      @Antonio I think that is belongs to biomechanical engineering. Medical Physics is deal with medical imaging and radiation therapy or medical devices. Also in medical physics you will learn a lot quantum mechanics stuff. That is very microscopic. Medical Physics will learn anatomy and biomechanics. But those are not mainly focused. If you want to specialize that area, I would suggest you can check biomechanical engineering.

      Medical physics is super cool. My mom is a radiation oncologist and always talks about how smart and important the physicists are in her department. I think I’m going to shadow her department for a day sometime soon.

    i am in a very different field, dental medicine and i was curious about this, the story you mentionned was heartwarming and i'll make sure to pass it to whoever asks me about this field, thanks Dr. Stanley !

      @The Anonymous Hi, yes def, in fact i was accepted in a Medical physics program which i recommend in UEF, Finland. As you mentionned we already have some notions in Radiology

      @The Anonymous They asked me for the final diploma as i have yet to finish my studies next week, i'm on the 6th year of dentistry (and the last one here in Algeria), as my motivation letter had a link between the Artifacts found in Oral radiology and my knowledge of the field which should help with research in the future...

    As an IB student, I haven't been allowed to take Bio, Chem, and Physics and so I have only been able to take Chem, Physics and Math at higher level. Can I still become a medical physicist without bio?

      @zigzagnemesist5074 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes of course, physics and Maths are more important than bio for a medical physicist.

    At 28 years old, I feel its too late for me. I did economics in Uni because that is what I could afford at the time.

      I start my first semester of Physics undergrad in January 2023. I'll be 25. It's never too late. Life expectancy is about 75 years in the US. another 2-4 years hardly scratches that 47 years you have to go

    I’ recently got into biomedical physics, but I’m not sure if that’s what I wanna do, I have no problems with math and physics, but I’m looking at the employment rate and what I can do with it after or before grad, I can’t find a satisfactory answer, I’m considering switching to a different field. Please what would be your candid and professional advice? Thanks.

    I have a question - what's the difference between medical physics and bioengineering?

    • @johamnogota2921
      @johamnogota2921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Medical physics is more about the study of physics applied to the medical field, such as radiology, studying what radiation does to different human tissues and cells primarily focused on cancer. And bioengineering is more about the use of engineering systems to biological fields such as the creation of machines and electronic devices useful for say surgery, or engineering bacteria to produce certain chemicals that are of use for medical purposes
