik Long Tay is correct. Many issues pointed out by people are important but as that issue gain traction all the logical discussion are just thrown off the window by people who believes they know everything and start making misinformation based on whatever they got from it. That ultimately leads to all the toxicity we are seeing. Misinformation and conspiracies is a real and very harmful thing.
What ever you are going to do Toast, im going to follow you. You are a great friend, streamer and you will get throu this.

The "receipts" for Toast remind me very much of the ones for Ash- even as someone who went into it expecting to side against the accused, as so many internet personalities wind up being terrible, there was just nothing there to be mad at. Reminds me of a gc that I was in once where people called out a white girl for learning japanese because that was "cultural appropriation" (quite literally what they were upset about was her learning the language, nothing more). It's upsetting because some people really do deserve to be deplatformed but these people who make life a woke contest make people take serious issues less and less seriously.
If friends leave you over this, they were never your friends to begin with.
Its more of that their jobs rely heavily on streaming and that the people canceling toast to begin with are associating him as a bad person and if he’s considered bad then the others will be viewed as such too and could be “cancelled” as well, you need to remember that twitter is full of people who keep talking and talking but dont even know the topic of conversation, toast already knows that his friends will need to keep their distance to keep their reputation intact for their jobs, its just reality
This is a very childish way of looking at it. I’m not saying that in a bad way, btw, it’s just. It’s never as black and white as that

Wait who is Jay and why is Toast and him getting canceled? O.o
I think he's talking about Jae from Day6 but I might be wrong
yes he's talking about jae. jae and toast are friends and just to play together (mostly among us ). jae also started streaming more and started to play with more streamers that are also friends of toast's. important to note is that jae is in a band called day6 which is a Korean band and that means he is a kpop idol. idols and k celebs are held to an immensely high standard and get cancelled for A LOT (smoking, dating, drug use, underage drinking, and obv valid reasons too).
